00:14John Powell is the first person I called about doing How to Train the Dragon as a live action movie.
00:19The music that John creates is iconic.
00:24It's interesting to come back to the material that people really like.
00:28People really respond to these tunes and so he doesn't want to disappoint by omitting any of them.
00:33I felt that the joy of flying was really in the film.
00:36You ready?
00:37And the joy of a friendship. So Test Drive had to be there.

00:53One of the things I had to do was try and restructure things.
01:00If I've done my job right, people will think I haven't done anything different at all.
01:06But there are a lot of differences going on and I'm trying to make them feel as if they always were there.
01:12What he does with the melodies he creates are like narrative harmonies to what's front and present in the story.
01:19Themes of estrangement and heartbreak and yearning for acceptance and friendship.
01:24This is a big film with a joy of life and a joy of flying and heartbreak of families and the redemption of knowing that one person who's determined can change everything.
01:39We go to the cinema to enjoy the pleasures of imagination and invention, the rich colors in the visuals, in the sound and in the music.
