Transcript
00:00I need my wita bits. Time to get the muscles out for this one.
00:06North of Newcastle, PC Jamie Leslie is feeling strong.
00:10What I'll do is I will try and push you back.
00:13Just to try and give the space room for the recovery truck to get in.
00:17But on second thoughts, not that strong.
00:20You alright pushing from the front? And I'll steer.
00:23Just I want to try and keep it in the carriageway.
00:25Work smarter, not harder you see.
00:36No, no bother at all. If you need out else just give him a shout alright?
00:40See, that's how you do it. Get him to do the heavy work bit.
00:45He loved it man. He felt part of it.
00:50Bad drivers, beware.
00:53If the cops don't catch you, dash cam will.
00:57With 25,000 traffic convictions a year, down to your cameras,
01:02Britain's deadliest drivers
01:05have nowhere left to hide.
01:08Here we go.
01:11And on the front line
01:13It's conduct.
01:14Are our motorway cops.
01:16Can we gun? Why aye, of course we're gunning.
01:18We join Northumbria police.
01:20You're not getting a selfie with us, no.
01:22I've just took your car off you.
01:24As they chase down dangerous drivers.
01:27Mother, mate you're all bladded.
01:29You've had a drink haven't you?
01:30I've had two.
01:31And get the worst offenders.
01:32Did they do what I've just done with Stu Kennedy?
01:35But I nearly got away.
01:36Nearly got away but you didn't.
01:38Off our roads.
01:40Do you know how they're good?
01:41Yeah.
01:42Anything I do say may be given in evidence Mr Officer.
01:46Helping them in their battle with idiots behind the wheel.
01:49Is dash cam.
01:52Have you seen the dash cam footage?
01:53It's vital evidence.
01:55Do you want your address there?
01:56And proof.
01:58That Britain's dumbest drivers.
02:00Do you want your turn?
02:01Are a law unto themselves.
02:04Police one, criminal nil.
02:06DEEPER
02:16Tonight.
02:17Then let's crash.
02:18A hit and run suspect comes clean.
02:20You're sorting?
02:22I can't give you my show off of you.
02:23A pursuit with a tipper truck ends in disaster.
02:26and a lawbreaker was unnecessary wasn't when you got a load of drugs on you finds a new partner in
02:40crime feel like I'll be a couple there the Northeast of England isn't usually famed for
02:52its weather but at Eatle Lane station in Newcastle today's outlook is positive
02:58well isn't this glorious I'm bringing the good vibes tonight
03:06take this bad lad the Duchess just a valiant vessel isn't it it's just classy loud in your face
03:21at least that needs to be tamed a bit like me to be fair goodness
03:27his high-powered cop car isn't the only set of wheels to get PC Jamie Leslie's heart racing
03:37I am a little bit sunburned long weekend down at the F1 and so wasn't I've picked up a few driving
03:47tips from them to be fair I they're probably not quite at my standard and quite like to challenge
03:55them to a race I wish we kind of had a pit crew like them where we could get our tires changed as
04:00fast Formula One pit crew will do it in about I think 1.97 seconds is there is the record let's
04:09say stand at about three hours for us
04:16please emergency it's from silver racing Mercedes saloon which drive I've had masks on
04:26certain in the back didn't have nothing on what is the registration
04:31I think pretty much everyone and anyone's going to it
04:59it's all the tactical units going firearms are going
05:04Tango 10.58 that's me on Kilmath way now
05:11it's just past me continuing Kilmath way towards the A19 it's got the rear bumper missing
05:24yes yes just playing catch up now motorway cops will stop at nothing to keep car thieves from causing
05:38chaos on our roads in Birmingham West Midlands police behind a stolen car but when the thief spots the cops in
05:50his rear view he puts his foot down the suspect throws the stolen car around tightly packed streets
06:02missing other vehicles by inches
06:06and in his desperation to get away goes head-on with other motorists
06:22and finally crashes the robbed motor before making off on foot but he's not as fast on his feet the driver
06:42pleaded guilty to burglary theft of a car and dangerous driving he was sentenced to four years in prison
06:49it's just past me in Newcastle Jamie has eyes on a suspected stolen car
07:04couldn't tell when I spun round it might have
07:12come on
07:17mate have eyes on it here
07:24stand by I think I'm behind it
07:26stand by and notice
07:32nah, and so
07:39what an idiot
07:40It's just pinged eastbound
07:53Back on it
07:56We're back in the game
07:57Paul's not lost
07:58It's just pinged again
08:02Are you behind the vehicle?
