00:00Would Spex O'Keefe really risk his life by testifying against his former comrades in crime?
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most insane and notorious acts of revenge throughout history.
00:13It's not revenge he's after. It's a reckoning.
00:19Number 30, Peter the Great, the husband who made an example.
00:23So long as I'm your king, treason shall never go unpunished.
00:30Sir Illyn, bring me his head.
00:33Peter I, or Peter the Great as he's more famously known, served as Tsar and Emperor of Russia in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
00:42He was also a very jealous man.
00:45Peter discovered that his wife, Catherine I, was having an affair with her secretary, Willem Mons.
00:50So in 1724, Peter had Mons arrested on charges of bribery and abuse of office.
00:56He was tried, found guilty, and beheaded.
00:58But there's one more grisly detail.
01:01Peter reportedly had Mons' head preserved in alcohol and displayed in a jar as a warning, at one time even proudly showing it to Catherine.
01:09Granted, the pickled head story is not definitively proven, but many historians believe it likely, due to Peter's documented interest in anatomy and harsh punishments.
01:20Look at it and see what happens to traitors.
01:22He promised to be merciful.
01:23Number 29.
01:25Poulin Devi, the Bandit Queen
01:27Young Poulin Devi was a victim of the Indian caste system, often forced to endure sexual violence and class oppression.
01:33This resulted in the highly controversial Behamay Massacre of 1981.
01:38Poulin had endured horrific abuse by the upper caste Takur men in the village of Behamay.
01:43Devi then took direct action against the men and structures that had brutalized her, raiding the village with a gang and murdering 20 Takur men in an execution-style shooting.
01:52The Indian government was deeply embarrassed by the violence, and triggered one of the largest manhunts in the country's history.
01:58Devi was imprisoned for 11 years, but she soon became a local folk hero, and later, a member of the Indian parliament.
02:06Number 28.
02:07Reinhard Heydrich, the Man with the Iron Heart
02:09Murder Heydrich.
02:11No, no.
02:12Assassinate Heydrich.
02:14Murder implies he has a life worth living.
02:16Considered one of the most depraved Nazi officials, Reinhard Heydrich was dubbed the Man with the Iron Heart and was the principal organizer of the infamous Final Solution.
02:26He also served as governor of the Czech territories, crushing resistance through mass arrests and executions.
02:32But in late 1941, the Czechoslovak government in exile and special British forces decided to assassinate Heydrich to boost Czech morale and show that collaboration with the Nazis would not go unpunished.
02:43They planned Operation Arthropoid, and on May 27th, 1942, two paratroopers ambushed Heydrich's open-top car in Prague.
02:52One threw a grenade that exploded near the vehicle, fatally wounding Heydrich.
02:56He died of complications one week later.
02:58The point of the mission is to succeed, yes?
03:02I'm more worried that we haven't planned what to do if we are successful.
03:04What happens afterwards is not important.
03:06Number 27.
03:07The Great Brinks Robbery.
03:09Spex Gets Even.
03:10For three long weeks, Joseph Spex O'Keefe was on the witness stand, telling all he knew about the robbery.
03:16On January 17th, 1950, a gang pulled off the biggest heist in U.S. history at the time, stealing $2.7 million from the Brinks Armored Car Depot in Boston.
03:27The robbery was virtually flawless, leaving the FBI with few leads.
03:31But tensions soon grew within the gang, especially with member Joseph Spex O'Keefe, who wasn't receiving his share of the loot.
03:38So, O'Keefe kidnapped a fellow gang member and demanded his cut as ransom.
03:42After it was paid, the gang sent a hitman to kill him.
03:45He survived the shooting, and fed up with the drama, decided to cooperate with the FBI.
03:51His testimony led to numerous arrests, just five days before the statute of limitations was set to expire.
03:57Their lawyers did their best to discredit the testimony of a Judas, which they characterized as self-serving and untrustworthy.
04:04But it was a hollow defense, and nothing was said to persuade the jury that they had not heard an accurate account of the famous robbery.
