Full video: How to stop taking things personally? || Acharya Prashant, with MMMUT (2023)
Transcript
00:00Something hurts you only when you exist to resist that thing, right?
00:04A stone thrown through air does not hurt the air, or does it?
00:08But it hurts the first thing that resists it.
00:11So when you see that your personhood is a myth, you become the air.
00:15You become the open sky.
00:17Then you cannot be hurt.
00:19You're not hurting me.
00:20I'm not who you are, who you think I am.
00:22You're throwing something at me.
00:24It passes through me.
00:25I can be hurt only if first of all I am the person you think I am.
00:29I'm not that.
00:31So when one stops taking herself seriously, it becomes very difficult for the world to hurt her.
00:40And remember, if someone can hurt you, they can also possess you.
00:44The one who is able to hurt you will also be able to control you.
00:48And you do not want to be controlled, right?
