US-Präsident Donald Trump hat seine umstrittene Zollpolitik verteidigt. "Mann nennt das Verhandeln" sagte er im Weißen Haus in Washington auf die Frage einer Reporterin, derzufolge in Medien die Rede davon ist, dass Trump  immer kneife, nachdem er mit Zöllen gedroht habe.

00:00Mr. President, Wall Street analysts have coined a new term called the taco trade.

00:03They're saying Trump always chickens out on the tariff threats, and that's why markets are higher this week.

00:08What's your response to that?

00:10I kick out?

00:11Chicken out.

00:12Oh, isn't that not chicken out? I've never heard that.

00:15You mean because I reduced China from 145% that I set down to 100% and then down to another number?

00:22I gave the European Union a 50% tax tariff, and they called up and they said,

00:30please, let's meet right now. Please, let's meet right now.

00:33And I said, okay, I'll give you until July 9th.

00:36I actually asked them, I said, what's the date? Because they weren't willing to meet.

00:40And after I did what I did, they said, we'll meet anytime you want.

00:45And we have an end date of July 9th. You call that chickening out?

00:50Six months ago, this country was stone cold dead.

00:54We had a dead country. We had a country people didn't think it was going to survive.

00:57And you ask a nasty question like that.
