Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has accepted the leave applications of Cabinet ministers Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, both of whom have submitted letters of resignation.
 
In a brief statement, Anwar confirmed receiving their letters and said any further decisions regarding their resignations would be announced later.

00:25Rafizi, the Economy Minister, and Nick Nazmi, the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability
00:31Minister, announced their resignations on Wednesday, just days after failing to secure
00:36top positions in their party, PKR.
00:40Rafizi lost his bid to retain the Deputy President's post, while Nick Nazmi failed to win one of
00:45four Vice President positions.
00:48Both leaders cited their resignations as consistent with their belief that Cabinet roles should
00:53reflect party leadership standings.
00:56In their respective statements, they expressed gratitude to the civil service, party members,
01:02media and the public for their support over the past two and a half years.
01:06They also highlighted their achievements, including completing the draft of the 13th Malaysia Plan
01:11and tabling a National Biodiversity Action Plan to combat deforestation and environmental
01:17degradation.
01:18Rafizi and Nick Nazmi were appointed to their respective posts following the formation of
01:24the Unity Government after the 15th general election in November 2022.