08:09As more cops close in
08:14One patrol has the suspect car in their sights
08:21People's crashed
08:30Dodgy drivers paint a poor picture of Britain's roads
08:42There's little sign of artistic flair
08:49But plenty of brushes with danger
08:54These motoring masterpieces
09:00Are far from a work of art
09:03In Newcastle
09:14Jamie has joined the hunt for a suspected car thief
09:17And one patrol has the wanted vehicle in their sights
09:21The driver has ploughed into queuing traffic
09:50There's potential damage to their vehicles
09:53We've got one male drive detained
09:56Two detained
09:59We've got run up from the vehicles
10:15So we're just making our way down to the area now
10:20What's the description of your lad?
10:22The model I'm standing there
10:24Tall with blonde hair
10:26That's all in black
10:31That's the one I've looked and thought
10:3210.58
10:37I've got someone matching that description
10:39It's just jumping in that car
10:40Hello
10:50Have you got someone in the back of your car at all?
11:05Have you?
11:06Just stop there
11:07Two seconds
11:07I need to speak to you
11:08All right?
11:18Just put your handcuffs just for the time being
11:20You've just ran off from there
11:22Have you?
11:23Can you jump out for us?
11:27You're soaking
11:27Come and have a sit in the back of my car
11:33What do you want?
11:34Whatever it is
11:37It's got nothing to do with me
11:38He's here in your car
11:45Let's get a look at him
11:46Jump in there
11:51That's him
11:52Yeah
11:52Tango 10.58
11:54So what's the conversation been between you and him?
12:03Can you come and get this from my friends?
12:06I see it's yeah
12:07Not mention anything about making off from police?
12:10Nothing
12:11Not a single thing
12:12Ma!
12:14Ma!
12:14Are you deaf?
12:17I can't put them by your back man
12:20You mean it's all right man
12:21What do you mean?
12:22I'm uncomfortable man
12:23Oh man you're not the
12:25Listen to me now son right
12:29I'm not trying to be funny all right
12:30But you're kind of be doing that
12:31I haven't done nothing wrong mate
12:32No you're acting like an idiot
12:34Aren't you?
12:35Are you going to be chilled out?
12:37I am
12:37I'm sorry
12:37I apologise
12:38Sir
12:40Oh god
12:45So what do you mean
12:55Oh come on
12:57You tell me
12:59You must think I came down in the last shower
13:01What's the craziest police chase you've ever done?
13:06What's the craziest police chase you've ever been in?
13:08I've only had some beautiful teapack in my car
13:12I wasn't proper teapack in that one
13:15I know
13:16Next time I'll show you a proper teapack then
13:18He he he
13:18He he he
14:49Good morning, Mark. How are you? You all right?
14:56Morning, Sergeant. Who's driving today then, Sergeant?
15:00Person in charge. Keys are already obtained. No coin toss required. I'll look after you.
15:05I'll just do as I'm told.
15:06Right, shall we get out?
15:12As Acting Sergeant Andy Clark and PC Mark Crammond head out in an unmarked car, there's talk of an upgrade.
15:19If you could have any police car from any era or even any car to make a police car, what would it be?
15:27McLaren F1.
15:29Good, sounds good. A couple of pop-up cones.
