00:00Welcome to Seoul, South Korea, where exploring the vibrant streets isn't just a feast for the
00:08eyes, but a banquet for the taste buds. From pizza buffets that offer endless options to
00:16the irresistible charm of Korean barbecue, the comfort of slurping noodles, and the satisfaction
00:22of sinking your teeth into a juicy burger. Over the years, I've compiled a list of the top 20 spots
00:28that promise delicious eats without a hefty price tag. Of course, some of these visits dates back a
00:33few years, so the prices mentioned are based on my experience at the time and today's currency
00:37conversion, which may have changed. Now grab your chopsticks, forks, spoon, or whatever you prefer
00:41as we dive into the delicious, affordable side of Seoul's food scene.
00:58Today, we're in the epicenter of cheap street food, Noryangjin. And it's cheap because there's
01:04a lot of universities around here, schools, so there's tons of students, and they're cramming
01:09for classes all the time, so they want something cheap and they want something quick. So this
01:13area is just full of delicious eats. Let's see what we can find.
01:17Here, look at this. The menu, everything is under five U.S. dollars. Look at this. This is a lot of kembab.
01:31Kembab is good.
01:40Just a simple bowl of instant noodles with chilies and egg. For some reason, it tastes fantastic.
01:47Little kimchi, little noodles.
01:51Then dip the kembab into the broth.
01:59Very simple, inexpensive, hearty, and delicious. Again, you could just make your own instant noodles,
02:06but you got homemade kembab, some good banchan, get out a little bit from all the studying. Pretty cheap and delicious meal.
02:11And that noodle still retains a lot of chew, even though it's been sitting on hold for a while, especially on a cold day like this.
02:17This is so good. After that, you can open up your jacket a little bit.
02:24See everybody walking around with one of these? It's like a waffle sandwich. I'll do dessert now.

02:31Ooh. Looks good. I think little blocks of cheese. I have no idea what I got. This is just one of their top sellers.
02:41The waffle is really toasty and nice. Nutella inside. It looks like some condensed milk.

