Ai verses Human Mind note the difference
Transcript
00:00What if we challenge AI? What if I try to draw an image and at the same time I ask AI to draw
00:07the same image or at least from the same ID and words?
00:17The first thing I wanted to do here was to ask Kriya how would you represent a cartoon character
00:24driving a banana go-kart? Here you have the very first drafts of this AI. The AI decided that the
00:31character should be a banana too so I thought what if we ask for a monkey character? This is my first
00:37human intervention in here. I am already driving and leading the AI in a certain direction. I did a
00:45bunch of different tests trying different styles. The point was to have just a mood board where I
00:52have all these ideas so all these designs are my competition. Now as a human the very first thing
00:59I did was to make a kind of a copy of a go-kart. I tried to understand it from a volume perspective
01:05so I'm not trying to create the perfect go-kart. It's just a reference for myself so I understand
01:11my two main objects for this design. First a go-kart, second a banana. Then I go to the sketch
01:18face. I try to create an interesting design mixing what I have learned from a go-kart and from a banana.
01:25What if we play with the shape of an open banana? We play with the skin of the banana and try to
01:32convert it into cool design elements. What if we play with a character? Maybe he's driving with the feet
01:39which is something that a monkey would do. So this is my human ideas and most of all narrative. Trying to
01:46build not only a cool design but a story. This monkey drive with his feet but also he has a certain
01:53attitude. So that's what I do when I go with the inking which is the final stage. I want this monkey
01:58also to be a bit cocky because once again I want this to be a story you can rely on to. A monkey who would
02:06just be eating a banana while driving a go-kart at full speed should be somehow cocky. I refine all
02:13the details. I work on very specific elements trying to add design elements but most of all being
02:20consistent which is something the AI is not that bad at but in the end you can feel that it's pretty
02:26random. They don't have a theme. Everything is super generic. And then finally I can move on to color and
02:33try to bring this design to life. Thinking about the motion of this vehicle would create. Creating a
02:40composition. Not only something generic as the AI does. So it's all these parameters that a human
02:46brain can take into account and in the end reach a more specific design. Telling a story. AI is very
02:53good at crafting high-end polished images very fast. But the ideation phase is definitely way better when
03:02it's led by humans. If you want to know more about AI, about the future that is waiting for us, have a look
03:09at my new course in Domestika.
