00:07this interaction so any uh leadership lessons you want to share with them
00:13even before adhoyat life education was founded i was teaching leadership
00:19there was something done two decades back and left behind it was only very recently that
00:26questions on leadership again came to me in context of the loksabha elections
00:30otherwise spirituality is more of an inner thing so leading others is not something that i usually
00:40speak on but yes you see if you want to lead people
00:50you have to understand the difference between
00:57healing and exploitation
01:02like the pied piper you could lead them to their doom
01:10for a while you will register some success if we take a screenshot it would show you as
01:20the leader with an entire army following you but it doesn't help
01:26a few months a little a bit of fame that's the maximum you will be able to draw from it
01:41leadership is engagement engagement with a lot of people
01:50you must be very conscious of what this engagement is doing to the other
01:57you cannot relate to the other to perpetuate your own darkness
02:06you fully will know you are not at ease with yourself
02:10and i'm not coming just from theory or gita
02:16i used to conduct a lot of management development programs also
02:24so i have experience with top management
02:29so that was long back i'm coming from there as well

02:40to not to be fooled
02:46you are not there to to charm people
02:52you must first of all go within and figure out
02:59what do you have for the other
03:01it is great disrespect to the other
03:07and injustice
03:10to speak to him or her
03:16or even approach him
03:19before being internally sorted
03:23i do not know my own life
03:28i do not know the source of my own motivations
03:33i do not know where my own desires come from
03:37and i want to infect the other with the same desire
03:45in the name of leadership and motivation
03:49am i sure that these desires
03:52or the goals i have set for myself
03:55have first of all been auspicious for me
03:58what has not worked for me
04:01how will it work for the other
04:04the path that i am taking right now
04:07has it been good even for me
04:12or is it a path that i am kind of sleepwalking on
04:18so the best leaders are really good for their followers
04:25the best leaders produce leaders
04:32and the general ones are more exploiters than leaders
04:43they would want the follower to remain a follower
04:49they have a stake in never letting the follower become a leader
04:53so when you engage with someone
05:00whether as a teacher or a leader
05:03you have to ask yourself
05:05how soon
05:06will this person's dependency on me evaporate
05:12the student is not with you
05:15to perpetually remain a student
05:17and the follower is not with you
05:20to forever remain a follower
05:21engagement is tremendous responsibility
05:28if you are touching someone
05:30you have to touch
05:31with responsibility
05:32with care
05:34i dare say with love
05:36else don't touch anybody
05:38if you are speaking to someone
05:43you are entering his mind
05:45you cannot enter somebody's mind
05:48to spoil it
05:50speaking is tremendous responsibility
05:53policy making is tremendous responsibility
05:55the policies that you are making in your organization
05:57are going to affect so many people
06:00hundreds probably thousands
06:02you must be very conscious of what your policies are doing to the mind
06:09of the employee
06:11and also to the mind of all your stakeholders
06:17including your customers consumers
06:20the general public
06:21let me put it more materially
06:31all businesses exist to fulfill a need
06:36right
06:37if a business does not
06:43clearly realize the need it is addressing
06:48it will not survive
06:49and all businesses need a customer
06:54the customer is the human being
06:58the most fundamental need of the human being
07:05is realization
07:09illumination
07:09call it peace
07:11call it love
07:12whatever
07:13hence you must be able to
07:18through your product or service
07:20in some way bring
07:23illumination
07:24and peace to your customer
07:26because that is the most fundamental human need
07:30and the customer
07:31is
07:32first of all a human being
07:35you are dealing with a human being
07:36and you say
07:37I am here to fulfill a need
07:39first of all know
07:40what that word need means
07:43you