04:11Number 26.
04:12Hugh Glass.
04:13The Man Who Survived a Grizzly Bear.
04:15He's afraid.
04:18He knows how far I came for him.
04:22Same as that elk.
04:23When they get afraid, they run deep into the woods.
04:27I got him trapped.
04:28He just, he doesn't know it yet.
04:31The story of Hugh Glass, while possibly embellished, shows the resiliency of the human spirit.
04:37And yes, the motivating factor of revenge.
04:39Glass was mauled by a grizzly bear while on a fur trading expedition,
04:43and was both robbed and left behind by his companions.
04:46He then crawled and limped hundreds of miles back to Fort Kiowa to seek revenge against the men who had abandoned him.
04:52He spared the younger of the two, finding him too youthful and childlike to kill.
04:56He also located John Fitzgerald.
04:58But because he was now a soldier, killing him would have been a hangable offense.
05:03However, he took his rifle back from Fitzgerald, demanded $300 in compensation,
05:08and vowed to kill Fitzgerald if he ever left the army.
05:11You came all this way just for your revenge, huh?
05:17Will you enjoy it, class?
05:19Number 25.
05:21Operation Wrath of God.
05:22The government that hunted terrorists.
05:24We have 11 Palestinian names.
05:26Each had a hand in planning in Munich.
05:28You're going to kill 11 men, one by one.
05:31In 1972, 11 Israelis were killed by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September during the Munich Olympics.
05:38This event shocked the world and would famously become known as the Munich Massacre.
05:42So, the Israeli government launched a covert operation to assassinate those responsible and take their revenge.
05:48It was called Operation Wrath of God.
05:50This attack was personally approved by Prime Minister Golda Meir and was overseen by Mossad,
05:55the National Intelligence Agency of Israel.
05:58Their agents then scoured the world and assassinated a number of key targets throughout the course of many years.
06:04You killed them for the sake of a country you now choose to abandon.
06:08The country your mother and father built, that you were born into.
06:12You killed them for Munich, for the future, for peace.
06:15Number 24.
06:16Wyatt Earp.
06:17The lawman who formed a posse.
06:19Well, let's hope he's got another miracle up his sleeve.
06:22Because if I know Ringo, he's headed straight for us.
06:27If they were my brothers, I'd want revenge to him.
06:30Wyatt Earp is one of the most famous figures of the American frontier.
06:33Immortalized in classic works of film and literature.
06:36One of the key aspects of his story is the famous Vendetta Ride, which occurred through March and April of 1882.
06:42Violence was escalating between the Earp brothers and the outlaw Cochise County Cowboys in and around Tombstone, Arizona.
06:49Following the gunfight at the OK Corral, Virgil and Morgan Earp were ambushed by the cowboys, resulting in the latter's death.
06:55Wyatt then formed a posse to exact revenge and rode out to personally murder three cowboys he believed were responsible for the attacks.
07:02The Vendetta Ride cemented Wyatt's reputation as a fearless lawman and a mythical figure of the Old West.
07:08You're no daisy.
07:10You're no daisy at all.
07:11Number 23.
07:13Vlad the Impaler.
07:14The Man Who Battled an Empire.
07:16Brand Castle.
07:18Billed as the last standing relic of a man some call Dracula.
07:23You probably know Vlad the Impaler as the man who inspired Dracula.
07:26But his story is fascinating in and of itself.
07:29Vlad lived during a violent time of political instability, and two key events shaped his path of revenge.
07:36He was taken hostage and mistreated by the Ottomans, and Wallachian nobles killed his father and brother.
07:41After reclaiming the throne in 1456, Vlad took revenge on the Wallachian nobility by impaling a number of elders and forcing others into servitude.
07:51He also launched a guerrilla war against the Ottoman Empire, and utilized terrifying psychological tactics,
07:57like publicly mounting thousands of Turkish corpses in the horrifically named Forest of the Impaled.
08:02It's no wonder he took on such a fearful reputation.
08:05And he promised that he will return.
