00:00Elon Musk is officially stepping down from his role in the Department of Government Efficiency.
00:05As a special government employee, Musk can only work in his role for 130 days in one
00:09calendar year, and that mark will be hit at the end of May.
00:12The Tesla CEO thanked President Trump on X, which he also owns, and wrote in his post
00:17that the Doge mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout
00:21the government.
00:22But as Musk's time in government comes to a close, Tesla shareholders remain concerned
00:26about his work at the company.
00:28In a letter obtained by CNN, a group of shareholders have urged Musk to work at least 40 hours a
00:32week at Tesla.
00:34In the letter, the concerned group said Mr. Musk's outside endeavors appear to have diverted
00:38his time and attention from actively managing Tesla's operations, as any other chief executive
00:43officer of a publicly traded company would be expected to do.
00:46The letter also urged Tesla's board to implement a clear-cut CEO succession plan.
00:51Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
00:53That'll do it for your daily briefing.
