Doda, J&K, May 30, 2025 (ANI): Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh says, "We have been directed to conduct a comprehensive civil defence mock exercise titled Operation Shield, to test our preparedness for potential emergencies, including targeted attacks and large-scale disasters. This drill is scheduled for tomorrow and is part of a routine effort to ensure that our response systems remain sharp and effective... This exercise follows recent national-level operations like Operation Sindoor, and it will focus on our ability to respond to emergencies involving critical installations, potential casualties, and the impact on surrounding civilian areas. The goal is to practice rescue efforts, assess readiness, and identify both our strengths and areas for improvement. All emergency services will participate, including Civil Defence volunteers, wardens, Apada Mitras, NCC cadets, Emergency response departments... The session will last approximately two hours, during which we will simulate a scenario involving a targeted strike on a key installation. The drill will involve practicing casualty evacuation, managing injured civilians, and ensuring safe zones for affected populations... Operation Shield will simulate a more public-centric scenario involving both civilian and critical infrastructure. This makes it a unique and important step in preparing for real-life contingencies... We conduct such exercises because the role of civil defense is to remain prepared for all types of emergencies—natural or man-made... To strengthen local response, we have established Panchayat Emergency Response Teams in every Panchayat, led by Panchayat Secretaries or Account Assistants. Additionally, at the Tehsil level, response teams are headed by the Tehsildar; at the block level, coordination teams are in place headed by BDO... We urge the public to cooperate and support this important exercise..."

00:32the civilian areas are affected by the case,
00:34then we will be able to do what we will do.
00:37We will practice all of these practices.
00:40This is our list for today and is all planned for today.
00:44All the emergency departments, all the civil defense volunteers,
00:47all the wardens, our NCC kids, all our people included.

01:13Well, the first time, the mock drill that you all know,
01:16was the operation blackout.

01:19whatever things they need to be able to do,
01:21how the sirens should be able to do,
01:22how people have to go inside their homes and cover them.
01:27This was a simulation exercise.
01:29In case of any kind of targeted attack,
01:33how to do our vital installations and our civilian areas,
01:38there are casualties and our injured people,
01:42their rescue and relief,
01:43how to do all the things that are going to do.
01:45This is an exercise and this is purely people-centric.
01:48I hope that we will be able to do these exercises time-to-time.
01:52We will stay because the job of civil defence is that
01:55there is an accident,
01:56there is no emergency,
01:58there is no natural or emergency.
02:00We always have to be prepared.
02:03We have to be prepared for those exercises.
02:04We prepare for some mistakes.
02:06We improve our things.
02:08Sir, our district is a military terrain.
02:09Here we have also seen a lot of new jet forces.
02:13There is also a disaster in the area.
02:15This is a marker that we will help.
02:19And people will have safety...
02:22As I said, all the things we need to check our emergency response system, our volunteers, our troopers, all the people who are ready to see that this is a man-made disaster or natural disaster.
