Elena Mabano and her colleagues at the Toril Kalambuan Association show handbags made from tarpaulins and discarded plastic sachets at their shop in Toril, Davao City, on Thursday, June 5, in celebration of World Environment Day.
Most of the tarpaulins were donated by defeated congressional candidate Mags Maglana and are now being upcycled into handbags.
Mabano and her group have been upcycling discarded plastics for about a decade.
This year’s World Environment Day 2025 calls for collective action to promote and implement solutions to combat plastic pollution. (via Keith Bacongco | MB)