15:31Pop-up cones on the passenger seat.
15:34What uniform do you think you would wear, though?
15:36Shorten T-shirt.
15:38I can just imagine you having a full race boiler suit on and then you move your helmet.
15:44Why would I have a helmet on?
15:45Well, because I just, I don't feel safe enough, passenger seat.
16:00What are they doing?
16:02Did he look like he was, like, dealing out the window there?
16:04I don't know, he's just handing him something there. He's walking off now.
16:08Try and get round, yeah.
16:09He's moving off now.
16:17Do you think he's going to make off, yeah?
16:18No, he's just shot round that bend there.
16:20Is he going? Is he going?
16:25I think he's going a bit quick, isn't he?
16:27Yeah, all right.
16:29I don't know if he's trying to lose me on these streets, yeah?
16:30It's a bit of a minefield around the spike of wall.
16:37What's he doing? Oh, he's stopping there, look at it.
16:39Is he?
16:43He's just pulling up there, mate.
16:48Oi, mate, you OK?
16:49Come here, a sec.
16:50Mate, he's running.
17:07Stand up.
17:07Stand up.
17:07Stand up.
17:08Are they?
17:08Open that hand.
17:13Read.
17:14Locked up for a hair.
17:15Possession of classic intent supply.
17:18What are you like?
17:19A morbidly obese man I shouldn't be running.
17:21And it's him.
17:25That was unnecessary.
17:27Wasn't when he got a load of drugs on you.
17:29Bit old for that, aren't you?
17:30This lad's got drugs on him, so if you could just spook a cell
17:36Yes, received by, no problem
17:38Now take this off, put that hand on top of your head, okay?
17:42Oh, your hand
17:44Just drop down and pop me your back
17:49Don't run
17:52Help me with that
17:54Yeah, comfy
18:00I feel like you're happy to couple, yeah?
18:10I'm just searching the car, make sure there's nothing else on it
18:12I was wondering if that was a bag of drugs, but I think it's a filthy nappy
18:15Okay, I'm going to request a sample of saliva off you
18:19Test for cannabis and cocaine, you used any?
18:22No, no, I didn't
18:22I thought I'd hold you on me
18:23I just mean I didn't take drugs on you
18:26Can you just pop your tongue out for us, please, Paul?
18:29That's it
18:30Thank you
18:31I've tested positive for cocaine as well
18:44I didn't pay cocaine, mate, I've got a hold of me
18:46Well, you're further arrested for section 5A of the road traffic after cocaine
18:50I don't know, I can't wait that much
18:51Luckily, Mark was hot on his heels, I managed to get him caught
18:58I did the easy bit and stayed with the car
19:00I think that's experience over youth
19:03I'm an athlete, I recover quicker than him
19:06I'm surprised it took us so long to catch him
19:09I was trying to phone down the stairs
19:10You know, last year, the police have, like, the police Olympics, if you like
19:17I won the 5m egg and spoon race
19:21Right, let's get ourselves away and get you tucked up in bed
19:27At least you're comfortable
19:30As long as you have the last laugh, eh?
19:33You know what I'm a little bit gutted about?
19:38You didn't stretch?
19:39Because when you went down the stairs, I jumped down the whole lot
19:42I thought in my head, I'm going to twist my head when I land
19:44Did you jump down all the stairs?
19:46Did you hop skimming or jump?
