00:17ground up. And spoiler alert, it hasn't all been glamorous. In the latest episode of her podcast,

00:28has been anything but easy.
00:31Latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan Markle,
00:35talked about the difficulties of launching her lifestyle brand.
00:39In fact, she described the process as incredibly lonely.
00:43When you only have yourself to answer to, I think it's twofold, Meghan explained.
00:47It can be incredibly liberating, and it can be incredibly lonely.
00:52Meghan thought she'd be doing her business alone at first.
00:55Meghan said that when she first envisioned launching her lifestyle brand,
00:58as ever, she thought she'd be doing it completely on her own.
01:02Meghan Markle admits to incredibly lonely business lows after launching Slew of Ventures.
01:08I initially planned to launch the brand all by myself, she shared.
01:12I really thought I was going to build it solo.
01:15But things shifted.
01:16Meghan said she ended up doing a complete U-turn when she saw what Netflix's consumer packaged
01:21goods team was doing and decided to team up with them.
01:24I really believe in what they're building, she said.
01:28Meghan Markle keeps trying to make businesses work.
01:31This level of openness from Meghan feels new, but also really relatable for anyone who's
01:36ever tried to launch something on their own.
01:38Despite her public profile and massive platform, it turns out even someone like Meghan has moments
01:43of doubt and isolation when working behind the scenes.
01:46Her latest comments come after several past attempts at business ventures.
01:51Most notably, her podcast Archetypes, produced under Spotify, was cut short in 2022 after just one season.
01:58More recently, she's found a new home for her podcasting voice with Lemonada Media,
02:03where she's launched Confessions of a Female Founder.
02:06It's part of a larger comeback effort, along with her Netflix docuseries,
02:10With Love, Meghan, and of course, the debut of As Ever.
02:13Meghan officially launched as ever in April 2025, releasing a limited first line of products
02:19that sold out almost immediately.
02:22But while the launch may have looked polished from the outside,
02:25Meghan says there's been a steep learning curve behind the scenes.
02:29Meghan admits the original name for her brand was really bad.
02:33She's been open about the challenges of navigating things like branding and naming,
02:37especially after she had to scrap her original brand name,
02:40American Riviera Orchard, due to trademark issues.
02:44Speaking about the name change, Meghan drew a funny comparison.
02:48It's no different than if you have an idea of what you're gonna name that baby.
02:52You keep it so close to your heart until that baby is here and it's named.
02:55She joked,
02:56Don't ask anyone's opinion.
02:58It becomes like Survey Monkey at the beginning of a business.
03:00She previously described the first name as a word salad
03:04and said she appreciated the grace people gave her as she sorted everything out in real time.
03:11In her March 2025 cover story with People,
03:14Meghan reflected on the bumpy road that led to the current iteration of her brand.
03:19I was figuring it out in real time, she said.
03:22I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out
03:26and also to be forgiving with myself through that.
03:28Meghan talked about her role as a mentor and investor to other female entrepreneurs.
03:34She's been involved with companies like Highbrow Hippie,
03:37co-founded by Cotty Lee,
03:38and Cleaver Blends, co-founded by Hannah Mendoza.
03:43Supporting other women in business seems to be a big part of her mission.
03:47I'm really conscious about making it clear that I'm not in the business of trying to dilute you,
03:51she said.
03:51I'm in the business of trying to uplift you.
03:54She added that she wants to be the person other women in business can call
03:57when they're unsure or facing problems,
04:00whether it's about quality control or just needing a pep talk.
04:04They all have those moments, she said,
04:06and I want to be the person they feel like they can call when they do.
04:10That desire to support others might be part of what's helping Meghan push through
04:13the loneliness she admitted to.
04:16While she's been open about how tough the behind-the-scenes part of building a brand has been,
04:20she's also clearly passionate about what she's creating
04:23and the community she's building around it.
