Non-alcoholic beer is poised to jump ale as the second-largest beer category by volume.
Transcript
00:00The beer industry is headed for a major shake-up. According to a new report by industry tracker
00:05IWSR, non-alcoholic beer is poised to jump ale as the second-largest beer category by volume.
00:11Despite overall beer volume falling by 1% in 2024, non-alcoholic beer jumped 9% across the globe.
00:18Major beer distributors have ramped up production of zero-proof options over the last five years.
00:23Budweiser, Guinness, Heineken, and Diageo have all introduced non-alcoholic beers.
00:27But the biggest player in the market is athletic brewing, which accounts for roughly 17% of the category's total volume.
00:34And according to IWSR's projections, the category is only expected to expand.
00:39The group predicts non-alcoholic beer will increase by 8% annually through 2029.
00:43On the other hand, ale's volume is expected to drop by 2% a year in that same time frame.
00:48However, non-alcoholic beer has a long way to go to become the top-selling beer category.
00:52It still only holds a 2% global market share, while lager continues to add to its already massive 92% share.
00:59That'll do it for your Daily Briefing.