19:55Mind your head
19:56Alright, keep holding you so you don't fall over
20:16Good job, that's good lock-up
20:19Aye
20:19It's good running there, mate
20:21I've still got it, like
20:23I'm still fasting over about 50 metres
20:25Where anything more than that
20:26You'll have to start putting sweets down to make me run
20:28I've decided to stay with the car to keep it safe
20:32You always need to secure the car
20:34Ah
20:35Make sure the taser works before we take it out
20:54Make sure there's no warning lights on it
21:00Make sure it's got battery
21:01Make sure it activates
21:02Because I might as well have a banana in there if it doesn't work
21:06If I've got to pull it out and use it
21:07The weather forecast's wrong
21:14This was meant to be late until midnight that I'm complaining
21:17A dull day at work
21:25Is just what PC Martin Anderson needs
21:28I had a little bit too much sun yesterday
21:33I know that's probably hard to believe with
21:35You know, my skin colouring
21:38You'd probably suspect that I would normally go nice and brown
21:41And
21:41But unfortunately not
21:43I go very, very red
21:45I have a little bit of soreness
21:46And then I go back to being just as white as I was beforehand
21:49So
21:49After three hours of being in the UK
21:52Summertime sunlight
21:54I had to crack open the aftersun last night
21:56To take the sting out of it
21:58Because it was quite sore
21:58This has actually went down a little bit
22:00Got a possible clone
22:08Northbound
22:09It's a grey Renault Clio
22:12It's good because we're all out as well
22:42It's like six cars south today
22:44We're either hoping that one of us gets an eyeball on it
22:48Or we get another ANPR activation
22:52Give us a bit of a hint as to where it is
22:54This clone, it's extremely active
23:00It has been for the last week or so
23:01But all these patterns I can see
23:04Is usually when it goes over the bridge
23:06It'll come back 20 minutes later
23:09There you go, then we'll hang about here
23:12I'm waiting here
23:14Yes, it comes back over the bridge
23:17Lima 274, then
23:22That vehicle just pinged
23:24With it now
23:29Sommi, I'm just on the sea front
23:34I'll be with you shortly
23:35Bad drivers are rewriting the rules of the road
23:49Adding new twists to the tail
23:53And unexpected page turners
24:01It's clear, some characters
24:05Have completely lost the plot
24:12In Sunderland, Martin is racing to back up PC Tommy Wade
24:17Who's stopped the driver of a cloned car
24:19Yeah, we're on route
24:21Just outside of Morrison's now, more or less
24:23Yeah, we're on route, just outside of Morrison's now, more or less
24:25You know, we don't know what these people are trying to disguise
24:31What is it they're involved in
24:32You know, we want to make sure that our colleagues are all right
24:35You know, we want to make sure that our colleagues are all right
24:36You know, we want to make sure that our colleagues are all right
24:38It's crazy, and it's so obvious
24:40It's definitely up here
24:41In Sunderland, Martin is racing to back up PC Tommy Wade
24:44who's stopped the driver of a cloned car
24:46Yeah, we're on route
24:47Just outside of Morrison's now, more or less
24:49You know, we don't know what these people are trying to disguise
24:55What is it they're involved in
24:56You know, we want to make sure that our colleagues are all right
24:59Right
25:00You know, we want to make sure that our colleagues are all right
25:01Was it just the one person in it, was it?
25:15It's all right.
25:19Just give us your hands.
25:21Have you got one you shouldn't have?
25:22Come on, help me.
25:23Let's jump out for us.
25:28I've just got to be batty in that rubber glove, mate.
25:30Tobacco?
25:30Tobacco?
25:33I'll leave for this.
25:34Right, jump back in there, buddy.
25:36This nail is quite all recorded with us.
25:39Please show me the provisional licence.
25:42Right, got provisional?
25:44No, I've got it.
25:45I lost it like it for a week to go.
25:46We definitely shouldn't be driving then.
25:49Tango 461 12B.
25:51Just confirm.
25:54It's Cigle and Cleo.
25:56Yeah, it's received, thank you.
25:57Confirm's stolen.
26:02You're joking?
26:04Well, I'm not going to joke about that, am I?
26:05F***, man.
26:06If that changes everything, mate.
26:07I know, you can't believe that, you know.
26:10I just bought the car, and me being daft, mate, went picked up on her.
26:13Aye.
26:13Some people don't always tell you the truth about things.
26:20So he's going to hold you a decent favour back for this thing, hasn't he, mate?
