00:00In this video, we're diving into another seriously creepy case.
00:04This one's not for the faint of heart, so buckle up and let's get into it.
00:1029-year-old Giulia Tramontano was last seen in the small Italian town of Senago
00:16on the evening of May 28, 2012.
00:22She stopped answering calls and texts from family and friends
00:25when she was seven months pregnant, and her phone went silent all of a sudden.
00:30It was her boyfriend, Alessandro Impagnatiello, who first told everyone that she wasn't there.
00:37He said that when he got home from work, the flat was empty,
00:40and he had no idea where his partner had gone.
00:44There were too many strange things going on in this case from the start.
00:49Giulia had left most of her personal items behind,
00:51and her plans for the next few days didn't show that she was planning to disappear.
00:57As agents started to put together what she was doing in the last few days,
01:02they found even more disturbing information.
01:05Giulia had a major argument with Alessandro the night before she went missing.
01:10She told her mother, Laura Donna, and a close friend about it in messages.
01:15She was very upset, and she wrote that the situation was making her feel very bad.
01:21But the most important question was still unanswered.
01:25What really happened that terrible night?
01:29Giulia really did leave the house by herself, so why hasn't anyone seen her since?
01:35The next few days, detectives would start to pull apart a web of lies
01:40that would lead them to a terrible truth.
01:42Her birthday is May 2nd, 1994, and she was born in Naples.
01:50She was raised in a close-knit family that was always there to help and love her.
01:56From a young age, her parents taught her to be independent and have faith in herself.
02:02Even though they liked modern ideas,
02:05family customs were still very important to them,
02:07and she could always go home to find comfort and guidance.
02:12Giulia went to a nearby school and did very well in the arts.
02:17She was interested in real estate because she liked architecture,
02:21looking for ways to make money,
02:23and the idea of becoming a great real estate agent.
02:28After high school, she went to college to get a degree in the field.
02:31Her analytical mind and good speaking skills helped her quickly become an expert in the field.
02:39By the time she was 25, she had a good name in the business.
02:43But this wasn't enough for Giulia.
02:45She wanted to live in a big city where there were lots of chances.
02:50Her job in her hometown had hit a plateau by the time she was 26.
02:56She knew that the local market had its limits
02:59because she worked at a real estate business.
03:03She decided to move to Milan because of stories her friends told her.
03:08She thought the city would give her a new start full of opportunities.
03:13By the end of 2020, she had made up her mind.
03:17She saw Milan as a sign of freedom, new connections, and the job growth she wanted.
03:24She quickly made the move.
03:26She packed her things, said goodbye to her family and friends,
03:29and set off for the city she hoped would become her new home.
03:34Because Giulia had just moved to Milan, she got right to work.
03:38The real estate market in the city moved quickly and was very competitive.
03:43You had to be sure of yourself and keep trying.
03:46She quickly adjusted, making friends, going to events for networking, and finishing deals.
03:52Her new life was exciting, but she was bored with all of her plans and wanted something more.
04:00To be happy.
04:01This is when she met Alessandro Impagnatiello.
04:05They met at a bar in Milan where her co-workers had invited her to celebrate a deal that went well.
04:12It was Alessandro's job to serve drinks at a fancy club inside a five-star hotel.
04:20He was friendly, open, and naturally good at getting along with others.
04:25He was a year older than Giulia.
04:28She was drawn to his confidence and charm.
04:30With him, she felt like she could unwind, forget about the stress of work for a while, and just enjoy the moment.
04:38They had a smooth start to their relationship in the first few weeks.
04:43They went to restaurants, walked around the city at night, and talked about the future at night.
04:49Alessandro told her that he had a son from a previous relationship,
04:53but he told her that he was moving on with his life and that his past was behind him.
04:58Giulia was sure she had finally found someone she could be with for a long time.
05:04They fell in love quickly and chose to move in together after only a few months.
05:10Giulia really hoped that moving to Milan would support her work and make her happy as a person.
05:16She was sure that Alessandro was the one she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with,
05:21but she didn't know what secrets he was keeping
05:25or how much her choice would change her life.