08:07That was his curse, and I will take revenge against those that they betrayed me.
08:11Number 22.
08:13Svein Forkbeard.
08:14The Viking Who Invaded a Country.
08:16There's nothing I despise more than a traitor.
08:20In 1002, King Athelred of England had grown frustrated by the growing Danish presence in his country,
08:25so he ordered a mass killing of Danes living in England.
08:29This is known as the St. Bryce's Day Massacre.
08:32Said to be among the dead were the sister and brother-in-law of Svein Forkbeard, the King of Denmark.
08:37The massacre of his people and family incensed Forkbeard, and he launched a series of devastating invasions over the next decade.
08:44His raids were brutally savage, and he was successful in conquering England,
08:48forcing King Athelred into exile, and taking his role as king.
08:52His brief reign marked the first time that a Viking king ruled the entirety of England.
08:57Now that's revenge.
08:58If anything should happen to Svein,
09:02Do I have your word?
09:13Number 21.
09:14Gary Plowshae, the man who shot his son's abuser.
09:17I didn't know that Gary was standing there.
09:20I didn't recognize him.
09:21I was looking behind the TV lights to see if who else was there.
09:26In February of 1984, Gary Plowshae's son Jody was kidnapped by his karate instructor, Jeffrey Doucette,
09:33and taken to a motel in California, where he was subject to mistreatment.
09:37The ordeal ended when Doucette allowed Jody to call his mother, leading to a police raid and Doucette's arrest.
09:42Not long after, Doucette was escorted through Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport by law enforcement.
09:47Unbeknownst to everyone, Gary Plowshae was waiting near a bank of payphones.
09:51As Doucette walked past Plowshae, he turned and shot Doucette in the head,
09:55in full view of law enforcement and a local news crew.
09:59Amazingly, Plowshae never served time in prison,
10:02instead receiving a suspended sentence, five years of probation, and 300 hours of community service.
10:08Did you learn anything from this?
10:11Just how much I love my children.
10:13Number 20.
10:14Marvin Heemeyer, the Killdozer creator.
10:16This is a bad situation, guys.
10:18We might need one, too.
10:19For years, Heemeyer had clashed with people in Granby, Colorado,
10:23including neighbors, town officials, and the press.
10:26After one last injustice, he sold off his property and spent 18 months turning his bulldozer into a weapon.
10:32Heemeyer reinforced it with concrete and steel, fitted video cameras and slots for firearms,
10:37and filled the interior with supplies.
10:40In 2004, Heemeyer drove the vehicle, known as the Killdozer, through Granby,
10:45destroying properties belonging to those who wronged him.
10:48He was upset that a batch plant was built next to his muffler shop.
10:53But no one expected this.
10:55This included the town hall, the concrete plant, and the home of the former mayor.
11:00No one perished from the rampage, but it's believed Heemeyer caused around $7 million in damage.
11:05After the bulldozer got stuck in debris and was badly damaged, Heemeyer took his own life.
11:10Did he actually say he was going to take a bulldozer and armor it?
11:15Well, he didn't say he was going to armor it.
11:17He said, I'm going to take a bulldozer and just, and to the town.
11:21Number 19, Olga of Kiev, the saint who destroyed a tribe.
11:25In 945, Igor, the prince of Kiev, confronted the Drevlyan tribe after they stopped paying him a tribute.
11:32After getting money and leaving, Igor went back to get more, only to be murdered by them.
11:36Igor's wife, Olga, then took over the regency of Kievan Rus.
11:46The Drevlyans sent multiple parties of ambassadors to take advantage of the chaos.
11:51Instead, each group was lured in by Olga before being slain.
11:54She then went to Igor's tomb in Drevlyan's territory to hold a funeral.
11:58While the tribe paid their respects, Olga had thousands of them killed.
12:06Over the course of a year, her army wiped out the remaining Drevlyans and set their settlements ablaze.
12:15Olga later converted to Christianity and was canonized as a saint.
12:20Number 18, Julius Caesar, from hostage to tormentor.