26:23God, we've not spoken to him here, I'll tell you the joke.
26:24Aye.
26:25Right, are you all right, take it to me, now?
26:31Yeah, thanks very much, man.
26:33Oh, no problem, mate, I'll see you in a bit.
26:34Not only is it a clone vehicle, it's actually turned out to be a stolen car.
26:55He's trying to do a good deed for his pal by moving a car which he didn't realise was stolen and on false plates.
27:06I would have been happier if we'd got hands on and got the lock up, but it's a team effort, isn't it?
27:12So, yeah, who knows the next one?
27:15Tommy might come up to back us up when we're slapping the cuffs onto someone shortly,
27:20but I believe that when I see it.
27:22Oh, it is warm today.
27:41I've told the better half to mow the lawn, but she refuses, so I have to do it.
27:45Clearly she doesn't know how.
27:47Does it fit in the same category as washing the car and hoovering the car?
27:50To be fair, she likes doing that.
27:52That's a boss.
27:56It's never a chore patrolling Newcastle for Andy and Mark.
28:04Nice Mustang.
28:08I'd love to be rich.
28:11I would upgrade the house, buy her a family car, and probably just marry her.
28:16You're not married?
28:17How do you manage that?
28:1918 years.
28:20I know you're tight, doggy, but come on.
28:23It's her more than me.
28:24Is it?
28:24Yeah.
28:26And now she's going on about when we're getting married, her don't be an old bride.
28:30Did you tell it was too late?
28:31Today, this pair are committed to catching up with a cloned car.
28:42We've been tasked to look for a motor vehicle, which is allegedly driving around on cloned plates.
28:47There's a load of reasons why people will do that.
28:51One's normally to evade the police.
28:54The second one's to go out and commit crime, normally serious crime.
28:59If you have someone who cloned your reg plates, the best thing to do is get it stopped safely.
29:03Confirmed cloud to Tiguan or force plates.
29:15Received.
29:20Should be a Dacia Sandero, however.
29:23It's possibly on a VW Tiguan, white.
29:29I have to keep my eyes peeled for this vehicle.
29:31So, just got to be prepared for all eventualities.
29:37Oh, man.
29:40In.
29:41Just had sight of the next Tiguan on force plate.
29:45I don't mail driver, I guess it'll be done now.
29:50There's two of our tactical cars with her.
29:52It's really, really good.
29:54Gives her an advantage.
29:56Behind that people now.
29:59Approaching the roundabout with the A1.
30:01So, they're not far ahead of us now.
30:05Tango Fain, he's a five-way.
30:06Just hit the broad way now.
30:08We're not far behind him.
30:10They're approaching the roundabout.
30:12Standby.
30:14They're not roundabout now.
30:15They should just be straight ahead of him.
30:16All tactical are for price.
30:20But embassy should be on tactical box.
30:24Serious criminals are often in the driving seat of cars on cloned plates.
30:29Stopping them is a high-risk move for the cops.
30:31In Ellesmere Port, a car thief in a stolen BMW is making a getaway from Cheshire Police.
30:42Vehicle failing to stop.
30:44The suspect shoots past slowing traffic as the cops close in.
30:49Behind the vehicle now.
30:50Held up by one vehicle.
30:53But he bullies another driver out of the way and floors it.
30:59Speed is currently 60 miles an hour.
31:02Flying into blind bends, the driver hits dangerously high speeds.
31:08The vehicle is now 100 miles an hour.
31:11And he leaves the cops for dust.
31:15Temporary loss at this stage.
31:17But just around the corner is carnage.
31:23The car's gone nowhere after smashing into a barrier.
31:27The driver's done a runner.
31:29But DNA on the airbag finally sees him locked up.
31:35A search of the car boot revealed three different sets of registration plates.
31:40The driver was found guilty of dangerous driving and handling stolen goods.
31:46He was jailed for 22 months and disqualified from driving for four years.
