00:00Venezuela celebrates the historic win of Chavismo at the legislative and
00:13corner elections on Sunday. In Argentina, the General Labor Confederation filed a
00:23judicial appeal to declare as unconstitutional the government's decree which restricts the
00:27workers' right to strike in the country. And in Malaysia, the second day of the 46th
00:37summit of the Gulf Corporation Council and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
00:41continues which main topic on agenda was the possibility of diversifying trading networks.
00:47Hello, welcome from the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Adelso Studios in Havana,
00:57Cuba. We'll begin with the news.
00:59And Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro addressed the Venezuelan people during his program after
01:18Chavismo won the legislative and governor elections in the country. One day after the ruling coalition,
01:24won in 23 of the 24 states of the nation, including the Guayana Sequiva, President Maduro described
01:29defeat as a historic win that puts an end to a 10-year period of conspiracies against the country
01:35and shows the true power of Chavismo. The head of state congratulated all elected governors and
01:41legislators and highlighted that Venezuela is creating a truly democratic alternative to the
01:45liberal institutionality. Furthermore, the head of state denounced the international silence
01:50regarding the crimes perpetrated against democracy and peace in the Bolivarian nation.
02:02Because they cover it up, it is a way of having a story that covers those they move within the
02:07country or from abroad. Because we captured several foreign mercenaries, they cover them with a human
02:13rights defender card will they come to kill in Venezuela. And then they raise an opinion movement there in
02:25Europe, poor things, kidnapped, hostages, oh but do we have to let them kill us? Do we have to let them plant
02:32bombs, let them kill innocent Venezuelans? Let them attack vital objectives of the country? No, there is a
02:46constitutional first that is respected here, and whoever comes to conspire will be captured, tried and
02:52punished according to the laws of Venezuela.
02:54And in this context, the Venezuelan people celebrate the historic victory of Chavismo after winning the
03:05vast majority of the governorships and parliament in last Sunday's elections. Celebrations for the electoral
03:11victory of the revolutionary forces have been carried across the country, where the people are mobilized to
03:16show their support to the new governors, legislators and parliamentarians. For their part, more than 2,000
03:22motorized vehicles join the celebration touring the streets of Caracas, showing their support to the great
03:27patriotic poll, which obtained 80% of the votes for the National Assembly and 99% of the governorships.
03:40And the United Socialist Party of Venezuela ratified Monday the great majority victory
03:46in the regional and legislative elections of 2025. Secretary General of the party, Diosdado Cabello,
03:51I found that Sunday's elections consolidated the Bolivarian Revolution after a resounding victory
03:56that guarantees national peace. The political leader thanked the Bolivarian National Armed Forces for
04:00the protection it provided across the nation and emphasized that the state of Guayana-Esequiba
04:06already has an elected governor who will guarantee peace and the safeguard of national sovereignty.
04:11That's the people, a people that does not give up, and that in spite of adversities goes out,
04:26and responds, and there you have the answer, a great popular victory. . The rest, is just fairy tales,
04:34the rest is just fairy tales. People expressed themselves freely, and there were results for the governorships.
04:41From 23 to 24. Bad? It is not bad. The same with the National Assembly. An extraordinary victory.
04:56Some of the comrades here today are going to the National Assembly. Congratulations to the new deputies,
05:04Congratulations to the gentlemen of the opposition, who are going to the National Assembly.
05:12who are going to the National Assembly. They won and are going to the National Assembly.
05:17They will all meet face to face with comrades coming from the neighborhoods, from the communities,
05:23from where the true popular feeling comes, and they will be in a scenario of political debate.
05:29Moreover, Cabello announced that 10 states with the highest participation will have direct financing from
05:38the communal circuits. In addition, from now on, the communal circuits, where there was a higher
05:51participation, 10 per state, will have a direct financing. The communal circuits, where there was
05:58greater participation, the first 10 will have direct financing from the president. For life together,
06:05everything is possible. In this context, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated the Venezuelan
06:17people for their triumph acquired in the electoral process of May 25th. Through his social media and
06:23next to a photo of his Venezuelan counterpart, Diaz-Canel expressed congratulations to Nicolás Maduro and the
06:28brothers of the great patriotic poll of Venezuela, whose candidates won in the legislative and regional
06:35elections. The Bolivarian revolution consolidates its institutions with the majority support of the
06:40people in spite of the sieges and sanctions.
