"The Warp, the Weft and the Weaver" is a documentary series that follows Deborah White, one of Ireland's last damask linen weavers, as she restores a 200-year-old loom. The old loom had the name of James Greene partially scratched on it - one of the last master weavers to use it

00:00You can't build a loom single-handedly. It's just not possible. It's not viable. And they never did.

00:08A machine like this needed a whole crew of specialists to first build a loom and then maintain it.

00:16Experts, craftsmen, problem solvers. And if I'm to have any chance of success, then so do I.

00:23I'll be relying on the craftsmen and women who will help me write the next chapter in this loom's already amazing story.

00:34The idea of making an object that casts shadows, you know, and that's for me, that's the love.

00:41I make the Donegal swimming wheel. I've been making it since I was ten years old.

00:50Some people can be a bit thram and think, no, no, you know, it doesn't matter. But I think it should matter.

00:56It's a bit of a learning curve for me because I have to rely on Deborah to let me know exactly how these things are going to go together.

01:04It's important to keep these things alive for future generations. When it's gone, it's gone.

01:11This won't be a quick fix. So much of what lies ahead will rely on gut instinct, on trial and error.