05:29The year 1993 saw the birth of Alessandro Impagnatiello.
05:35Even though he seemed sure of himself, his life in Milan was anything but steady.
05:41As a bartender at a fancy place, he was always surrounded by rich people,
05:47famous people, and great business people.
05:49This helped him carefully create the image of a man used to living in style.
05:55He was good at making people feel comfortable, quick to connect with others, and a master of persuasion.
06:02He always kept his true goals hidden by being charming and laid back.
06:08He made a steady income and made good friends at the bar where he worked.
06:13He knew how to put himself in the best light,
06:16making it look like he was trying to get more.
06:19His co-workers thought he was charming, but a bit shallow.
06:23They thought he never really opened up, but always seemed like a fun, relaxed person.
06:29His clients and friends thought he was living the dream,
06:33but there was a lot more going on behind this carefully curated picture.
06:38There didn't seem to be any red flags when he started dating Giulia.
06:41Instead, in the beginning of their friendship, he seemed interested and caring.
06:48He knew just the right thing to say to make a good impression.
06:52But as time went on, Alessandro's true self started to show.
06:58They were having problems with each other.
07:00Soon after they moved in together, the first red flags started to show.
07:05Alessandro and Giulia often made jokes at each other,
07:08but over time, his jokes got meaner.
07:12He would say mean things about her speech,
07:15implying that people from southern Italy were not at all like people from northern Italy.
07:20He made fun of her favorite sports team in public,
07:24even though he knew how much it meant to her.
07:27At first, Giulia didn't think much of it, because she thought it was just playing.
07:32But as time went on, it became clear that what he said was not just words.
07:37Their fights happened more often.
07:41Alessandro got angry over little things like how she arranged their home,
07:46how she responded to what he said, and how she answered his questions.
07:50She felt like she was in the wrong,
07:53because he would cut her off in the middle of a talk or just ignore her.
07:58He became cold and detached during those times,
08:01but all of a sudden, he was back to being himself, as if nothing had happened.
08:05They got used to these mental ups and downs.
08:09He would be loving and thoughtful one day and not care about anything the next.
08:14Giulia tried to figure out what was going on, but never got a clear answer.
08:20She was always unsure of what Alessandro was feeling,
08:24because he never told her how he felt.
08:26But his double life was the biggest lie, and she didn't see it coming.
08:31Giulia thought that Alessandro worked nights at a bar once he got home from work.
08:37He had been telling lies about his life for months, though.
08:41He began seeing someone else, Allegra, soon after they moved in together.
08:46He met Allegra at work.
08:48She was younger, spoke more than one language,
08:51and was working her way up in the hotel business.
08:55Alessandro pretended to be single and said that he was no longer seeing Giulia.
09:00However, he was still living with her temporarily.
09:04He did a great job of keeping this lie going by telling Allegra
09:08that Giulia was already looking for a new place to live and would be leaving soon.
09:14Giulia and Allegra didn't know the other existed.
09:17He played a different role to each of them,
09:19making his lies so smooth that nothing seemed fishy.
09:25He lived in the present with one and talked about the future with the other.
09:29He never thought that his lie might come back to haunt him.
09:33At the same time, things kept getting worse between him and Giulia.
09:38Something didn't feel right, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
09:42Unease grew over time, but Alessandro kept up his double act,
09:47not realizing that the truth was drawing near.
09:51Giulia began to notice changes in her body by the end of 2022.
09:57She thought something was wrong because she was always tired,
10:01had strange urges, and missed her period.
10:04She got a pregnancy test because she didn't want to wait.
10:08This woman knew she was going to have a child when she saw two clear lines show.
10:14Feelings were mixed when I heard the news.
10:16She had always wanted to have a family,
10:19but things had been hard with Alessandro over the last few months.
10:23She knew she had to tell him in person, though.
10:26Giulia nervously told everyone the news at the right time.
10:30She thought about all the different ways people might respond,
10:34from shock to happiness and maybe even a little fear.
10:38But Alessandro's face could not be read.
10:42After being quiet for a few seconds, he asked her one question.
10:48Are you sure?
