00:00Your mom in the back there, her name is Jen. Sister Jen, hello. Welcome. And let's give her a hand as well. Why not?
00:10Alright, how young are you both? You're 9 and 10. Okay, well, 9 and 10. So, perfect timing. We have our Sunday school today.
00:20And your teacher today will be Teacher Lizette. Teacher Lizette, wave your hand. That's my wife. And the mom also of this is Kenzie.
00:28Let's actually go and introduce yourselves. I'll come to you guys last. There's a reason for that.
00:33What is your name and how old you are? My name is Genesis and I'm 13 years old.
00:39Genesis and she's 13. This is Sam and she's 10. Carl is 9. Okay, very good. Let's pass the mic.
00:48Let's go with still the birthday girl, huh? Right? I mean, might as well because...
00:58Today is her actual celebration since she wasn't with us during Mother's Day, the actual Mother's Day.
01:03What is your name, young lady? Olive. Olive. And how old are you officially?
01:08Four. Four. Olive is four, yes.
01:12Good. Tell them your name and how old you are.
01:15Allie and I'm 8 years old.
01:18But this coming Tuesday she's going to be?
01:229 years old. 9 years old, yes.
01:24And you are? 8.
01:27What's your name?
01:28I am Kenzie.
01:29You're Kenzie and you are 8.
01:31You are?
01:3210 and I'm 11.
01:34Kylie is 11.
01:35Katie and I'm also 11.
01:36Also 11.
01:37Birthdays coming up later this month.
01:40And you are?
01:41Addie and I'm 8.
01:43Addie and you're 8.
01:44But also on Tuesday, how old will you be on Tuesday?
01:469.
01:479 years old.
01:48So why don't we sing the birthday song for Allie and Addie?
01:52Happy birthday to you.
01:55Happy birthday to you.
01:59Happy birthday dear Addie and Allie.
02:04Happy birthday to you.
02:09Happy birthday Addie and Allie this coming Tuesday.
02:13I cannot believe we're going to be 9 years old this week.
02:16And Olive also happy.
02:18Fourth birthday.
02:19She's going to say she's 5 now I guess?
02:21Maybe, maybe not.
02:22But alright.
02:23All jokes aside.
02:24I have something.
02:26I have an illustration that I know that dads here will resonate with real quick.
02:31Addie and behold this.
02:33But before that, yeah, you guessed it.
02:35Your uncle Davey is a huge fan of the game of basketball.
02:39And I'm sorry, all due respect to anybody from the state of Oklahoma, but in our household,
02:45we are only allowed to root for one team this coming week, the Indiana Pacers.
02:51Now you notice something about these jerseys.
02:54There's a front, right?
02:56And there's also a back.
02:59They're one and the same.
03:01Like, you can't just have the front.
03:04You can't just have the back.
03:05That would be kind of weird to try to wear a jersey with just the front or just the back.
03:10But more importantly, with a coin, Addie, what kind of coin is this?
03:17That's a quarter.
03:19You know who the president is on there?
03:22George Washington.
03:23You have the George Washington head on a quarter.
03:28What do you call the side that has his face?
03:32Head.
03:32That's heads.
03:33And the other?
03:34Tails.
03:35Heads or tails.
03:36Yes.
03:37Now, if I were to ask you to try to split this so that it's just heads, can you possibly,
03:45can you try to split it?
03:47Is it possible to split it so that it's just heads?
03:50No, right?
03:51Or how about Katie?
03:53Can you split so that it's just tails, right?
03:56No, you can't.
03:56It's not a magic coin or anything.
03:58This is a real quarter that you can put in like a meter or whatever.
04:02My point is this, is that we have a verse.
04:05It did not show up here, but you'll be able to see it there.
04:08Let's read together.
04:09I know you can't see it right now.
04:11For those of you that are here, you can turn around and see it there.
04:13But let's read together.
04:14What this is telling us is that mercy is one side of the coin, and also grace is the other side of the coin.
04:40You cannot have one without, whoops, the other.
04:46That almost fell in there.
04:47You cannot have the heads without the tails, and you also cannot have grace without the mercy.
04:55Very quickly, grace is when God gives you something you don't deserve,
05:00and mercy is when God does not give you what you actually deserve.
05:05And all in all, it's a part of the beautiful coin, if you may, the two sides of the coin of God's love,
05:13His mercy, His grace, and His kindness to all of us.
05:17Now, as I mentioned, we will be excusing you in just a moment to go to your Sunday school with Teacher Lizette.
05:27But before that, as we always do, let's pray, and you'll have to hold the mic.
05:31Let's fold our hands, bow our heads, and close our eyes.
05:35Repeat after me.
05:36Father God, thank you for your mercy, for your grace,
05:43and of course, above all, for your love, for all who believe in your Son, Jesus Christ.
05:57In His name we pray. Amen.
