00:00The M1000RR is BMW's homologation special, almost, racing-ready superbike.

00:07Last year saw BMW take their first world superbike title with their M1000RR,

00:13and for the 2025 model, they've sharpened things up even further.

00:18Although it looks reasonably similar to the previous generation M1000RR at first glance,

00:24there have been some big changes to the motor, exhaust, aero package and the frame,

00:30all of which have all been modified for the 2025 model, with an updated electronics package too.

00:37This is because although BMW may have only recently found success in the short-circuit racing world,

00:44with the tweaks to the 2025 model, there's no doubt that they mean business and that they want this to continue.

00:51The result is a seriously mighty weapon for the track that's even better than before.

00:57The M1000RR is blisteringly fast in a straight line and has the stopping power to back it up

01:03while offering a sense of poise and confidence from its chassis that is crafted for chasing tents

01:08with a set of sticky, slick tires.

01:11Coupled with an even more complex electronic strategy,

01:15the M1000RR offers plentiful performance with a huge safety net if needed,

01:20in a package that you can ride to and from a track day.

01:24Yet the changes are about evolution rather than revolution.

01:28For a mere mortal, there isn't a drastic improvement to the older model

01:32or even compared to standard S1000RR,

01:36unless you really are chasing those small improvements on track.

01:40Although BMW's RRs have evolved over the years,

01:44one thing they've retained is an impressive mixture of precision and stability,

01:47and the 2025 M1000RR is no different.

01:52The frame has been modified in terms of the flex and engine mounting points,

01:57with one additional mounting point added to the left-hand side aiding the racing machine.

02:02It is however, still friendly enough at track day speeds,

02:06through every stage of attacking a corner.

02:08Being built for racing first and foremost,

02:12the M1000RR comes equipped with conventional suspension which is on the firmer end of the spectrum,

02:17especially when compared to the electronically adjustable units on the more basic,

02:23slightly less aggressive S1000RR.

02:26The braking power is also powerful with heaps of feel.

02:30It's also quite a nice place to be,

02:32with a tall seat and a surprisingly roomy cockpit.

02:36In fact, the space between the seat and the bars is vast,

02:40and will even suit a larger rider.

02:43The previous M1000RR is no slouch,

02:46but for 2025,

02:48BMW have moved the game on even further

02:51with their updated 999 cubic centimeters shift cam equipped motor.

02:57It's seen some substantial changes,

02:59including the cylinder head and port design,

03:02compression ratio,

03:03combustion chamber shape change,

03:05full shaft titanium valves,

03:07new tool-up and seat geometry on the intake and exhaust sides,

03:12along with a heavily modified exhaust.

03:15The result?

03:16A whopping 214 brake horsepower,

03:19along with 5 euro plus compliance,

03:22which is as fast and exciting as it is usable.

03:25The shift cam motor allows for a healthy dose of torque at the bottom end,

03:29yet it's at the top where the RR comes alive,

03:32with a huge amount of pull all the way to the higher,

03:35red line and the screaming soundtrack to back it up too.

03:39Even so,

03:40it's not too spiky at the bottom end,

03:42and will look after you at the lower level of the rev range too,

03:46especially in the softer engine modes.

03:49Whether you are up close or gazing from afar,

03:51the M1000RR does look a mighty impressive bit of kit,

03:56clad in all its carbon goodness,

03:58especially in the Blackstorm metallic color scheme model that we tested.

04:02Although we've not seen a huge number of owners' reviews on the M1000RR,

04:07since its first generation in 2021,

04:10most remain reasonably positive,

04:12although the reliability is still a mixed bag,

04:16including some of the earlier models being incredibly thirsty for oil.

04:21The slightly lower specification S1000RR did also suffer a few minor issues,

04:27but BMW seem to have addressed those problems,

04:30and the dealer service tends to be positive.

04:33We are running an S1000RR on our long-term test fleet for 2025,

04:38so keep an eye out for our updates on the ownership experience.

04:41At 32,850 pounds or 40,540 pounds as tested with the additional packs,

04:50the M1000RR isn't what you'd call a cheap bike.

04:54But then again, it's not made to be,

04:56and one of its closest rivals is Ducati's Panagale V4 are at 38,995 pounds,

05:02which sits in and around that same ballpark as a homologation special.

05:07However, there are cheaper alternatives on the superbike market,

05:11including Kawasaki's Ninja ZX 10RR at 25,799 pounds,

05:18Honda's CBR 1000RR,

05:20our Fireblade SP at 23,699 pounds,

05:25and Aperilia's RSV4 Factory 1100 at 23,850 pounds.

05:31With so much going and stopping power,

05:35a good electronics package has never been so important,

05:38and the M1000RR is absolutely stacked,

05:42from the likes of cruise control and heated grips,

05:45to all of the rider's aids under the sun,

05:47including the new addition of slide control,

05:50built into the traction control for going sideways on the throttle,

05:54and brake slide assist for going sideways into a corner.

05:57In reality, the M1000RR's rider aids are incredible.

06:02The ABS offers little intrusion,

06:04while the traction control is seriously effective in its higher modes.

06:08The introduction of steering angle sensor technology

06:11has also enabled a step-up in the brake slide assist functionality,

06:16allowing for effortless corner exits.

06:18The BMW is a master of all trades,

06:21however, its TFT dash and switch setup

06:24is not the easiest interface to navigate through,

06:27and does take a bit of time to get the hang of.