06:53Answering on, President Chan Santoki confirmed negotiations to form a possible coalition government
06:58following the preliminary results of the general elections. The elections were a technical tie between
07:04the Progressive Reform Party, represented by Santoki and the National Democratic Party. Going to the
07:09Ministry of the Interior, with 84% of the vote counted, the Progressive Reform Party and the National
07:14Democratic Party won 18 seats each in the National Assembly. This technical tie means that no party will
07:20achieve an absolute majority to govern alone, so they must form the coalition requested by Santoki.
07:25The official results, expected in 48 hours, will determine the negotiations to reach the 34 seats
07:30needed to form a government. We now have our first break. Remember, you can join us on TikTok at

08:00Welcome back. In Argentina, the General Labor Confederation filed a judicial appeal challenging
08:08President Javier Millet's decree to limit the right to strike in the country. Central Labor Union filed a
08:14judicial appeal to declare as unconstitutional the government. The government's decree of necessity and
08:21urgency, which extends the list of services considered essential. The decree establishes that the essential
08:27services must provide a minimum service of 75%, while activities considered to be of transcendental
08:34importance must guarantee a minimum service of 50%. In this sense, the Union argued that the
08:41government's decree restricts the workers' right to strike and violates the International Pact on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
08:57In Chile, Senator Fabiola Campillai, a representative of the National Network of Survivors of the Social
09:05Outbreak, ended their relationship with President Gabriel Boric's government. During a press conference held in
09:11the Historic Center of Santiago, Campillai explained that the presidential candidate at the time had met with
09:18them in May 2022 to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive reparations roundtable. However, three years later,
09:25they denounced the Undersecretary of Human Rights for the lack of progress, abandonment of victims of
09:31Pinochet's dictatorship, and the complete absence of political will to fulfill this long-awaited commitment.
09:37The senator also announced that she would not be attending the next public hearing on June 1st because
09:42she believed that the government has failed in the struggle for human rights and has supported laws
09:47that have released human rights violators.
09:56And in Honduras, authorities handed over on Monday the evidence that links the former chief of the
10:01Armed Forces, Romeo Vázquez Velázquez, with drug trafficking and money laundering. The evidence
10:06consists of leaked videos that show Romeo Vázquez inserting bundles of bills in a black bag. The head of the
10:12Special Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime, David Amaya, said that the video before being
10:18presented was subjected to an expert analysis in which it is proved that there was a meeting with a
10:23drug trafficker and it can be seen that Vázquez received money. The prosecutor added that the
10:28investigative cost is money laundering and they will proceed with the financial expert analysis.
10:33U.S. Democratic Congressman Glenn Ivey said that authorities in El Salvador prevented him from
10:46visiting Kilmar Abrego Garcia in prison. Abrego Garcia is being detained in the Central American
10:52country after being deported from the United States despite having a legal status that protected him.
10:57The U.S. politician published before his appearance a video on X in which he is shown at the entrance of a
11:02prison without specifying if it was the mega-prison of the terrorism confinement center Sekot or
11:07another one. Abrego Garcia is one of the more than 200 migrants expelled from the U.S. and sent to a
11:12high-security prison without access to his family or lawyers.
11:21Yeah, well, we were not able to meet with Kilmar, for sure. We went out to the Santa Ana prison today
11:28and got there and we spoke to the people at the gate. They wouldn't open the gate and let us in.
11:35They said that we had to go back to San Salvador to get a permit for a visit, which doesn't make any sense
11:43because I've already gone over the heads of, you know, the people who were doing admissions to the prison.
11:47We went to, I was here before, but the key thing was to visit with Kilmar for the reasons that Chris
11:54discussed, to make sure that he's okay, to discuss his legal rights and the like. So, um...
12:08In the United States, the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii is in full eruption and has spewed lava jets up to
12:18300 meters high. The event was recorded in images that several users of social media shared last
12:24Sunday. The crater expelled high levels of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, two substances harmful
12:30to health. Kilauea, one of the six most active volcanoes in Hawaii, attracts tourists for its large
12:36lava jets during the surge. The volcano is also considered one of the most active volcanoes in the
12:43world and has experienced several episodes similar to this one since December 23.