10:49Giulia felt a chilling gap between them.
10:52It wasn't like he was interested in how she was feeling or how far along she was.
10:57It was impossible to ignore how uninterested he was.
11:01He never talked about it again in the days that followed.
11:05No plans for the future.
11:07No interest in upcoming doctor's visits.
11:11She felt alone.
11:12But she held on to the hope that he would eventually accept what had happened and start to show some support.
11:19Even though the new year started, Alessandro's mood didn't change.
11:23Giulia found herself alone in the evenings more and more, thinking about her future.
11:29Even though she kept working and tried to concentrate on other things, she started to feel nervous.
11:36At the same time, Alessandro's secret life took a turn that no one saw coming.
11:43At the beginning of 2023, he found out that his other partner, Allegra, was also going to have a baby.
11:51He had no idea what the news meant.
11:54Along with Giulia, Allegra didn't know there was another woman involved.
11:59She was sure she and Alessandro were together for good.
12:03But unlike Giulia, Allegra wasn't sure if she wanted to keep the pregnancy going.
12:08As Alessandro saw that his carefully planned lie was coming apart,
12:13he persuaded Allegra that having a child wasn't the best idea at that time.
12:19He told her he would back her no matter what she did.
12:22But it was clear that he thought ending the pregnancy would be best.
12:26Allegra thought about it for a long time and then agreed.
12:31As a way to end this story, Alessandro went with her to the medical procedure.
12:37He hoped that now that Allegra's pregnancy was over, he could deal with Giulia's choice to have the baby,
12:43which he saw as his bigger problem.
12:46But Giulia was determined to keep being pregnant.
12:49While Allegra wasn't, even though he felt emotionally distant from her,
12:55he kept trying to get her to change her mind.
12:57But Giulia wouldn't listen.
12:59She made this choice on purpose and on her own.
13:03Even though she knew her relationship with Alessandro was ending,
13:07she was ready to take care of the baby by herself.
13:11She had no idea that this choice would bring about a major change in her life.
13:17Alessandro knew he was losing control of the situation when Giulia refused to have the abortion.
13:23Her strong choice messed up his plans.
13:26So he had to find another way to get away from what he saw as a problem.
13:31By the end of 2022, he had started to study drugs in a planned way.
13:38He looked all over the internet for ways to hurt people without getting caught.
13:43He looked at which substances were both powerful and hard to find.
13:48His study included chemicals found in everyday items, plant-based poisons,
13:53and even very dangerous chemicals like cyanide and ricin.
13:57But most of the choices he made were either too hard to get or left clear signs in the body.
14:04He finally decided on rodenticides, which are goods that are made to get rid of rodents.
14:11You could easily buy these over the counter and they wouldn't raise any red flags.
14:16He also read that some types worked slowly, leading to internal bleeding,
14:22weakness, and anemia symptoms that were so similar to pregnancy problems
14:26that they were easy to mistake.
14:29Alessandro started carrying out his plan in early 2023.
14:34He started putting small amounts of the poisonous substance into Giulia's drinks and food
14:40in the hopes that her health would slowly get worse.
14:44Within a few weeks, she started having strange symptoms,
14:48like being constantly tired, dizzy, sick, and having sharp stomach pain.
14:55Giulia told her friends that she was sick, but she thought it was just part of being pregnant.
15:01She had no idea that something much worse was going on.
15:05Even though Alessandro thought the effects would get worse faster,
15:09the poison wasn't working as fast as he had hoped.
15:13Angry, he kept looking for ways to make it stronger, but the results were still disappointing.
15:19Giulia was still sick, but her body was fighting back,
15:23and the pregnancy was getting stronger.
15:26This made Alessandro very angry.
15:30His first plan had not worked, and now he had to think of another way to get out of this mess.
15:37It was easy for Alessandro to be in charge.
15:40He carefully planned his lies, knowing just what to say
15:44and how to make each woman believe his story of events.
15:48Giulia thought he was just having a rough time,
15:51and that he would get over what was happening with the pregnancy in time.
15:56Allegra, on the other hand, was sure that the relationship he was in before
16:00had finished a long time ago,
16:03but one wrong move broke the image he had worked so hard to make.
