00:00My main reason for getting sent back to
00:27prison was because I didn't have an address. Once the prison releases you to
00:32that shelter, you're good for that night. The next day, if you don't make the beds
00:35cut, then you don't have a place to go.
00:47You start with people not trusting you. You start with having to build up
00:54relationships that have been damaged since you've been gone, whether it be
00:58with your children, your family, your friends. You go into prison where you have
01:03no understanding and then you get put into a society that really they have no
01:07understanding either because they feel like you know you just came out of
01:10prison so you're either a killer or a molester or and that's that's not always
01:14the case. I suppose that means that there's not going to be violent
01:20offenders or sex offenders or crimes against children people and she said
01:29that we're not going to exclude those. People who have very serious criminal
01:33offenses are not going to get out. We're going to provide supportive services to
01:39women who have served their sentences, done their time, pay their due to society,
01:44you know, all that kind of stuff and they're ready to come home.
01:47I had to pay my first restitution payment a month after I got out and it was $125.
01:53If I didn't have this farm job, I wouldn't have had $125.
01:58You know, I was looking for a place to go to where I didn't have to go back to my
02:02old life and growing up on a farm, it just really appealed to me knowing that I
02:07could live and work on a farm and do something different.
02:12This is really like a nice home setting. I mean, like you have your own bedroom,
02:16like you have bathroom space, like I mean you can take a bath and they pretty much
02:21give you the freedom to run it as your own household.
02:24If it wasn't for Benamless Farm, I'd probably, you know, be dead now, you know,
02:27OD'd or, you know, I'd probably be incarcerated again.
02:37Best nine years.