02:56Mmm. Oh, I freaking love this. No wonder everywhere I looked, people were just walking around with this thing.
03:04Oh my god. So the little cubes of stuff I thought was cheese. It's some sort of frozen condensed milk thing.
03:10Oh my god. It's ice cream in here. Oh my god. I thought this was like, you know, just tastes like a waffle with Nutella inside.
03:21Who hasn't had that? But this one, oh my. The waffle is the toastiest, crispiest waffle I've ever gotten from one of these like waffle places.
03:29So you take a bite of toasty crispy waffle and you get a mouthful of ice cream, chocolate, and that cube condensed milk, cheesy stuff.
03:38I still don't know exactly what it is. It tastes like a cross between like a ice cream and a cream cheese.
03:45My kitchen now. This is a must-have. Oh, yeah. Come here and get this. Travel here and get this. I would.
03:52This is one of those food items I'm gonna be missing and thinking about when I go home tonight.
03:57I'm literally in a state of my mind being blown right now because I just did not expect this to be that good.
04:02This area is where all the students come. It's like a whole block of food vendors and this one is in particular pretty popular.
04:13It's pancake and a hot dog. This is my ham cheese powder pancake hot dog.
04:20What's crazy about this is the outside of the pancake is really crispy. Inside, soft and airy.
04:27This thing is able to hold the shape because it's molded almost like when you would fold a fortune cookie or something.
04:32This is one of the most interesting pancake hot dog things I've ever seen. Oh, and by the way, you guys missed this.
04:37I dropped it and I caught it. I'm a food ninja. It is what it is. Like I will do anything to save my food.
04:49This is worth a try here.
04:51This is so interesting. The outside has got a thin, crispy shell. Inside, it just tastes like a regular pancake. A little sweet, little doughy.
05:00Besides the mustard and the ketchup, it's crunchy coleslaw over a cooked hot dog.
05:08This is actually pretty tasty. I think the most unique thing about this is the outside pancake shell.
05:13I mean, the way he made it, there must be something with the batter where you've got that nice little crunch outside,
05:18but still able to maintain that pancake consistency inside.
05:35So I got this dish right here for $3,000. So what went into it, some fatty pork belly, whole slice of spam,
05:41bunch of different sauces, and this glorious egg. And all that is sitting on top of steamed white rice.
05:48That is so incredibly tasty for $3. How do I not know about this part of the show before? I mean,
05:58I've been here before, but only to the, uh, to the fish, fish yard. But this, this is where the treasure's at.
06:05The pork belly's great. It brings a little fat, which is always welcome when you have rice.
06:11There's a bit of heat in here to kind of balance out the fat. Of course, you got the creaminess from the eggs.
06:16And I didn't even invite the big chunk of spam to the party yet. And what you do is you're supposed to actually
06:23mix it all together, which I didn't do. I'm watching the people besides me. I'm learning.
06:27It's a little bits of kimchi in here as well. And you've got to just mix it all up.
06:30Oh my gosh. I can't believe this is three bucks. This is so worth it. Make sure that creamy egg yolk just goes everywhere.
06:40This is just so amazingly delightful.
06:46Ah, the love. Every single bite. Creaminess from the egg. Tons of meat in here. Rice is cooked perfectly.
06:53You get a little spice, you get a little fat, a little crunch from the kimchi.
06:56This, for three dollars, you're getting a ton of flavor for the buck. It's like you went to an art sale
07:02and paid 50 cents for a masterpiece painting. Basically, an amazing food bargain.
07:11And this is exactly what I'm looking for.
07:16Army stew. And there's really nothing heartier and more comforting, more perfect on a cold night
07:22than army stew. Also, this is one of the most affordable food items in South Korea.
07:26Army stew is one of my favorite Korean comfort foods. Uh, if you guys never had this before,
07:40this was created after the Korean War when food was scarce. So a lot of the ingredients came from army bases.
07:46That's why you got tons of spam in here and hot dogs. And that was mixed in with with anything that people had available.
07:52So ramen, sprouts, and just put it all together and stewed it in a spicy broth. This is just the most perfect thing on a cold day.
08:01Usually you can get something massive like this for one person for about seven, eight, maybe ten dollars.
08:07I mean, this is Hyundai area, so it's gonna be a little more expensive, but this is not an expensive food item,
08:13even though it looks ginormous.
08:20Inside the stew, little octopus, tons of ramen, tofu, spam, hot dogs, rice cakes, sprouts, kimchi.
08:31Everything that will fill you up and warm you up is in here.
08:35Oh, I've been looking forward to this all day. First bite of army stew, whatever I'm in Seoul, makes me so happy.
08:44I love so much this dish. And what's also so good about this dish is that we've all cooked army stew at some point in our lives.
09:03Whether we're in school or whatever, where we're broke and only thing we had access to was instant noodles and bits of hot dogs.
09:10Then you just boil everything together, you toss in whatever you had in the cupboards, toss in some hot sauce, and this is what you get.
09:18This is basically something that you cooked up in your dorm room or your first apartment that you couldn't quite afford.
09:24I mean, I remember having two rice cookers when I was in college. One of them, every Friday night, that would be like the gourmet night for me.
09:33It would go instant noodles, little bits of hot dogs, some scallions, whatever the heck else that was almost expired that I could get for cheap at the local Kroger.
09:41Second rice cooker would just have rice and I would just put this on top of my rice and that would be like the best meal I had that week.
09:48So eating dish, not only because it's so good, it's a comfort food I feel like most of us can relate to and most of us can take a bite of this and be like,
09:56Oh yeah, I remember those days. I mean, typically we wouldn't be able to afford the little octopus or be able to find that anywhere in this great state of Missouri.
10:04But everything else, the Spam, the little hot dogs, definitely.
10:08I can already feel the sodium attacking my hands. This is a good conclusion to any food day. Any food day.
10:23And then with this, you're going to be really happy and you're going to sleep really well.
10:28Here it is. All you can eat Korean buffet, 7,000 won.
10:38Not a bad spread.
10:42That is delicious fermented bean soup. Nice tofu, good veggie.
10:50So on the buffet, there's a lot of things. There's probably around four meat related items.

