00:00What we know about alleged shootings near Gaza food distribution sites
00:07Competing narratives have emerged off the back of a series of reported fatal shootings
00:11which targeted Palestinians near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's food distribution
00:15sites close to Rafah.
00:17An initial incident reportedly took place on 1 June near a center run by the US and
00:22Israeli-backed GHF.
00:24Israel denies allegations that its forces opened fire on locals queuing for aid in Rafah
00:29while the GHF told you to verify that no incidents occurred at or in the surrounding vicinity
00:34of their distribution site on Sunday.
00:36Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, local witnesses and international organizations say otherwise
00:42declaring that at least 31 people were killed.
00:44The Red Cross said that 179 adults and children arrived at its Rafah hospital with shrapnel
00:50and gunshot wounds, adding that 21 individuals were declared dead.
00:54Following the conflicting reports, the IDF shared this drone footage on X, which it said showed
00:59masked Hamas gunmen shooting at residents queuing for humanitarian aid.
01:03A number of online users interpreted the video as proof that Hamas shot at Palestinians attempting
01:09to access aid.
01:10This Israeli spokesperson said the footage showed an incident in Khan Yunus.
01:14Euroverify conducted reverse image searches but was not able to determine if the video
01:19was connected to the incident.
01:21Yet another incident occurred on 3 June and at least 27 Palestinians waiting for aid in Rafah
01:26were shot dead according to local Hamas-run authorities.
01:29Israel claims it fired warning shots at suspects who were attempting to deviate off designated
01:34access routes through a distribution hub in southern Gaza.
01:37The Israeli army said it was aware of reported casualties and that it was investigating the incident.
01:43Israel has banned international media from accessing the Gaza Strip except on army press
01:47stores, making it difficult to independently verify information on the ground which fuels disinformation
01:53from both sides.