31:58Confirmed.
31:58Flood.
31:59To Tiguan or false plates.
32:03Tangle 385.
32:05We're just there.
32:06Hit the broad way now.
32:07We're not far behind it.
32:09In Newcastle, Mark and Andy are planning to box in a potential cloned motor.
32:16There'll be pre-emptive tactics.
32:17To stop the car and secure the occupants as quickly and as safely as possible.
32:22Behind that vehicle now.
32:24Two or three lanes stationary.
32:27Ready to hear.
32:28That's it.
32:30We're direct behind it.
32:33Shut up.
32:34You're green on the inside.
32:48To the engine off.
32:48Hello.
32:49Hello.
32:49Have your seatbelt off for us.
32:52The vehicle stopped no damage.
33:01Now pass you the VIN on the vehicle.
33:05What's the VRM for that vehicle?
33:07Yankee Foxtrot 73.
33:10So that's got Yankee Sierra 73.
33:14It should be Yankee Foxtrot 73.
33:16One of the letters on it is incorrect.
33:20Look at the reds.
33:26Yankee Sierra 73.
33:27That comes back to a Dacia.
33:31That car is clearly not a Dacia Sandero.
33:34It's a VW Tiguan, isn't it?
33:35Nine times out of ten, when this has happened, it's done on purpose as a criminal offence.
33:43Can I get a dial check, please?
33:46I see one insured to...
33:49Yeah, everything seems to be in order.
33:53No issues.
33:55Clayton error by the garage.
33:56We don't stop them.
33:57We'll never know who's driving.
33:58Could have been for criminality.
33:59On occasion, it does end up being a genuine error, which it does look like it is today.
34:06It's been a good stop.
34:08Manus ID the vehicle.
34:09Scare the living daylights out of the driver.
34:13Get the car shifted and let all these other people who are stuck in traffic get past.
34:19I've got a little bit of sympathy for him, you know.
34:42He thinks he's just driving home.
34:44He's surrounded by police and it is a little bit overwhelming.
34:47And that's how I'd expect the genuine person to react.
34:51You'd expect them to be shook up.
34:53That's why it's such a good tactic, because it catches people off guard.
34:58Good driving, I thought.
35:00Quick.
35:01Quick thinking.
35:02I'll be on it.
35:03Some of you had a rough night.
35:26Parking in the dog section car park, are we?
35:29Tish, tish, tish.
35:31Dog sergeant's going to be barking mad.
35:34Sergeant Dave Roberts has launched an investigation,
35:37and he's chasing down a new lead.
35:41I will quickly check for monroirs.
35:44Labradors, drugs dogs, German shepherds, the usual suttos are in.
35:48Definitely no dogs in there.
35:50Wow, it smells like there has been, though.
35:52Any poodles in the boot?
35:54No poodles in the boot.
35:56Any cocker spaniels in the front?
35:59No, right, let's have a get-up dog vehicle.
36:01Just parked in the very wrong place.
36:06Dave spent 30 years as a cop,
36:08but this old dog is still up for new tricks.
36:15I would love to be a train announcer.
36:18We shall be visiting Rowlandsgill, High Spen, Gateshead, North Tyneside,
36:22Northumberland, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hexham, and the office.
36:25But I think I would probably get bored.
36:38The secret to maintaining your enthusiasm through a shift is just personal resilience.
36:42You never give up, because you never know what the next 10 seconds will reveal.
36:47It's often a case of just that little, little hint, and then suddenly we're on.
36:53I'm just going to briefly stop this vehicle up here, just a routine stop check, just to say hello,
37:06and just see who is in that car.
37:11It's not done anything wrong.
37:13Just the way that they drove to that roundabout saw us and somewhat slowed down.
37:18It could be me being completely over-sensitive,
37:22or then I'll take a bit of a bizarre route through here, so...
37:265-4-1-0-2.
