00:00Once you've experienced a native plant in its native habitat, you're ready to
00:06plant it in your yard because you've seen how big they can get and how much
00:11sun it needs.
00:14You were one of the only nurseries that we found where we could locate this
00:19incredibly rare plant, this Ornithostaphylus, the Baja birdbush.
00:23Yeah, they're right there on top of the shelf.
00:25On this shelf here?
00:27So these just put them in full sun, full hot sun.
00:34We're here to hunt this down, you know?
00:36It's like trying to find good acid in Des Moines.
00:39Bees for reproduction and the birds for spreading in migration, basically.
00:43For dispersal, yeah.
00:44Dispersal.
00:45They eat the seeds and them out somewhere.
00:47I think Lisa and Patrick are really going to appreciate these.
00:50Yeah, they'll be into it.

01:02You guys keeping this area clear for anything or what?
01:05Yeah.
01:06Trying to keep this clear?
01:07Yeah, we're going to put Carex over in this section.
01:11You know what, are you willing to put Carex here?
01:13Did he want Carex or something, or really?
01:17Carex Californica is a perennial grass-like herb, and though native, Joey isn't pleased
01:22because Carex is wind-pollinated and doesn't support pollinating insects, birds, and bats.
01:27It's also kind of boring to look at, to be honest.
01:30You know what, is it good for the actualاء and there's a whole thing in the dark space of the forest?
01:35No.