12:24Certainly in relation to the commanders of the ancient world, a great thing really is to plan the overall strategy,
12:33to get the army to the place it should be, to choose the battlefield.
12:37Before he became the ruler of the Roman Empire, Julius Caesar traveled from Rome, Italy to Rhodes, Greece to study oratory.
12:44However, pirates attacked and took the 25-year-old for ransom.
12:47But when Caesar heard how much they were asking for him, he laughed.
12:51Not because it was an impossible figure, but for being far too low.
12:55Your time is up, Roman.
12:59I'll fight one of you for another day.
13:01Instead, Caesar told them to substantially increase it due to his status.
13:05For his 38 days there, he threatened the pirates that he would crucify them.
13:09Yet none believed him.
13:11After his release, Caesar gathered an army and a fleet.
13:14They found the pirates at the island they had held him at and arrested them.
13:18Caesar followed through on his promise by executing them all.
13:21Rome is waiting, Caesar.
13:23You are triumphant.
13:25Cornelia's waiting.
13:28That's for Rome.
13:29Number 17, Ken McElroy, the vengeance of Skidmore.
13:33If they kept somebody, and he's tried, and he's found guilty, would you feel that justice has been done?
13:40No.
13:41For decades, Ken McElroy terrorized the town of Skidmore, Missouri.
13:45He was accused of committing many crimes, including thieving livestock, arson, animal cruelty, and burglary.
13:52McElroy also assaulted an underage girl, who he later married after a reign of terror against her family, including slaying their dog.
14:00Do I believe that there was bad things that Dad did?
14:02Yes.
14:03He wasn't a perfect man by far.
14:05In 1981, after appealing his conviction for the attempted murder of the local shopkeeper, Ernest Bowenkamp, McElroy went on a rampage of harassment against Bowenkamp's supporters.
14:16The town was done with him.
14:18As McElroy sat with his wife in his truck, he was fatally shot multiple times.
14:22While there were dozens of witnesses to the slaying, no one said anything.
14:26To this day, the perpetrator has never been identified.
14:30Ironically, it was this shooting back here that led to the final shooting right here at the bar, a matter of 50 feet away.
14:38Number 16.
14:39Alan Ralski.
14:40The Poetic Spam Revenge.
14:42Email will always surpass everything you've ever seen or heard about media.
14:48Any kind of media, email is still king.
14:50No one likes junk mail, whether email or postal.
14:54Sure, for every coupon book you might want, there are numerous advertisements for products you'll never use.
14:59One of the biggest scourges of sending this was Alan Ralski.
15:03In his spamming prime, he was reportedly sending 1 billion emails a day.
15:08But in 2002, Ralski had an interview with the Detroit News.
15:11The article was then shared online, along with the address for his new property.
15:16People then added Ralski to every mailing list they could find, flooding his home with junk mail and giving him a taste of his own medicine.
15:23Okay, I hadn't even made some kind of a dent by now.
15:29Oh, come on!
15:31In 2009, Ralski was sentenced to jail for four years for various felonies, including fraud, spamming, and money laundering.
15:39Number 15.
15:40Jeanne de Clisson.
15:41Taking to the Seas Against the French.
15:43Gentlemen.
15:46Who is the colors?
15:49How there hasn't been a blockbuster biopic on her life, we'll never understand.
15:53Jeanne was a Breton-French noblewoman who was married to Olivier IV de Clisson.
15:58In 1343, Olivier was executed by King Philip VI of France for apparent treason.
16:03After showing their sons their father's head on display, Jeanne sold the family estates and began her plan of piracy.
16:09She gathered ships, with the main one called My Revenge, and started attacking French vessels and aiding the English.
16:17Jeanne's feats earned her the nickname the Lioness of Brittany.
16:20Eventually, the French sank My Revenge, causing Jeanne and her sons to be adrift for days.
16:24But she continued pirating for years more.
16:28Number 14.
16:29Udham Singh.
16:30The Retaliator of a Massacre.
