Firefighters from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service issue BBQ warning to help prevent wildfires this summer
Transcript
00:00Everyone, as we're about to head into a period of warm, dry weather, we're asking everyone to help reduce the risk of wildfires and to protect our countryside.
00:08Our advice is always to pack a picnic, but we understand that people might be tempted to have a barbecue.
00:15If you must have a barbecue, please make sure it's done safely and responsibly.
00:22Once you've finished cooking, pour plenty of water or sand over your disposable barbecue to make sure it's completely out.
00:30Never put the barbecue in a bin until the coals are cold, even warm embers can reignite.
00:37Don't ever take a used barbecue into a tent or car, as the smoldering embers can give off toxic carbon monoxide.