11:03Good seaweed salad. I know I'm praising like things that may seem pretty ordinary, but it's spectacular.
11:11A little sprinkle of chilies. Love the crunch. Love the aromatic sesame seeds. It's a rare occasion.
11:19I compliment salads, so.
11:24You know it's got to be good. They got this massive tray of cookie.
11:27A little overly sweet for my taste, but juicy and tender.
11:34I think if you're a vegetarian, you would love this buffet. I mean all the salads I've had, I have to hook.
11:42I think this is a fried fish.
11:48Excellent. Tremendous crunch on that fish. Everything I've had so far. Quality.
11:57This is the place I always come to whenever I'm in Korea.
12:0112,000 won will get you unlimited spicy pork gauly.
12:06You're never going to stick it out. And every cut of meat you get, once you get it all you can eat, it's less than $10 and the meat quality, again, excellent.

13:01That's so good. It takes a special kind of meat when it overshadows the beef that's on your grill, but pork, that thing definitely does.
13:08It's tremendously juicing. They cut it really thick, so the juice is just retained in here. Little sweet, tons of smoke from the charcoal.
13:15You don't need to dip that in anything. Only route, that thing needs straight from the grill to your mouth.
13:21Alright, the star has arrived. Spicy bulgogi. This is what you come here for.
13:25If you can't intercept them before they bring you the first order of like the regular bulgogi, start with the spicy because you want to start with it, you want to finish with it.
13:33This is it. The reason I always come to this place.

13:51There's a lot of really cheap pork all-you-can-eat barbecues in Seoul.
13:55They're all average around like 10, 11, 12 dollars. Come here and try this. So much spice.
14:04Juice is amazing too. It's rare where you can like, where you find like pork, where you can eat so much and still feel like you want more.
14:14Because usually the meat is so fat. This is slap meat in the face good. There's some parts of that galbi that got little pieces of cartilage too.
14:20Ah, that's a nice chew.
14:23All-you-can-eat Korean buffet, it's about five dollars.
14:33There's quite a lot of dishes on the buffet. It's a five dollar buffet so not really expecting much.
14:42There's three meat dishes and then a bunch of veg dishes. Some banchan as well. Everything is homemade.
14:47It's a little chewy, crispy little fish with sesame on that.
14:54That's awesome. Also, the kimchi is extremely spicy.
15:00In the meat dishes, a little bulgogi. Spicy bulgogi.
15:13This thing is slightly sweet.
15:14Cold chili peppers in there, which brings the heat.
15:20The flavor is really, really nice as well.
15:23That brings way more heat than the gochi jam.
15:27I like the fact that there's a ton of fat on this pork.
15:33This is definitely a little local secret. If I came later, I don't think I could have got a seat.

15:52This looks like spicy pepper beef and cabbage and blood sausage.
16:03I got the rest of the banchan. Basically got the rest of whatever I didn't get last time.

16:19Fish cake is so tender.

16:29That might be the best thing out here.

16:40And this pepper steak. This tastes more like tofu.
16:42I mean, if you really wanted to get by on a budget in Seoul, places like this is how you do it.

16:50It's not even like you're eating at a cheap buffet. The food doesn't taste as good.

17:09Got to order the pork belly, which again, runs for about $5.00.
17:12Kimchi, sprouts, lettuce, and here it is.

17:23Put it on the bottom.
17:25And the cooker is slanted.
17:28So when the pork belly cooks, all that nice fat is going to just flow all over the kimchi.
17:34And that, it's going to stir fry the kimchi with pork fat, making it even more delicious.
17:37And that, it's going to be even more delicious.
17:38It's going to blow your belly.
17:39And that, it's going to start eating.
17:40We're almost like eating the pork belly.