16:32In 1919, the Jaliyavallabag Massacre took place in India, with British soldiers firing on protesters, taking the lives of up to 1,500 and injuring as many as 1,200.
16:43They've had their warning.
16:46No meetings.
16:50Singh was a revolutionary who fought for India's independence from British colonialism.
16:54While in London, England, he planned his revenge against Michael O'Dwyer, who was the lieutenant governor of the Punjab during the terrible event.
17:01In 1940, O'Dwyer, who had ties to pro-Nazi groups, was speaking at Caxton Hall.
17:07Singh walked in with a firearm concealed in a book.
17:10You look at your face.
17:11Mr. Doyle.
17:13He approached O'Dwyer and shot him, ending his life and injuring several others.
17:23Singh was arrested, yet was defiant during the court case for his beliefs.
17:27He was found guilty and executed.
17:34Number 13.
17:35Genghis Khan.
17:36Obliterating an Empire from History.
17:38With his wife rescued, it was now that Genghis first emerged.
17:43As the brutal mass murderer of history.
17:45In 1218, Genghis looked to trade with the neighboring Khwarezmian Empire and sent an envoy of several hundred merchants.
17:52However, the governor of Otrar, Inalchuk, who was related to the Khwarezmian ruler Muhammad II, arrested the caravan for treason and executed them.
18:01This was to be the complete destruction of an entire tribe.
18:06Aiming to avoid a war and get revenge against Inalchuk, Genghis sent ambassadors to Muhammad II.
18:12One was executed by the ruler, while the others were shaved and sent back to Genghis.
18:16With that, the Mongol ruler was livid.
18:19Genghis took most of his army and decimated the Khwarezmian Empire, assassinating Inalchuk along the way.
18:25The Mongols destroyed Khwarezmian cities and took the lives of millions of people as they wiped an empire from history.
18:31The Dachau Liberation Reprisals
18:42Number 12, the Dachau Liberation Reprisals
18:46In 1945, the U.S. soldiers approaching the infamous Dachau concentration camp had no idea of the horror they would witness.
19:03In the weeks leading to the liberation, prisoners were shipped to Dachau as they started hiding the evidence of what had happened.
19:09As the U.S. fought the SS soldiers to surrender, they discovered thousands of bodies in piles, some shoved into trained boxcars, and the extremely malnourished and abused survivors.
19:20The smell was horrible.
19:22We thought, golly, what is this?
19:24You know, somebody suggested that the Germans were using some kind of poisonous gas.
19:29Many of the U.S. soldiers couldn't wrap their heads around the atrocities and were filled with unbridled rage.
19:34The exact details of what went down are hazy.
19:37However, it's believed the U.S. soldiers and some of the prisoners took the lives of between 35 and 50 SS guards.
19:45Number 11, the 47 Ronin, avenging their master's memory
19:49He wants Kira dead, and his vision depends on organization and stealth.
19:56One of Japan's most famous legends, the tale of the 47 Ronin is actually rooted in reality.
20:01After their master, Asano Naganori, was forced to commit seppuku in 1701 by the ruthless Kira Yoshinaka,
20:08the former samurai spent over a year biding their time until Kira's forces believed they were not a threat.
20:14Then, they struck.
20:16In 1703, the Ronin attacked Kira's residence, fighting many of his retainers.
20:21I take a vow before you, but I will not rest until justice is done.
20:28Eventually, they located Kira and offered to let him commit seppuku.
20:32However, he couldn't do it.
20:34So, their leader, Oishi Yoshio, did it for him and took Kira's head to Asano's grave.
20:39Each Ronin was sentenced to death for their revenge, but was given the choice to commit seppuku, which they all took.
20:46They weren't corrupted by court life, and they were probably really rough country men who just would not take that sort of treatment and insult.
20:56Number 10, Pierre Picot, The Real Count of Monte Cristo.
21:00Just as God has freed it from my heart.
21:04And what has replaced it?
21:08Our revenge.
21:09The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the greatest revenge stories in literary history.
