Marcos won't meddle with VP Sara's impeachment trial 'debates'

Malacañang has once again distanced itself from the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, saying President Marcos will not intervene in the ongoing debates about it.  Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro reiterated that Marcos leaves the matter to the Senate. 00:00First of all, the President said that this is in the hands of the Senado.

00:06The President didn't know what the President was going to do with the debate.

00:14The idea of the Senado is to say,

01:41nangangamba po ba yung palasyo na hindi na matutuloy

01:44yung impeachment trial, lalo na po at may mga kumakalat na balita

01:48na merong mga draft resolutions

01:56Kung matuloy po o hindi matuloy ang impeachment,

01:59mukhang hindi na po yan sakop ng ating Pangulo.

02:05sana po ay huwag ipahid sa Pangulo

02:08kung ano man po ang magiging decision ng Senado dyan.

02:11Kasi marami po tayo nakikita,

02:13katulad po ng iba mga protesters,

02:15ginagalang po natin ang kanilang mga opinion at mga ginagawa.

02:18Protesters na gustong ipatuloy ang impeachment trial.

02:22Pero sana po ay iwaksin nila sa kanilang isipan

02:25na may kinalaman po ang Pangulo dito

02:27dahil yan po ay solely the responsibility of the Senate.

02:34kung ano po ang gagawin po nila dito

02:36patungkol sa impeachment proceedings.

04:33at maipakitang isang rubber stamp lamang ang Senado?

04:40Hindi natin gugustuhin yun.

04:42At lagi naman pong sinasabi ng Senado

04:47na independent body sila.

04:49At meron tayong separation of powers.

04:52So sa ganitong klase ng issue ng impeachment process,

04:55huwag na po natin ikabit sa Pangulo

04:58dahil ito muli, sasabihin natin,

05:01ay katungkulan ng Senado.
