00:00You see him on Newswire, he's the legendary Scoop Mish, and he also does Marlins games on TV.
00:09He's very famous down in South Florida with all the old ladies.
00:13I used to be hated by those same old ladies when I lived in South Florida, and all the old men.
00:19They all hated me.
00:20I think the Herald called me Satan at one point, but I look good in the picture, I thought, the day that they called me Satan.
00:27I thought I really had a glow to me.
00:29Anyway, Craig, it's good to see you.
00:31A lot of sweeps in baseball over the weekend.
00:35I'd say the one that excited me the most, to be honest with you, was what the Brewers did to the Phillies.
00:41I actually heard boo birds out all weekend at the bank, and I was enjoying it, actually.
00:49Biggest surprise was seeing the, I mean, it depends on how you feel about the category war,
00:54but Jesus Lozardo of the Phillies had the number one war for all pitchers in the National League going into that series.
01:02He gave up 13 runs in one game, but, Scott, it's really hard to identify a lonely series in May or June
01:10and think that that's a precursor to anything else.
01:13I guess the only thing is we've got to look at Milwaukee as a team that's just never going to go away.
01:17I mean, this is two years in a row.
01:18You look right before this seven-game winning streak that they went on, and everyone's like,
01:22ah, they're done.
01:22The Cubs are there.
01:23The Cardinals are ahead of them.
01:25Now, all of a sudden, the Brewers are right there again.
01:27It just doesn't matter who the manager is or who the talent is on that team.
01:30The Brewers are in it every year.
01:31So, my biggest takeaway from them is just never count the Brewers out.
01:34Yeah, and, you know, the Cardinals have won tons of games, but yet they're still four deep of the Cubs.
01:41Have you been surprised by the Northsiders and Crow Armstrong in particular,
01:46who's put his name on a map this year, not only with his bat, but, boy, is he something else in center field?
01:55Yeah, at this point, I think you probably – I know the odds will stay maybe Kyle Tucker has a better chance to win the MVP,
02:01although Ohtani, as long as he's there, he's probably going to win it.
02:04But I would say that Pete Crow Armstrong probably should be number two in the National League.
02:08And, look, the Cubs have made some really savvy moves over the last couple of years.
02:13They're doing this without Imanaga, who's been hurt, too.
02:16So, I definitely think they'll be in the mix, and I think that the Cardinals probably look like the most overrated team
02:21through the first two months of the season.
02:23I cannot imagine that they're going to continue to play this kind of baseball.
02:27And, quite frankly, Scott, this is not the direction that they thought that they would be in this year.
02:31So, I do expect some huge regression to come back from them in the second half.
02:34And I think if they're going to trade players, time is probably coming up pretty soon for them.
02:39So, the Mets beat the Dodgers, right, in two of three at Citi Field, I think, in late May.
02:45And now they start up out in Chavez Ravine, a big four-game series tonight.
02:52And they've won – they just swept the Rockies, and they've won eight of ten.
02:56And how do you think they'll do out on the West Coast against them?
03:00I was watching – and talking to Carver, hi, I was watching the Yankees and Dodgers, you know,
03:06kind of over the weekend and watching them last night.
03:08And they're tough customers.
03:11They're hard to beat.
03:12I couldn't believe they beat Yamamoto.
03:14How do you think the Mets do this time out West as opposed to beating them twice at Citi?
03:19Well, you know, Scott, I don't know if you saw the news about a half hour ago.
03:23The Major League Baseball made the announcement that those three wins against the Rockies
03:27only count for half a win each.
03:29So, I don't know if that's going to affect the upcoming series against the Dodgers, 9-50.
03:38All right, so –
03:38Are you doing stand-up now on the side, too, down there?
03:42What is happening?
03:43It's been a while since we've been on.
03:44Mafia gave me some topics.
03:46I said, you know what, I'm going to build a comedy show around it.
03:48But, no, there are some teams that can go toe-to-toe with L.A., the Phillies, the Mets.
