00:00The state government's next budget will include more than $270 million towards domestic,
00:08family and sexual violence services and funding five-year contracts with providers.
00:14The government says more than $220 million has also been allocated for victim-survivor
00:20support which will include new courtrooms, new solicitors and corrections staff.
00:26A new victim-survivor support hub has also been announced with just under $50 million pledged towards it.
00:33The hub will also help victim-survivors and witnesses provide evidence in court via remote
00:38video link without needing to come face-to-face with their alleged attackers.
00:43It's expected to be operational by late 2027.
00:47Premier Chris Min says victims do not feel safe coming forward in New South Wales.
00:52I think it would be virtually unimpeachable that the justice system and our court system
01:00can be incredibly, incredibly intimidating for vulnerable people in difficult circumstances,
01:06perhaps the most difficult circumstance of their life.
01:09The organisation DV New South Wales says the package will not address current waiting times
01:14for support and that some victim-survivors are waiting up to two months.
01:19The package forms part of this year's state budget, the rest of which will be delivered later this month.
