00:00Any chance you'll do a movie together, Ajay, Jackie?
00:02Invite me. Come to India.
00:04Would love to. I'd love to work with you.
00:06You fight. I dare.
00:07That's good, Jackie. That's not bad. Yeah.
00:09You remember your moves.
00:10Yeah.
00:15I have to say, this is so exciting to have all of you in one place, so to speak.
00:20We have Jackie and Ben and here I have Ajay and Yogan.
00:24This is really exciting.
00:25I should start by saying the Karate Kid movies have always been about mentors and protégés,
00:32about a wise man taking a young kid under his wing and sort of showing him the way.
00:39I have to ask all of you here, who was your Mr. Miyagi?
00:44Who is the Mr. Miyagi in each of your own lives?
00:47Ajay, you want to go first?
00:48Hello. Hello. Hello, Jackie. Hello, Ben.
00:51I've been a great fan, Jackie.
00:53And for me, it was my father.
00:56I mean, he was one of the topmost action directors in the film industry.
01:01Yeah.
01:01And it was always his, also his dream that I become an actor and that's how I started.
01:09So it was, I mean, every which way it was him.
01:11Right.
01:12Jackie, who is that for you?
01:13Who is your Mr. Miyagi?
01:15Too many.
01:16I have so many teachers to teach me.
01:21They teach me a lot.
01:23So this is why, in my life, there are so many Miyagi around me.
01:28I learned so many things from them.
01:32So this is why, when I'm making a movie, when I become a Miyagi or Mr. Hunt,
01:37I want to teach the young children what I learned from my master.
01:45Okay.
01:46Ben, have you had that mentor figure?
01:49It's the same for me.
01:50I've had many, many great teachers.
01:52It's the only reason that I am where I am.
01:55You're lucky if you find one great teacher in life.
01:58And I've been lucky enough to find many.
02:00Right.
02:01Okay.
02:01For you, Yug?
02:02For me, it's obviously my father.
02:04He's been with me throughout.
02:06And yeah, he's been this.
02:08I look up to him.
02:09He's my inspiration.
02:10Okay.
02:11That's fair.
02:12You know, Ajay and Jackie, both of you have continued to do action over all these years.
02:18You do your own stunts as well.
02:19That's no secret.
02:20What is the secret to doing it consistently, even as one gets older?
02:26And what advice would you give the next generation, if you like, you know, Ben and Yug?
02:30I think it makes me continue to make action movies because all the fans around the world,
02:39believe it or not, this year, I'm in the film industry, 64 years.
02:46Wow.
02:46All my life doing action, action secret.
02:53And even this year, this age, and this generation, today, the technology, AI, special effect,
03:05the audience, they don't want to see Jackie use AI, a special effect.
03:12Poor me.
03:12Poor me.
03:15Then becoming, I still do my own things.
03:18Like used to be, I can jump triple with kick, then later on, double kick, but now one kick.
03:24Or maybe today, no kick, but they still want to see what I'm doing, the real things.
03:31And that makes me still doing action film.
03:37Ajay, you know, and Jackie, you should know, when Ajay first made his entry in movies, when he was a young man,
03:44his first film, he entered doing a sort of split on two moving motorbikes.
03:51It is an image that has been hard to ever forget from our minds.
03:55Ajay, going from that, what is the advice you'd give the younger generation of actors when it comes to sort of action?
04:00Ajay, I think, as he said, with technology, things have gotten a lot more easier.
04:06At that time, there was no graphics, no cables, no nothing.
04:11So we had to really, really work hard.
04:13But I would say, for today's generation also, not to depend on technology so much,
04:17and work hard, and that is the only way you get results.
04:20You have to work hard.
04:21You know, so let me come to the next generation.
04:25Ben and Yogi, I want to ask, are you guys action junkies?
04:28Ben, you've done a whole bunch of stunts in Karate Kid Legends.
04:32Yogi, I know you go to the gym, and I know occasionally you get trained by the legend himself.
04:35But would you consider yourselves action junkies?
04:37Is that something you enjoy?
04:39Yeah, I don't know if I'd call myself an action junkie, but I'm definitely a martial arts film junkie.
04:46I mean, they've been in my life.
04:48Jackie's movies have been in my life for as long as I can remember.
04:51So, yes, it's kind of been a part of my entire life.
04:56Was there one stunt over others that was particularly exciting and difficult and challenging and just a myriad of emotions?
05:02There were a lot of crazy stunts in there.
05:07I mean, I had to take a lot of hard falls for this.
05:11There's one in the film, off the top of my head,
05:15there's one where a guy sort of like sweeps out my leg with a baseball bat and I smash my face into a windshield.
05:22So we, I mean, we just did that.
05:24We did that.
05:25I was, you know, they were like, do you want to use a double for this?
05:29But they were like, you want to use a double for this?
05:31They were like, but they were like, but if you did it yourself, it would look really good.
05:34And so you can't, you can't say no to that kind of, that thing.
05:38Like, yeah, I want it to look really good.
05:40So I guess I have to do it myself.
05:41So you took a bunch of knocks for this one.
05:43Yeah.
05:43Yeah.
05:44Okay.
05:45For you?
05:46Um, I've obviously grown up watching him do action and like the big action hero that he is.
05:53Obviously, it's been a big part of my life.
05:56But he trains, he trains, he works out himself.
05:59I, uh, I train MMA.
06:02Oh.
