There's a little known trick that many seamstresses use to thread a needle without making mistakes. And today, I'm going to show you exactly how it's done. After watching this, you'll probably never thread a needle the same way again, because I'll be sharing three incredibly simple techniques to make it quick and easy.
00:27As we get older, it's common for our vision to decline a bit, and that can make everyday tasks, like threading a needle, much more difficult. You might find yourself wondering, how can I even see the eye of the needle, let alone get the thread through it? If that sounds familiar, don't worry. These tips will make the process a whole lot easier.
00:49The first method is surprisingly simple. Take your thread and lay it across your palm. Then, pinch it gently between your thumb and forefinger. This helps to hold the thread steady.
01:00Now, take the needle and press its eye down against the thread while rubbing gently. The first time might feel a bit awkward, but once you get the hang of it, you'll see how effortlessly the thread slips into place. It almost seems like magic, but really, it's just friction doing the work.
01:20For the second trick, you're going to need an old toothbrush. Yes, really. Lay the thread across the bristles of the toothbrush, trying to keep it as straight as possible. This will make the next step easier.
01:42Now take your needle and press the eye down onto the thread, then gently pull. The bristles help guide the thread right into the needle's eye. It works best with medium to large needles, and it makes the whole process way less frustrating.
02:12A third method uses something you already have at home, a simple sheet of paper. Cut a small piece from the sheet.
02:42anything too soft, and fold it into a little square.
02:58Place the thread inside the fold, right in the center.
03:06Then, cut a small slit from the top to the bottom of the folded edge.
03:12Now, insert the tip of the paper into the needle's eye.
03:24As you gently pull the paper through, the thread will come along with it.
03:28Just tear the paper away once the thread is in.
03:31It's fast, easy, and works for needles of all sizes.
03:35So if your mom or grandma struggles with threading a needle, share these tricks with them.
03:40They're easy to learn and make a big difference.