16:09It was the first thing that made Allegra suspicious
16:11that Alessandro became tense whenever they talked about his past.
16:17It was awkward for him to talk about his life before they met.
16:21He never showed her his social media or talked about his ex.
16:26At first, it didn't seem fishy,
16:29but as time went on, more and more problems began to show up.
16:33The real turning point was when she saw new pictures of him
16:37with Giulia on his phone by chance.
16:41It was clear that they were still together
16:43because of the way they looked at each other and how close they were.
16:48Allegra didn't want to jump to conclusions,
16:50so she began to pay more attention and make notes in her head.
16:55He often said he had to leave work late in the evenings,
16:58but his co-workers at the hotel said he had actually left early.
17:02He would sometimes not answer his phone
17:05and then make up reasons that didn't quite make sense.
17:09Alessandro didn't miss a beat
17:11when Allegra finally asked him about the pictures.
17:15Right away, he said that Giulia couldn't accept
17:18that they broke up and was sharing those pictures on purpose
17:21to make him feel bad.
17:24Allegra really wanted to believe him,
17:26but his story didn't seem right.
17:29She asked more questions
17:30and his answers became less and less believable.
17:35Alessandro quickly changed his strategy
17:37when he realized he was losing control.
17:40He said that Giulia wasn't just unwilling to move on.
17:43She had also lied about being pregnant
17:46to hold on to him.
17:48He was now trying to get Allegra to believe
17:51that there was no baby,
17:53but her doubts were only raised by how desperate he seemed.
17:57As a last-ditch effort to make his lie even stronger,
18:01Alessandro even made up a DNA test.
18:05It was used as proof
18:06that he had nothing to do with the child,
18:09that he changed a file he had gotten online.
18:13Allegra at first believed this story of what happened,
18:16but she still had doubts.
18:18Something about her made her feel like
18:20she didn't know everything.
18:21After a few days,
18:24she chose to find out for herself.
18:27She used Alessandro's phone to call Giulia
18:29while he was sleeping.
18:31The answer came back almost right away.
18:34Giulia didn't sound like someone
18:36who was obsessed with getting even.
18:38She sounded like someone
18:39who wanted to know what happened.
18:41Allegra told them
18:42they should meet up in person the next day.
18:45Both women knew
18:46that what they were going to say
18:47would make things different.
18:49They met at the hotel where Allegra worked.
18:53They had already decided on a time
18:54and both of them were tense and determined.
18:59Allegra still didn't know
19:00how much Alessandro was lying
19:01and Giulia couldn't believe
19:03that the man she had planned to marry
19:05had been living two lives.
19:09The talk began with care.
19:12Allegra spoke first
19:13and told what she had learned.
19:15She told Giulia
19:16that Alessandro had told her
19:18that he was over
19:19with the woman he used to date.
19:21Then she brought up
19:23the so-called DNA test
19:25which she said
19:26proved the baby wasn't his.
19:29Giulia paid close attention.
19:31Allegra quietly told everyone
19:33that the test was fake
19:34when she was done talking.
19:37Her pregnancy timeline
19:38fit perfectly
19:39with the time they had been together
19:41and she had never offered
19:43any kind of test.
19:44even more important
19:46she said
19:47that she and Alessandro
19:49were still living together
19:50and that he had never made her think
19:52that they were no longer together.
19:55Allegra got a better picture
19:57of what was going on
19:58with each passing minute.
20:01From the very beginning
20:01she had been tricked.
20:04Her whole view of their relationship changed
20:06and she was sure of the truth
20:08for the first time.
20:09Even though she was hurt
20:11and disappointed
20:12she didn't feel angry at Giulia.
20:15In fact
20:16it became painfully clear
20:17that they were both caught
20:19in the same web of lies.
20:21They talked for more than an hour.
20:24The two women talked about small details
20:26and put together the big picture
20:28of Alessandro's lie.
20:30As the game came to a close
20:32they stopped seeing each other as foes
20:35and instead felt a strong bond.
20:38That's when Giulia
20:39made her final choice.
