00:06court had blocked them a day prior.
00:10Hamas is reviewing the latest US proposal for a new Gaza ceasefire deal.
00:16The reports suggest they may reject it.
00:21Evacuations continue following the collapse of a glacier in Switzerland's southern Lurchenthal
00:27valley.
00:30A federal appeals court temporarily reinstated US President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs
00:37after a federal trade court had blocked them a day earlier.
00:41Trump had invoked an emergency powers law to impose import taxes from almost every country
00:46in the world.
00:47A federal trade court ruled that Trump overstepped his presidential authority to impose such broad
00:53levies under the law.
00:54Trump's administration had appealed the decision and a court of appeals have now granted an
01:00emergency motion and temporarily halted the order from the trade court.
01:04The decision provides the White House with additional time to defend the legality of the
01:09president's efforts to reshape global trade relations.
01:12Hamas has said it's reviewing the latest US proposal for a new Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal,
01:23though reports suggest the Palestinian armed group may reject it.
01:30It comes after the White House said Israel has accepted the proposal, which would include a 60-day
01:36halt in fighting, the release of 28 hostages in exchange for more than 1,200 Palestinian prisoners, and an
01:45coalition in aid sent to the Gaza Strip, according to local media.
01:51A Hamas official stated the proposal favoured the Israeli position and failed to meet key demands,
01:58most notably a complete end to the war and the humanitarian crisis it has caused in Gaza.
02:04Meanwhile, Israel has continued its bombardment of the Strip overnight, issuing forced displacement orders
02:14for five more areas in northern Gaza on Friday morning.
02:19Palestinians are also still struggling to access aid, as chaos erupts at food distribution sites
02:27amid reports of Israeli smoke bombs and gunfire.
02:31While in Tel Aviv, anti-government protesters descended on Ben-Gurion Boulevard, calling for the release
02:38of all hostages from Gaza and an end to the war.
02:42At least 11 people, including two children, have been injured in Ukraine after a wave of missile
02:52and drone strikes hit the city of Kharkiv and the nearby region, officials said on Friday.
02:58It referred a major fire at a municipal transport enterprise, which extended to surrounding
03:05residential buildings.
03:07Also overnight, a series of Russian drone attacks on the Odessa region destroyed the branch
03:13of Ukraine's main postal operator.
03:16No injuries were reported in the attack, which triggered a fire covering over 300 square meters,
03:22and damaged a number of lorries within the facility.
03:26Ukraine says it repelled a total of 173 Russian attacks over multiple fronts in Russia's
03:32Khurskoblast region.
03:35The fiercest fighting was in Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian forces halted 66 assaults.
03:41From Belgium to Denmark, Bangladesh to Egypt, nuclear power is making a comeback.
03:53Under the motto, Let's Talk Nuclear, hundreds of delegates from all across the globe gathered
03:58in Vienna this week at the UN's nuclear watchdog, the IAEA.
04:03The aim? Boost expertise and calm public fears on what advocates say is the most climate-friendly fuel.
04:11At the IAEA, we're seeing a number of member states that have expressed interest in nuclear power
04:15for several reasons related to growing energy demands, climate change and other national considerations.
04:20But here in Austria, the home of the IAEA, a referendum in the 70s deemed the public anti-nuclear,
04:28meaning this gigantic power plant that cost 1 billion euro to build is now merely an attraction
04:35and in fact the best place in Europe to study nuclear power.
04:39This facility was never used since 1986. It sold some parts, so we're not 100% fully equipped
04:47and of course not able to operate, so technically not able to operate anymore.
04:53Not only because some parts are missing, but also because this facility is more than 40 years old,
04:59doesn't meet the today's standards and most important of all,
05:04we have constitutional law in Austria which forbids the operation of a nuclear power plant.
05:15Visitors get a fascinating peek inside the plant, the only one in the world that was built but never operational.
05:22The 1,000 rooms offer unique insights into nuclear technology and safety systems.
05:29Today the site has become a sort of Homer Simpson themed attraction park.
05:3415,000 people visit the site per year and this August, thousands of techno fans from all across this country and beyond
05:42will be gathering here for a gigantic rave.

