00:32In 2018, I imposed historic tariffs on foreign steel, and the results were amazing.

00:39You wouldn't have this plant right now if I didn't put on 25% and 50% tariffs.

00:45They were dumping steel, as you know, from China and from all over the world.

00:49They were dumping it all over our country, dumping it.

00:52And it was bad steel. It was garbage.

00:53But it was steel, and it was cheap as hell, and it was a terrible thing.

00:59And you wouldn't have had any steel mills.

01:02I don't think, Dave, they'd have a steel mill open in the country if we didn't do the tariffs.

01:06And it was just in time. It was just in time.

01:10They were closing up as fast as you can count.

01:13In a few short years, domestic steel production surged by more than 10 million tons.

01:18Imports from your foreign competitors dropped by 24% almost immediately.

01:24And more than $15 billion of investment poured into American steel throughout the United States,

01:31all because you had a president who stood up for our steel workers and put America first.