21:13And though it is a work of fiction, the main character, Edmond Dantes, is said to be based on a real man named Pierre Picot.
21:20A 19th century shoemaker from southern France, Picot was falsely accused of being an English spy by his alleged friends.
21:27Following years of forced servitude, Picot was released and, after some careful plotting, murdered the three men who had betrayed him.
21:34He was particularly ruthless in dealing with Lupien, the man who had married his former fiancé.
21:39Picot tricked the man's children into lives of crime, before finally stabbing their father to death.
21:44How did you ever call yourself my friend?
21:47We were friends, Edmond.
21:50Number 9, Alexander Alec Turner, The Ex-Slave Who Got Even.
21:55Reminiscent of a real-life version of Django, Alec Turner was born into slavery on a Virginia tobacco plantation in 1845.
22:02At a young age, he was taught to read and write in secret by the plantation owner's granddaughter.
22:06They were eventually caught, however, and Turner was badly beaten and whipped.
22:11Eventually able to escape at the start of the Civil War, Turner joined the Union Army.
22:15In 1863, Turner returned to his old plantation with his regiment and personally shot and killed his former overseer.
22:22Now, all you black folks, I suggest you get away from all these white folks.
22:29Not you, Stephen.
22:30He survived the war, eventually settling on a farm in Vermont, appropriately named Journey's End.
22:36He's the guy who's the talk of the town, with the restless guard.
22:44Number 8, Nakam, The Jewish Avengers.
22:48Understandably, many people were dissatisfied with the result of the Nuremberg Trials, where only 24 individuals were indicted.
22:54And so a group formed named Nakam, shortened from Dam Yehudi Nakam, or Jewish Blood Will Be Avenged, with the goal of seeking their own form of justice.
23:04The group poisoned 3,000 loaves of bread that were being sent to an American POW camp, intended for former SS members.
23:11I don't know how many, but what I know is that the American army has mobilized all the ambulances, and they had thousands.
23:21Over 2,000 prisoners were reportedly made ill.
23:25But, to the retroactive disappointment of former Nakam member Yosef Karmatz, there were no confirmed fatalities.
23:31According to some members, however, the group had originally desired to kill 6 million Germans by poisoning the water supplies of the country's main cities.
23:40To kill 6 million Germans, that's even insane to say that.
23:45Which 6 million? Where? How?
23:48Number 7, Frank Eaton, The Man Who Avenged His Pa.
23:52Born in the mid-19th century in Connecticut, Frank Eaton moved to Kansas with his family when he was 8 years old.
23:57Around this time, his vigilante father was killed by six ex-Confederate soldiers.
24:02A family friend told Eaton, quote,
24:05My boy, may an old man's curse rest upon you if you do not try to avenge your father.
24:10Frank began training, quickly earned the nickname Pistol Pete, and was said to be faster on the draw than Buffalo Bill.
24:16As the story goes, he managed to seek out and kill five of the murderers before he turned 30,
24:21with the last, John Ferber, escaping Eaton's wrath only by dying before Eaton could get to him.
24:27Number 6, Aaron Burr, The Vice President Who'd Had Enough
24:31We've heard of political rivalries before, but nothing quite like this.
24:36Both Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr were big players on the political stage at the turn of the 19th century.
24:41Burr had gone up against Thomas Jefferson for the presidential nomination, but lost, thanks in part to Hamilton's influence.
24:47The choice between Jefferson and Burr fell to the House of Representatives, controlled by Hamilton's party called Federalists.
24:57Now, Aaron Burr had to make a very hard decision.
25:02A few years later, Burr ran for governor of New York, only to once again see his ambitions dashed by the counter-efforts of Hamilton,
25:09who campaigned aggressively against him.
25:11Fed up, Burr, who was still vice president at the time, challenged Hamilton to a duel.
25:16The pair met in Weehawken, New Jersey, and Hamilton was mortally wounded.
25:20He aims his pistol at the sky!
25:22Whee!
