(askanews) - Il Segretario alla Difesa statunitense, Pete Hegseth, avverte che la Cina si sta "preparando in modo credibile a usare potenzialmente la forza militare per alterare l'equilibrio di potere nell'Indo-Pacifico". Il capo del Pentagono ha rilasciato queste dichiarazioni durante un forum annuale sulla sicurezza a Singapore, dove ha esortato gli alleati e i partner degli Stati Uniti in Asia ad aumentare la spesa per la difesa. "Gli alleati degli Stati Uniti nell'Indo-Pacifico possono e dovrebbero potenziare rapidamente le proprie difese", ha affermato allo Shangri-La Dialogue, aggiungendo che "la deterrenza non è a buon mercato".