20:41She was done.
20:43She didn't want to stay with a man
20:44who had played with her feelings
20:46and was hiding a second life.
20:50Alessandro
20:50had no place in her future.
20:53It was hers
20:54and her child's.
20:56When she got home
20:57she didn't wait for the right time
20:59to talk to Alessandro.
21:01She did it
21:02right away
21:03telling him
21:04she knew everything
21:05and that they were
21:06no longer together.
21:08His response
21:09was exactly
21:10what was expected.
21:13That's the first thing he said.
21:15Then he got angry
21:16and said she was looking
21:17into his private life.
21:19Giulia didn't care
21:20about his reasons though.
21:22She told him in a strong voice
21:24that she was leaving for Naples
21:25and didn't want to see him again.
21:28That night
21:28she texted her mum
21:30and sister
21:31to tell them about
21:32her choice.
21:34They were there for her
21:35and offered to help
21:36in any way they could.
21:38Giulia told them
21:39she would be back
21:40in a few days
21:41but she had to take care
21:42of some things
21:43in Milan first.
21:45She had no idea
21:46it would be her last.
21:49Alessandro understood
21:50he had lost control
21:51after they talked.
21:53Everything he had hid
21:54was now out in the open.
21:57Giulia knew the truth
21:58about his lies,
22:00his double life,
22:00and how he used people.
22:03She turned her back
22:04on him,
22:05stopped listening to him
22:06and made up her mind
22:07to leave.
22:09He was angry
22:09that she was so cool.
22:12That he was in a position
22:13where his lie
22:14was found out
22:15and he had no control
22:16over it
22:17made him feel
22:18helpless.
22:19He felt like
22:20he was losing power
22:21over both Giulia
22:22and the image
22:23he had worked hard
22:24to create.
22:26His entire life
22:27might fall apart
22:28if she told anyone else.
22:31That day
22:31they were so angry
22:33at each other
22:33that they broke up.
22:36Alessandro kept
22:37trying to talk
22:37but Giulia
22:39wouldn't listen.
22:41She kept packing
22:41her things
22:42without showing
22:43any expression.
22:45His anger grew
22:46as she kept quiet.
22:48She was thinking
22:49the wrong thing,
22:50Alessandro told her,
22:51because he loved her
22:52and she should
22:53change her mind.
22:55Giulia didn't answer
22:56though.
22:57He became more angry.
22:59He yelled very loudly
23:00to get her attention
23:01but she wouldn't argue.
23:03When he knew
23:04her choice was final,
23:05he lost all control
23:06of his anger.
23:08He took a knife
23:09off the counter
23:10and hit with it
23:11in a fit of rage.
23:13Giulia couldn't do anything
23:14because the attack
23:16came on quickly
23:17and accurately.
23:19He tried to stop
23:19but it wasn't enough.
23:21Because he was scared
23:22and panicked,
23:24he kept going
23:25and lost all control.
23:27After 37 stab wounds,
23:29Alessandro stood
23:30over her body
23:31and stared.
23:33How bad
23:34what he had done
23:35really was.
23:37He had to get rid
23:38of the proof now.
23:39He knew that blood
23:40left marks
23:41so he couldn't just
23:42leave things
23:43the way they were.
23:44He knew it wouldn't
23:45be enough
23:46to just hide the body.
23:48She was dragged
23:49to the bathroom
23:50where he covered her
23:51in alcohol
23:52and set her on fire
23:54in the hopes
23:55that it would hide
23:56the crime.
23:57But what he thought
23:58the fires would do
23:59didn't happen.
24:01The fire burned
24:02but it didn't destroy
24:04what was left.
24:06Fear set in.
24:07He didn't have a plan.
24:09He got some
24:09cleaning materials
24:10and rags
24:11and began scrubbing
24:13the blood
24:13off of the floor,
24:15walls,
24:16and furniture.
24:18Even though he scrubbed
24:19hard,
24:19the stains
24:20wouldn't come out
24:21fully.
24:22It still looked
24:23like a crime scene
24:24in the flat.
