Sarina Wiegman confirms that Fran Kirby's retirement comes after not being chosen for the Euro 2025 squad.

00:03I think she has had an incredible career, which is still going on in the Women's Super League.

00:10And she's an amazing player, she's an incredible person too.

00:19Has always, when she was in, she was ready to play, ready to perform,

00:25helping others, whatever I asked her to do.

00:30There's a time, I guess, that you stop, but you have to get used to that.

00:37I'm really, really proud of her and I'm very grateful that I had the opportunity to work with her.

00:42When did you find out? And is this because Fran wasn't going to make the final 23?

00:48Yeah, I had conversations with her over this week again, going forward to this game.

00:55And yeah, then I said to her that she most likely was not going to make the squad.