37:41Yeah, I've got a vehicle feel.
37:42It'll stop.
37:43Britain's dodgiest drivers rarely play their cards right.
37:58Jeez, how could I do that?
38:02And they cheat behind the wheel...
38:05..pushing others to snap.
38:11Birdie out.
38:12Jesus.
38:12When patience runs out, it's rarely happy families.
38:32I'm just going to, um, briefly stop this vehicle up here.
38:355-4-1-0-2.
38:46Yeah, I've got a vehicle feel like a stop.
38:49Dave's copper's nose has led him to a car that's decided to make off.
38:54Quest to the authority, four of the chutes.
38:56Seat assistance with the technical units there, supporting dogs so far.
39:00Yeah, do you look at units to break up?
39:04Yeah, yeah.
39:05Turn on your 4-1-1.
39:08It's a right-right.
39:09Roads are wet.
39:11There's no pedestrians in the area.
39:14There's a temporary loss.
39:16Stand by.
39:26Just following the wet tyre marks.
39:30They look to contain two adult males whose identity and destination is unknown.
39:35Yep, re-engaged the vehicle has taken it left-left.
39:41Uh, it's medium-risk speeds 5-0.
39:45Yep, it's another temporary loss.
39:51Bloody speed bumps.
39:55It is here.
39:58It is a case of where, and a case of when, we find it.
40:03One of the other teams has found that car abandoned.
40:16That is so annoying.
40:23Speed bumps, just couldn't keep up with the thing.
40:25Horrendous.
40:27Somebody's clearly parked it here, tight to the fence, thinking it'll not be seen.
40:33Doesn't work that way.
40:36We're not stupid.
40:37Yeah, what was in it and why didn't they want to stop?
40:39There's a question.
40:42Yep.
40:42Well, for me, aside from the dangerous driving, I'm with no doubt that this car's involved in criminality.
40:47I'm going to force entry to the vehicle and search it in location.
40:50Right, are you ready?
41:03It's actually quite clean inside, isn't it?
41:05I'll be with force entry to the vehicle just trying to search it as best I can.
41:09Could you see me get something to mix and keep your enquiries?
41:12I'm going back to a stolen vehicle.
41:24Stolen February last year.
41:27Bloody hell.
41:29Okay.
41:33So we've now identified this actually as a stolen vehicle that's been cloned.
41:37So the list of offences really grows by the minute.
41:42I've done this for 30 years and you do develop a bit of a skill to spot something that's not right.
42:06The fact that we haven't got anybody arrested from it is frustrating
42:08because you want to get everything sewn up in a nice little neat package.
42:12But you've got to accept that, you know, on the balance of the risks that they were taking,
42:17it is still a win.
42:19Because you know it's always present that these things won't go well
42:22and you can find yourself in quite a lot of pain.
42:29Early partners last year looking for a particular vehicle
42:32and some other officers got behind a Ford Transit flatbed
42:36and the shoot started.
42:41I ended up in front of the subject van,
42:44which is never a healthy place to be.
42:45And effectively we were looking to employ a tactic to bring it to a stop.
42:49But unfortunately, before we got a chance to put that in play,
42:52this transit van rammed me off the road.
42:54It was terrifying.
43:03It absolutely was.
43:09I ended up with chest and neck whiplash injuries,
43:14which wasn't very nice at all.
43:17It took about seven or eight months before those symptoms subsided
43:21and it obviously stays with you.
43:23We're trained to avoid it.
43:27We hope that it doesn't happen.
43:28But, you know, people do get hurt, unfortunately.
43:31People are in situations that,
43:33however much we wish we could avoid,
43:36we simply can't.
43:39Never mind the dangerous driving element.
43:41He was charged with a full-on assault.
43:43As a result of which, he got 30 months in prison,
43:46which is really nice to think that the courts are supporting that.
43:53Right, definitely cheese salad time.
44:02Whoa!
44:03Right!