25:24Number 5, Buford Pusser, The Sheriff Who Walked Tall.
25:28Yes, I was beaten and robbed on the Mississippi and Tennessee state line,
25:31and of course, the local law enforcement wasn't doing anything about it,
25:35and that's when I decided to run for a sheriff on the day.
25:37During his time as sheriff of McNary County, Buford Pusser waged a one-man war on crime,
25:43focusing primarily on the state line mob, which operated along the border of Mississippi and Tennessee.
25:48Naturally, this did not sit well with the gang,
25:51who severely wounded Pusser and murdered his wife in a drive-by assassination attempt.
25:55Pusser's ensuing quest for revenge inspired a trilogy of films in the 70s and a 2004 remake starring Dwayne Johnson.
26:02I grew up in this town. People used to walk tall in this town.
26:08They wouldn't have traded the mill for a cook at a casino.
26:10Though the exact details are largely obscured in mystery and rumor,
26:14various authors and local law enforcement have suggested that Pusser had a hand in the killing
26:18of three of the four men he accused of being behind his wife's death.
26:22People need or are looking for maybe a hero type, somebody that stood up for the underdog.
26:28Number 4. Carl V. Erickson, the retiree who really held a grudge.
26:34High school can be a difficult time, particularly if you aren't considered one of the so-called popular kids.
26:40Carl Erickson experienced this firsthand when he was the victim of a cruel prank.
26:44While the exact details of the incident are unclear,
26:47it did involve a jockstrap being placed on Erickson's head in front of a group of students.
26:51Erickson blamed Norman Johnson for the prank,
26:53and took the idea that revenge is a dish best served cold a little too far.
26:58He waited over 50 years to get even, confronting Johnson and killing him in his home in 2012.
27:05Both men were in their 70s, and Erickson was given a life sentence for his crime.
27:10Number 3. Jared Harris, the avenging amateur tattoo artist.
27:14Prison is a rough place in general, but for those who've been convicted of crimes against children,
27:19it is living hell.
27:21Back in 2006, Anthony R. Stockleman was sentenced to life in prison
27:24after assaulting and murdering the young Katie Coleman.
27:27To the ignorance of officials, Stockleman was placed in the very same prison
27:31as Katie's older cousin, Jared Harris, who was serving time for burglary.
27:35From what investigators could put together,
27:37it seems that Harris cornered Stockleman, and with the help of other inmates,
27:41tattooed the words found on the inmates' forehead the next morning.
27:44The script in question? Katie's revenge.
27:47Number 2. Lorena Bobbitt, the knife-wielding wife who refused to be the victim anymore.
27:52I would wake up shaking and scared, and I would have nightmares.
27:57We've heard of volatile marriages before, but this case caught the attention of the international community.
28:03According to Lorena Bobbitt, she'd suffered various forms of abuse at the hands of her husband for years,
28:08and on the night that she finally snapped, he had forced himself on her.
28:11That was June 23, 1993.
28:13A date ex-husband John Wayne Bobbitt is unlikely to ever forget.
28:19My mind went blank.
28:21I could barely walk, could barely breathe.
28:25While her husband slept, Lorena took a knife from the kitchen and cut off his appendage,
28:29drove several miles, and threw it into a field.
28:32It was eventually found after an extensive search,
28:35and reattached during an over nine-hour operation.
28:37It took a long time to actually, to get to where I am right now.
28:42It's really, psychologically.

29:02Number 1. Aku Yadov, the accused predator who met mob justice.
29:06For over a decade, Indian gangster Aku Yadov, real name Bharat Kalicharan,
29:11terrorized locals in a slum outside the city of Nagpur.
29:15He sexually assaulted over 40 women and killed at least three people.
29:19After a mob burned down his house,
29:21Yadov had the police, who were in his pocket, arrest him for his own protection.
29:26In response, hundreds of women stormed the courtroom where his bail hearing was being held
29:30and stabbed him to death.
29:32The women openly admitted responsibility.
29:34And while some were arrested, the police eventually backed down and released them.