24:26Even though he knew
24:27he couldn't get rid
24:28of all the evidence
24:29of what had happened,
24:30he was still sure
24:31he could get out
24:32of being responsible.
24:34He didn't know
24:35that investigators
24:36would soon put
24:37all the pieces together
24:38and show
24:39that he was guilty.
24:41While Julia's body
24:42was still in the bathroom,
24:44Alessandro realized
24:45what he had done.
24:47His first thought
24:48was to hide his tracks.
24:50Even though he tried
24:51to burn the proof,
24:53it didn't work,
24:54so he had to come up
24:55with another plan.
24:57The first thing
24:57that had to be done
24:58was to make her disappear.
25:01He chose to make it
25:02look like Julia
25:02left on her own.
25:04He did this
25:05by taking her phone
25:06and starting to text
25:07her friends and family.
25:09He knew they would be scared
25:10if she disappeared
25:11all of a sudden,
25:12so he had to make it
25:13look like she had left
25:14on her own.
25:16He told her mom
25:17through text
25:17that she needed
25:18some alone time.
25:20The message was short
25:21and not very clear,
25:23which was just right
25:24to avoid making
25:25people suspicious.
25:27He then texted
25:27one of Julia's friends
25:29and said she had left
25:30but wasn't ready
25:31to say where she was going.
25:33He wanted to buy
25:34some time
25:35so that it would look
25:36like she had just
25:37left on her own.
25:38But that wasn't
25:39the end of his plan.
25:41He was sure
25:42that someone would
25:42eventually call the police,
25:44so he did it himself
25:45just hours after the crime
25:47and said that Julia
25:49was missing.
25:51He said she had left
25:52the house after a fight
25:53and never came back.
25:55His story was easy
25:57to understand.
25:58He went to work
25:59that morning
25:59and found her gone
26:01when he got back.
26:03He added details
26:04on purpose to his story
26:05to make it sound
26:06more real.
26:08He told the police
26:09that her personal items,
26:11passport,
26:11and money
26:12were also gone
26:14which made him think
26:15she might have left town
26:16by herself.
26:18Investigators paid
26:19close attention
26:20but something didn't seem
26:22right from the start.
26:24He seemed shady
26:25and spoke with
26:26too much confidence
26:27like he knew
26:28what questions
26:29would be asked.
26:30His calmness
26:31was scary
26:32because Julia's family
26:34and friends
26:35were scared
26:36and desperate
26:37for answers.
26:38In the meantime,
26:40while the police searched,
26:41Alessandro worked
26:42to hide the proof.
26:44He put her body parts
26:46in the bathroom at first
26:47but he knew
26:48he couldn't keep them
26:49there for long.
26:50He put them in plastic wrap
26:51and sneaked them
26:53to the garage at night.
26:55Over the next few days,
26:57he moved the body parts
26:58more than once.
27:00First,
27:01he hid them
27:01in the basement
27:02of their building
27:02and then he put them back
27:04in the garage.
27:06He was trying to figure out
27:07how to get rid of them
27:08for good
27:08but the longer
27:09he put it off,
27:11the more mistakes
27:11he made.
27:13Investigators started
27:14to look closely
27:15at what he said,
27:16talking to his neighbors
27:17and looking for holes
27:19in his story.
27:20He thought he was
27:21still in charge
27:22but police were already
27:23closing in on him.
27:25When Alessandro told the cops
27:26that Julia was missing,
27:28they did what they usually do
27:30in these situations.
27:32Of course,
27:33the first big sign
27:34came when forensic experts
27:36found blood
27:37in his car.
27:39Modern forensic technology
27:40let detectives find
27:42biological evidence
27:43even though he tried
27:44to clean it.
27:46A quick test
27:46showed that the blood
27:48belonged to Julia.
27:50The second piece of proof
27:51was discovered
27:52in the apartment building's
27:53common areas.
27:55There were light red marks
27:56on the stairs
27:57and in the hallway
27:58that at first glance
27:59looked like dust
28:00or spilled liquid
28:02but chemistry tests
28:04showed that they were
28:05actually traces of blood
28:07that had only been
28:08partly cleaned.
