Police and Council Unite to Tackle Speeding with Cutting-Edge Technology

A joint initiative between Telford & Wrekin Council and West Mercia Police has launched a high-tech crackdown on speeding, responding directly to growing concerns from residents.

00:00WCAM 2 has a high-definition laser that captures speed, distance and video,

00:04giving officers the evidence they need to deal with and either educate

00:08or, in the case of repeat speeders, for them to be dealt with through the judicial process,

00:13capturing the evidence to prosecute offenders instantly.

00:16The community here has raised concerns about speeding,

00:19and since we funded these cameras in December,

00:22it enabled the police to bring speeding drivers to justice quickly.

00:25Every reckless driver caught is one less threat to our children,

00:28neighbours and our community.