05:49French President Emmanuel Macron called the newly signed deal between France and Singapore a tangible roadmap to innovate together.
06:01He added that the two nations' defence cooperation, joint support of multilateralism and joint investment in breakthrough technologies
06:09all are paving the way for future generations.
06:12The first step on this path is clearly this global strategic partnership that we have signed.
06:18Because this is not just a statement of intent.
06:22It is a tangible roadmap to invent together in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum tech, civil nuclear energy, education, cultural creation.
06:33The French leader's visit to Singapore marks the last leg of his Southeast Asia tour,
06:39where he focused on strengthening regional ties and boosting defence and trade cooperation.
06:44Him and other world leaders, diplomats and top defence officials, including US Defence Secretary Pete Hegsef,
06:51are attending Asia's top security summit over the weekend.
06:55The annual Shangri-La Dialogue will focus on China's growing assertiveness,
07:00the impact of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, flare-ups of conflicts in Asia and Trump's sweeping tariffs.
07:11Italy and Kazakhstan have signed a set of deals worth €4 billion during a visit by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Astana.
07:19The agreements were across a variety of sectors, including oil and gas, renewable energy and water management.
07:27Speaking at the Astana International Forum, Meloni emphasized the importance of deepening ties between the two nations.
07:34We must have the courage to look beyond our geographical boundaries and pave new paths.
07:41Starting, of course, with what already unites us and makes our relationship extremely strong.
07:48I'm thinking of the energy sector, where our cooperation can help make a difference.
07:54I'm also referring to critical raw materials, where our collaboration aims to generate shared benefits and mutual opportunities.
08:03Before heading to Kazakhstan, Meloni visited Uzbekistan for the first leg of her Central Asia trip,
08:09where she signed new trade agreements for investment in the country.
08:22The right to die, assisted suicide, euthanasia.
08:26The variability of terms used in Europe to describe the end of life indicates the difficulty of framing it in law.
08:33On Tuesday, France took a step towards legalizing assisted dying by passing the first reading of a new bill.
08:41In the European Union, five member countries allow active euthanasia.
08:47While each country has its own definition and framework, these legalizations are based on identical principles.
08:54First of all, the voluntary demand, reiterated, without external pressure,
09:01of a patient who must be competent and who is atteint of a serious and incurable medical infection,
09:09whether it be pathological or accidental,
09:13medical infection that causes him unapaisable sufferings, whether it be physical or psychic.
09:20The approach to euthanasia seems to have evolved over the years in countries that allow it,
09:25giving citizens and medical professionals time to adapt to the law.
09:30In 2023, nearly 10,000 euthanasia cases were reported in the Netherlands,
09:36around 3,500 in Belgium and 334 in Spain.
09:41Other countries have opted for a different approach to the end of life.
09:45Austria and Germany authorized assisted suicide.
09:48In this case, it is the patient who performs the end of life act,
09:51but the product is still provided by medical staff or a third party.
09:55In Italy, euthanasia is forbidden, but the courts have opened the way to assisted suicide,
10:01although there is no legal framework.
10:04Marco Cavato accompanied with patients in Switzerland,
10:08and at his return, he was denounced against authorities.
10:12The result is that we have a Supreme Court decision in Italy,
10:18which, in a sense, validating assistance to suicide in relatively strict conditions.
10:25But in the meantime, the Parliament has not legislated.
10:29The euthanasia is banned in several European Union countries,
10:32including Poland, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Malta.
10:36It is also banned in Ireland,
10:38but end-of-life legislation is currently under discussion there.
10:45Evacuations of both residents and animals continue following the collapse
10:50of the Birch Glacier in Switzerland's southern Lerchenthal Valley.
10:56Homes have been flooded and debris scattered around the village of Blatton,
11:0090% of which has reportedly been destroyed.
11:06Focus has now shifted to the safety of those living near the Lonza River,
11:11which the regional government warns could flood as a result of dammed water flows caused by debris.
11:18I haven't slept much this night.
11:21We were waiting for something to arrive.
11:23We need to leave.
11:25Authorities had evacuated around 300 people,
11:29as well as livestock, from Blatton village as a precaution earlier this month.
11:34But one man remains missing following the incident.