28:10Investigators also noticed
28:11that Alessandro
28:12was acting in a strange way.
28:15He didn't show
28:16real worry
28:17like most people do
28:19when a loved one
28:20goes missing.
28:21He didn't ask Julia's family
28:23for help in finding her
28:24and he also didn't do anything
28:26to help get the word out
28:28that she had gone missing.
28:30He only did what was needed
28:31to officially report
28:33someone missing.
28:35He didn't do anything else
28:36which made people
28:37even more suspicious.
28:40Detectives made
28:40a big discovery
28:41in the case
28:42when they looked
28:43at his electronics.
28:44They took his computer,
28:46phone,
28:47and tablet.
28:48They were shocked
28:49by what they found.
28:51To begin,
28:52they found search records
28:53from months
28:54before the crime.
28:56After reading about poisons,
28:58their effects,
28:59and how to hurt someone
29:00without being seen,
29:02he became more knowledgeable.
29:04Some searchers
29:05even tried to figure out
29:06why some poisons
29:08might not work
29:08the way they're supposed to.
29:10The fake DNA test
29:12he showed Allegra
29:13was another important piece
29:15of proof.
29:16A forensic study
29:17proved that the document
29:18had been changed
29:19and the file
29:21had been downloaded
29:21from a website
29:23that let people
29:24change medical records.
29:26As more proof came in,
29:27it was getting harder
29:29for A. Alessandro
29:30to keep up his story.
29:33Investigators put more pressure
29:35on the suspects
29:36and pointed out
29:37each inconsistency
29:38one by one.
29:41At first,
29:42he stuck to his story
29:43and said he didn't know anything.
29:46But each time
29:46the cops questioned him,
29:48they showed him more facts
29:49he couldn't get away from.
29:51They showed him pictures
29:52of the bloodstains,
29:54asked him about
29:55his search history
29:56and called in people
29:58who had heard shouting
29:59and loud noises
30:01coming from their flat.
30:03When police looked
30:04at Alessandro's movements
30:05in the days
30:06after Julia went missing,
30:08they made a big discovery
30:09that helped their case.
30:11In the days
30:12after she was reported missing,
30:14surveillance video
30:15showed that he went
30:16to the garage
30:17several times
30:18with bags on his back
30:19and then came back
30:21without them.
30:22As more and more proof
30:23came in,
30:25Alessandro's story
30:26started to fall apart.
30:29At some point,
30:30he gave up
30:30and told them
30:31where he had hidden
30:32her body.
30:34Julia's body
30:34was found by cops
30:35on June 1st,
30:372023,
30:39in an overgrown area
30:40near Cenago.
30:42The remains
30:43had been tried
30:44to be burned,
30:45but the process
30:46was stopped,
30:47according to
30:47forensic research.
30:49Authorities
30:50were able to figure out
30:51what killed him
30:52and get solid proof
30:53that he was responsible
30:55for the crime,
30:56even though
30:56he tried to hide
30:58his tracks.
30:59Italy was shocked
31:00when the sad story
31:02of Julia Tramontano's
31:03death came out.
31:05In a country
31:05where crimes
31:06against women
31:07have been a big problem
31:08for a long time,
31:10her case was another
31:11painful reminder
31:12of how dangerous
31:13people can be
31:14when they pretend
31:15to be loving partners.
31:17Protests
31:18broke out
31:19all over the country
31:20after Alessandro
31:21Impagnatiello
31:22was arrested.
31:23Women went out
31:24into the streets
31:25with signs
31:26calling for
31:27harsher punishments
31:28for crimes
31:29that start
31:30with domestic violence.
31:32A memorial march
31:33was held
31:34in Milan,
31:35Naples,
31:36Rome,
31:36and other cities,
31:37and people called
31:38for changes
31:39to the system
31:40to better protect
31:41those who are vulnerable.
31:44Carla Tramontano,
31:45Julia's sister,
31:46spoke out
31:47at one of the protests
31:48and asked lawmakers
31:49to do something
31:51about the shocking
31:51number of cases
31:53where people don't face
31:54real consequences
31:55until it's too late.
