With twelve television series and counting, “Star Trek” is showing no signs of slowing down. While we here at CinemaBlend obviously love “Trek,” there is one notoriously finicky component of these shows, and that’s the ending. Ending Trek is hard, and aside from “The Next Generation,” it often fails to stick the landing, and our own Trexpert Dirk Libbey has a hot take after a recent rewatch: "Deep Space Nine's" finale has two major problems.

First off, the obvious. Sisko’s ending saw him believed to be dead, but we find out via a vision from his wife that he has been saved by the Prophets, and he will return home when he has learned what he needs from them. Apparently the original plan was to have Sisko stay with the Prophets forever, but actor Avery Brooks didn’t like the look of a black man leaving his pregnant wife and family.
