00:00Oh, I can hear them!
00:02If you're prone to burning your spices when you toast them on the stove,
00:05try it in the microwave instead.
00:07Toasting spices before using them in your food
00:09really brings out the oils in the spice,
00:11enhancing their smell, their flavor, and their overall depth.
00:14Line a microwave safe plate with paper towel
00:16and spread your spices in an even layer.
00:18Cover with another paper towel
00:20and microwave at 45 to 1-minute increments
00:23until the spices start to smell really fragrant.
00:25You'll be able to hear them, too.
00:26They sound like snap, crackle, pop,
00:27like when you put your ear up to your Rice Krispies.
00:29Okay, I'm gonna grind them up.
00:31Once the spices are really fragrant
00:33and making that hissing and popping noise,
00:35go ahead and grind them up
00:36and then store them in an airtight container in your cabinet.
00:39Oh, my gosh.
00:40I'm gonna put this on everything.
00:41That smells so good.