18:12sprouts and kimchi we got two orders of pork belly it's about 10 bucks
18:20unlimited kimchi sprouts all the banchan you want stir-fried all that up with
18:26some garlic oh man this is a delicious pork belly my advice 100% throw the
18:40garlic on that best way to eat this dip the pork belly a couple garlic some
18:46stir-fried kimchi and sprouts and the kimchi and sprouts are so good because
18:50they're cooked and all that nice pork belly fat the reason why I love this
18:56country so much if you want to go for some super quality beautifully marbled
19:02beef you can do that we'll just go to a local restaurant and get a pork belly
19:06barbecue for about five bucks you can do that as well and both places are gonna
19:12taste exceptional I love walking around Sinchang this area has got so many
19:16hidden gems I'm burning this a little bit right now in the quality of pork they
19:23use it it's so delicious again no gaminess nothing like that just pure good
19:27quality pork again cook the kimchi and the sprouts in all that nice pork fat I
19:32just makes everything taste so much better
19:38if a la carte isn't your thing you can easily find an all-you-can-eat barbecue
19:42buffet for about 13,000 won so about ten dollars around here too so this area
19:46really is the place to go if you want some good inexpensive food oh this is good
19:51let's see what else is on the menu
19:56so everything on the menu is pretty much four or five dollars for water so got
20:01some pig skin and I just kind of randomly pointed so we'll see what else shows up at
20:06the table

20:30eat it with some kimchi and some sprouts
20:44put some roasted garlic on that as well
20:52and the bunch on there always replenish and that's like a meal on its own

21:42This place is incredible value all you can eat jjajang for about five thousand once so around 350 for this new go buffet

21:59They start you off with that massive massive bowl

22:11This is so freaking good. This might just be the best noodle deal in all of South Korea
22:15Hands down noodles cook very well. It's got such a nice chew to it. The sauce is deep rich earthy and delicious little sweetness from the caramelized onions
22:24There's bits of pork tons of umami in this bowl jjajang min
22:30The noodle was really really good texture is perfect
22:35The jjajang sauce not overly sweet, but if it feels a little too rich chase it with some kimchi
22:40Oh, and the kimchi has shreds of pork in there as well
22:46I'm not sure if the price is affecting my appetite, but this is as good of a jjajang min as I've ever had
22:50I mean everything about this sauce took the noodles. You just want to keep slurping this thing
22:57Grab a little bit of chili powder add that in for some additional

23:04And what I see people doing is taking the jjajang sauce mix it with the fried rice
23:16Yeah, the sauce goes really really well with the fried rice drop in a little kimchi
23:23This is so freaking good also chase your jjajang min with some raw onions
23:30Juicy and sweet. I definitely recommend adding some chilies in here like this a little spicier
23:34Add some kick to your jjajang min and they have other stuff besides jjajang min if you want all you can eat jjajang
23:39Which are korean spicy seafood noodles. That's seven dollars a once about five bucks. All right
23:43It's pretty good deal too
23:44And when you're ready for a second bowl of jjajang min just go up to the counter speak to the manager

25:04What's really impressive about this place well besides the fact that there's literally about a hundred people here and they just opened up
25:09It's only about six dollars and you can get as much as you want and there's unlimited beer
25:13There wasn't a lot of chicken options when I got to the chicken. This is like I think sweet and sour fried chicken
25:21The chicken is phenomenal
25:23And this thing has got a ton of flavor really crispy spicy sweet and savory
25:29So chicken is freaking fantastic

25:38I got a lot of these giant chunks of ribs
25:42I can't believe this buffet is only six dollars everything is so freaking good
25:46The common theme here seems to be spicy a lot of spicy items here, which is what I love

