With prisons in England and Wales nearing full capacity, early release and chemical castration are being considered to ease pressure. We ask people in Birmingham whether they think violent offenders should be let out early—and whether that makes them feel safe.

00:01I believe everyone should have a second chance.
00:03It just depends on their steps.
00:05I think more stuff should be put in to help facilitate,
00:09because no one's bad.
00:11It's choosing on whatever path you choose in life.
00:15But yeah, I think that's my opinion on it.
00:21I do believe everybody has a chance for reform,
00:24but certain crimes just can't be overlooked.
00:28I do understand that there could be opportunities for rehabilitation,
00:31for violent offenders and criminals.
00:33And as far as the castration goes,
00:35I understand that that's what was considered for pedophiles.
00:40But I do honestly think that at the end of the day,
00:43these people deserve rehabilitation and they're humans,
00:46and people could change.
00:48Even though I know I don't feel safe,
00:50I trust the government that they could bring some other form of suggestions
00:55that could cause this, you know, situation.
00:59I think the Nicole big thing can change.
01:02And though I think it's true that all of us will dress properly