03:54I would have thought the Braves, honestly, with their pitching, too.
03:57But, look, it shouldn't be a surprise that the Mets can fight with some of the best teams in the league.
04:02They have the second-highest payroll in baseball.
04:04So, yeah, I mean, I think it'll be a really good series.
04:07You just have to wonder, you know, from a betting perspective, honestly,
04:10coming off the weekend that the Dodgers just had against the Yankees,
04:13how they may respond against the Mets.
04:16That was kind of their pinnacle of the season, winning two out of three.
04:19So, I give the Mets a good shot this week.
04:21So, a lot of people, I thought as well, that Arizona was going to be tougher than they are.
04:27They're kind of falling apart.
04:30I saw the Pirates beat them up for 19 runs in two days.
04:34I saw Gallen get lit up.
04:37I mean, this is a problem, right?
04:40Like, this team was kind of loaded with pitchers and now burns his elbow.
04:45Is he not – did he not just say Saturday he blew his elbow out?
04:50It sounds like it.
04:51That could be something that they're not going to be able to overcome.
04:55I know they signed Eduardo Rodriguez a couple of years ago.
04:58He's been in and out, on and off the injured list.
05:00He'll come back, obviously.
05:02And, you know, they haven't had burns in the past, and they still did well.
05:06To me, that was one of the teams that I looked at and said that they underachieved through the first couple of months.
05:10And I still do like their team, and I like their organization.
05:13But losing burns, if this is a season-long thing, and I'm not sure that it is.
05:17Obviously, it's hard to speculate with the arm and stuff like that.
05:20But I don't – there's no replacing that guy.
05:22Just ask the Orioles, right?
05:23So, yeah, it remains to be seen if Arizona can get it done.
05:27I still think that, to me, the Diamondbacks are better than the Giants.
05:31I just don't know if they're better than the Padres.
05:33That would be the team that they'll have to fight back and forth with.
05:37What do you think of Bubik and what Scoobal were used to?
05:43And Scoobal is getting better than ever.
05:45I saw Greg Maddox talking about him in an article about how he's just getting better and better
05:50and learning that it's not just one Cy Young.
05:53He might win more of them.
05:54And what do you think of this kid Bubik in Kansas City?
05:57He's been great, too.
05:58Royal Staff is really good.
05:59They get Caglione up now, and that's the big story of baseball today.
06:02How good can he be?
06:04The Royals did not wait any longer.
06:06June 1st, they called him up.
06:0712-1 to win the Rookie of the Year, Scott, without playing a game in the first two months?
06:11Are you kidding me?
06:13Right?
06:14So, he was fantastic in AAA, right?
06:17Like, his numbers are staggering.
06:20Let me repeat myself.
06:21He has not played a game.
06:23We're two months into the season, and FanDuel makes him 12-1 this morning because he's gotten called up.
06:28Help me understand this.
06:29He has the second-shortest odds to win the Rookie of the Year of the American League.
06:33Jacob Wilson of the A's has played two months.
06:35He's hitting .320.
06:36I mean, it just tells you how the book's got to protect themselves, I guess.
06:40But, I mean, can a guy come up in June and win Rookie of the Year?
06:44I mean, you've got to be kidding me.
06:47Stenga's got a nice ERA as well.
06:49I like watching him pitch.
06:51And Cam and Arrow, the guy the other night, how about that guy?
06:54Four for five, two home runs, 12 total bases.
06:57I mean, the guy's freaking out.
06:59Craig, congrats on the gig.
07:00I know you're doing great, calling Marlon's game.
07:03Now you're doing stand-up comedy.
07:05It's incredible.
07:06I hear that you're a quitter in the fantasy leagues.
07:08You gave up that because you're making so much money doing all this other stuff.
07:11Newswire's number one.
07:13Congratulations on all of it.
07:14I won't tell anyone I know that you're a quitter.
07:16I won't tell anyone I know that you're a quitter.