25:52A lot of flavor as well that goes so well with the purple rice and the soup
26:00This soup is absolutely phenomenal
26:02So much blood in every single bowl
26:05I don't know people usually do they usually just power everything they want in the tray one time
26:08It's a giant tray so this thing can fit a ton of food
26:14That was a satisfying comforting meal
26:17I mean everything tastes like it came out of mom or grandma's kitchen
26:19I've been to a few of these really economical buffets
26:22I think this place 100% best quality
26:24Usually there's not that many meat dishes here
26:27There was chicken, humberg steak, giant pieces of ribs
26:30All delicious
26:31A lot of spicy items
26:33My tongue is still tingling
26:34The soup is awesome
26:36The fried chicken is ridiculous
26:38If you ever do come here definitely get a lot of that
26:40And I'm in this area where there's a lot of office buildings
26:43So it's mainly office workers going in for a quick meal
26:45But for around six us dollars
26:47The flavor, quality, the variety
26:49You're not going to beat this place
26:51So if you're in Seoul and you want to get some quality Korean comfort food
26:54That's the place

27:03For this
27:17This is a very popular skimming place
27:23So if you just want to come here and get a regular bowl of skimming
27:26It's only 9,500 won
27:27Which is about seven us dollars
27:29Making this incredibly affordable
27:32I jazzed it up a little bit
27:33I got a thick piece of char siu
27:34I got an egg as well
27:36But even this combo is about 10 bucks
27:38And look at how thick this piece of char siu is
27:43Wow beautiful golden color on the outside
27:47Giant layer of fat
27:50It's just beautiful
27:53And the noodles are glorious looking as well
27:56Glistening and gorgeous
28:00So as for spicy
28:01So there's some chili powder on top as well
28:07This noodles grabbing onto that dip the sauce so well
28:13This is freaking fabulous
28:15Boa skimming
28:16The noodles are so scrumptious
28:18You taste hints of sweetness from the wheat
28:21And the texture just absolute perfection
28:26The dipping sauce is rich and thick
28:31And it's just an absolute umami explosion
28:33The dipping broth you definitely taste the anchovies
28:36Oh and the chilies they put in here
28:37They're not messing around
28:38My whole tongue is on fire
28:40But you never want to stop eating these noodles

28:51This is one of the greatest pieces of char siu that ever laid on top of noodles

29:32So here you can either get cold soup noodles with meat
29:35Those soup cold noodles with meat or bibimbap with meat
29:39Where you go for their winter season selection
29:41You get a sizzling bibimbap
29:43Or beef soup
29:45Or knife cut beef noodle soup with meat
29:47Again for around 9,000 won
29:59Usually I love some cold noodles with my barbecue
30:02But I've been eating that for I think 2-3 days straight
30:05So some sizzling bibimbap

30:09Toasty rice bits, crunchy veg, meat, mushrooms, scallions
30:18With some spicy gochujang tying it all together
30:21Combine that with some sweet really smoky barbecue
30:26Oh this barbecue is amazing

30:29There's a ton of smoky flavor in that meat

30:32Whether you're getting cold noodles or beating them up

31:37This is by far the biggest all-you-can-eat pizza buffet I've ever seen in my life
31:59The only other all-you-can-eat pizza buffet I've ever been to was the one at Pizza Hut
32:03But not every Pizza Hut has them and it would just be like about maybe seven or eight so pizzas and a little salad bar
32:08This is intense. This is dozens of items. I count over at least 60 different items
32:13The appetizer non-pizza portion of the buffet is just tremendous. You got blood sausage here
32:24Tastes like buffet blood sausage. So a lot of this stuff obviously they're kind of like fusion Korean
32:30Italian food. This is carbonara glass noodles
32:38Dare I say I really like that the sauce is creamy extremely spicy like you would never find something this spicy in Italian food
32:45But this is fine. This is like Koreanized a lot of added spice to make their own potato chips
32:52I see like chefs back there just cranking the stuff out, so it's relatively fresh
32:57Oh, yeah, it's corn. It's intense. It's like butter and I think this is like cheese sauce on top of this corn

33:34One bite I knew this thing tasted off somehow but upon closer inspection
33:43Let me show you what I found. Is that broccoli on this pizza? I knew I tasted my enemy
33:51I have a little idea after a few bites exactly what this is. First of all this bulgogi on here, which is amazing
33:56I guess it tastes really good on pizza. Huge beef flavor. On the ends there
34:00There's some mayonnaise or some kind of sweet cheese and then there's like cheese and broccoli on this