06:03I've just grown up watching him and.
06:05Well, that, that, the best school is home, right?
06:07At home for you.
06:08Yeah.
06:08Yeah.
06:09You know, um, I want to ask Ajay, Ajay, you said at the, you said at the beginning that you,
06:13of course, have watched lots of Jackie's films.
06:15What is, do you have any favorites out of Jackie Chan's sort of canon of great films?
06:20Lots of them.
06:21I mean, uh, I mean, the whole Russia series, uh, Drunken Master, Rumble in the Bronx.
06:26I mean, you can go on and on and on.
06:28I mean, since we were kids, we've been watching him.
06:31And, uh, I love the way, apart from his action, the kind of humor he gets in, the timing of humor.
06:38That's really, really fabulous.
06:39You know, Jackie, um, as you, as you obviously know, because you did come to India and, and, and make a movie here as well.
06:47For a Bollywood star like Ajay, a superstar like, like Ajay, you got to know the, the fight moves, but you also got to know the dance moves.
06:57And I will say Ajay, it's not his favorite genre, I think, dancing, but he's, he's managed to do it pretty well, uh, over the years.
07:04I have to ask you, do you remember any of the dance moves that you picked up when you were making that movie in India some years ago?
07:11Uh, the, the, the, the, the Kung Fu yoga.
07:16Yes.
07:18But I, every time I watch an Indian film, just, just really surprised every actor, actress, everybody know how to dance.
07:29and also the choreograph so good so good and the rhythm the look
07:36uh i i really i i try to tell the the the the director one day i want to just do the one
07:46dancing sequence and mv from by india all the you know all kind of things
07:52yeah that's good jackie it's not bad yeah you remember your moves
07:57you know i want to ask ajay and jackie is um you know is is action a lot like dance the
08:05choreography of it i mean is it is it a lot of is it is a lot of it just sort of rhythm and dance
08:09and i mean is is it is there is there something similar to that it is it is quite similar i mean
08:14i mean the moves the rhythm is similar the timing of everything i think everything is it's quite
08:20similar yeah jackie long time ago when i design all the action sequence then i already think
08:28i want to make that action like dancing uh even the fighting tempo it's like a drum
08:37it's not just a punch punch punch punch kicking so when you just listen the action sequence
08:47boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boring so this way when i design all the action sequence i draw
08:54first boom boom boom three punch and stop and one kick then ah then then after you write all the
09:03things then you choreograph then boom boom boom boom boom boom boss
09:17then when the whole sequence fighting the audience boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom i i been
09:19when the whole sequence
09:21fighting the audience
09:22boom boom
09:24boom boom boom boom
09:25I've been
09:27studying these kind of things
09:29for a long time
09:30so I want
09:31when I design all the sequence
09:32then when is glass
09:35when is the wood things
09:37when is the windows
09:39when is the brief
09:40when is the foot movement
09:42with all the sets
09:44when is the music start
09:47boom
09:48you know
09:50because all my life
09:52in the action sequence
09:54I have to
09:55make the action sequence
09:58make the action choreograph
10:00different than some other people
10:02everybody
10:03I should remember
10:04action sequence
10:06if you not concentrate
10:08so boring
10:09boom boom boom boom boom
10:12you have to
10:13boom boom boom boom
10:15boom boom boom boom
10:16boom boom boom boom boom
10:17you know
10:18those kind of things
10:19you mix the audience
10:20it's a very
10:22that's a secret
10:23now I tell you
10:24I tell the whole world now
10:25that's so true
10:27you know it's interesting
10:29you say that
10:29and I want to ask
10:30both Ajay and you
10:31I think
10:31you know
10:32it's an observation
10:33the reason I
10:34I'm a huge fan
10:35of a film like
10:36Karate Kid
10:37of this franchise
10:37is because I feel like
10:38I really appreciate
10:40the discipline
10:41the choreography
10:42and the hard work
10:43that goes into
10:44pulling off these stunts
10:45especially at a time
10:46when you know
10:47it feels like we've all
10:48become very crazy
10:49and excited by
10:51sort of VFX
10:52and CGI
10:52and big superhero films
10:54where everything's possible
10:55and nothing's impossible
10:56but the truth is
10:57there's just so much beauty
10:59when you can see
11:00that someone's done it
11:01themselves
11:01when they've figured it out
11:03and sort of put in the work
11:05do you appreciate that?
11:06I mean is there
11:07is there a special
11:08sort of joy
11:08that comes from
11:09pulling off a really
11:10difficult stunt
11:11of course
11:12I'm really appreciate
11:14what technology right now
11:15they're helping
11:16a lot of people
11:17I just tell the
11:18new generation
11:19action star
11:21not like us
11:22all day
11:23because
11:23we don't
11:24we
11:25we didn't have

11:28we don't have money
11:29they don't give a day
11:33you jump in the window
11:34just jump
11:35but these days
11:36if you can do
11:37the real things
11:38do it
11:38but the high jump
11:39high fall
11:40still use
11:41the AI
11:42technology
11:42helping you
11:43there's a good balance
11:44to strike
11:45yeah
11:45we know
11:46there's a special effect
11:47the company
11:49they won't pay
11:50this kind of money
11:51we have to do it
11:52myself
11:53and I'm glad
11:55the whole day
11:56I can do it
11:56this day
11:57if I still do
11:58doing these kind of things
12:00please
12:00bring in the AI
12:02bring in the spec