31:58At the same time,
32:00forensic experts
32:00and detectives
32:01tried to figure out
32:03what kind of person
32:04did it.
32:05A psychological exam
32:07of Alessandro
32:08showed some troubling
32:10behavioral traits.
32:12He had strong
32:13narcissistic traits,
32:15according to psychiatrists
32:16hired by the court.
32:17He didn't feel bad
32:19about what he did,
32:21and his actions
32:22during interrogations
32:23and court processes
32:24showed that he was
32:25deeply self-centered
32:26and had no empathy
32:28at all.
32:29He only saw
32:30other people
32:31through the lens
32:32of his own self-interest
32:33and didn't care
32:35about their feelings
32:35or experiences.
32:38He did what he did
32:39because he wanted
32:40to keep his image safe
32:42and keep control
32:43over the people
32:44around him.
32:45Any loss of power
32:46sets off
32:48a dangerous reaction
32:49right away.
32:52Alessandro tried to show
32:53he was sorry
32:53during the trial,
32:55but neither Julia's family
32:56nor the people
32:57believed him.
32:58He said he didn't know
32:59how he could have done
33:01something so terrible.
33:03He insisted
33:04it was an act
33:05of spontaneous anger
33:06that he wasn't even aware
33:08he was committing.
33:09But the authorities
33:11showed a lot of proof.
33:12His searches online
33:13for poisons,
33:15the attempt
33:15to poison someone,
33:17the fake DNA test,
33:19and the false report
33:20he gave to the police.
33:22All of these things
33:23showed that the crime
33:24was planned
33:25ahead of time.
33:27After Alessandro
33:28was caught
33:28and arrested,
33:30Allegra worked
33:31with the police.
33:32She showed him
33:33the messages
33:33they had sent each other,
33:35which proved
33:35he had lied
33:36to both her
33:37and Julia.
33:38She also talked
33:40about the fake DNA test
33:41and how he tried
33:42to trick her
33:43many times
33:44during the hearing.
33:46Because Allegra
33:46was a witness,
33:48the authorities
33:48called her
33:49to confirm
33:49important details,
33:51such as how
33:52Alessandro
33:53had hidden
33:53his double life,
33:55how he had lied
33:56about Julia's pregnancy,
33:57and the reasons
33:58he gave
33:59when the truth
34:00came out.
34:01The people
34:02in the courtroom
34:02said Allegra
34:03looked very upset.
34:05He might have
34:06told everyone
34:06the truth too late
34:07if she hadn't
34:08found those pictures
34:09on his phone
34:10by chance.
34:11During her statement,
34:13she talked about
34:14how guilty
34:14she felt
34:15toward Julia,
34:16even though she knew
34:17she had been lied
34:18to by him too.
34:20After the trial,
34:21Allegra wouldn't
34:22talk to reporters,
34:23stayed out of
34:24the public eye,
34:25and tried to
34:26separate herself
34:27from the tragedy.
34:29Later,
34:30she was said
34:30to have left Milan
34:31and moved
34:32to another city,
34:34trying to start over
34:35without having to
34:36think about this case.
34:38The court decided
34:39that Alessandro
34:40was guilty
34:41of first-degree murder
34:42with factors
34:43that made the crime
34:44worse.
34:46These included
34:47how cruel
34:47the crime was,
34:49how the victim
34:49was emotionally abused
34:51for a long time,
34:52and how he tried
34:53on purpose
34:54to destroy proof.
34:56He got a life term
34:57in prison.
34:59In his or her
35:00closing remarks,
35:01the judge made it clear
35:02that acts like these
35:04could not be excused
35:06by losing control
35:07or being emotionally
35:08upset for a short time.
35:11Over the course
35:12of several months,
35:13Alessandro's behaviors
35:14made it clear
35:15that he wanted
35:16to get rid of Julia.
35:18People who see
35:19their partners
35:19as things can hurt them,
35:21and her case
35:22was a sad reminder
35:24of that.
35:25But people did hear
35:26Julia's story.
35:27It made people angry
35:29and started a movement
35:30to protect people
35:31who still could be saved.