12:54Also in the United States, more than 228,000 homes in the state of Texas are left without power due to
13:00the intense storms that hit the region on Monday. Precisely, high-risk counting in eastern Texas was one
13:06of the hardest hit, with more than 100,000 customers without power by early Tuesday morning, according
13:12to incident trafficking website Power Outage. The storm occurred during Memorial Day, a federal holiday
13:18in the United States. In this context, the National Weather Service issued flood watches and severe flood
13:24warnings for the entire area, in addition to forecasting severe thunderstorms.

13:58Welcome back. On Tuesday, Middle East leaders met on the second day of the 46th summit of the Gulf
14:14Corporation Council and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Malaysia. Malaysian Prime Minister
14:20Anwar Ibrahim received the leaders of countries such as Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar,
14:25and the Arab Emirates for the second summit held in the capital of Kuala Lumpur. During the first day
14:31of the summit, Ibrahim warned of a transition in the global geopolitical order and the resurgence
14:36of protectionism as a threat to multilateral trade. In this context, the Prime Minister stressed the
14:41importance of deepening ties with strategic partners to build resilience in the face of
14:45phenomenon as such as market fragmentation and food crisis.
14:57The World Health Organization warned of low stockpiles of medicine in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli
15:19ban on the entry of humanitarian aid. Going to the agency's regional director for the eastern Mediterranean,
15:25Hanan Balki, about 64 percent of medical equipment and 42 percent of essential drugs and vaccines,
15:32reached serious stock level. The agency's director general Tedros Adam Ghebreyesus earlier called on
15:38Israel to stop the systematic destruction of the health system in Gaza. He also said that war does
15:43not offer lasting solutions and that peace can only be achieved through political means.
15:47The blockade that took place that has been taking place for over 11 weeks, there has been no WHO
16:01trucks entering into Gaza for medical care support. So the situation is devastating. The stock of the
16:09essential medicines list, we're at stock zero of close to 42 of essential medicines and vaccines. We are
16:17stock zero of close to 64 percent of medical equipment. We continue to ask and request over and over
16:25again to allow for the trucks. I think over 50, and my colleague will assist me if I'm messing up any of
16:32these numbers, but I think close to 51 trucks standing at the border with all of the support to go in.
16:39A new United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization geospatial assessment showed less than five
16:44percent of Gaza Strip croplands suitable for cultivation. A joint assessment by the United
16:49Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the United Nations Satellite Center described the situation
16:54of the Gaza Strip farmlands as alarming. The assessment found that more than 80 percent of total farmland has
17:01been damaged, while 77.8 percent of that land is now inaccessible to farmers. Instruction has extended to
17:09greenhouses and water sources. Also 71.2 percent of greenhouses and 82.8 percent of agricultural wells were
17:18damaged by the Sionese brutal aggressions against the Gaza Strip.
17:22An Israeli occupation of forces and settlers stormed and waved Sionese flags at the Al-Aqsa Mosque,
17:33considered the third holiest site for the Muslim people in occupied Jerusalem. The event took place
17:38during the Sionese celebration known as the March of the Flags, which commemorates the Israeli occupation
17:43of East Jerusalem in 1967. Israeli forces restricted the free passage of the Palestinian people by blocking
17:49the entrances to the old city with iron barriers. These measures increased tensions during the march,
17:55which passed through sensitive areas such as Bab al-Mud and the Al-Wad neighborhood. The incursion of the
18:00Israeli occupation represents a flagrant violation of the historical status quo of religious sites and
18:06a destabilizing element in the region.
18:08The Yemeni resistance movement and Sarrola denounced the Israeli attack on the Al-Yarwawi
18:19school in Gaza and the burning of dozens of refugees as a war crime. The numerous victims,
18:26most of them children, were burned to death when the fire caused by the bomb raised to classrooms
18:30converted into shelters for displaced people. The Yemeni and Sarrola movement expressed its concern
18:36following the escalation of the crime. It also stressed that the Sionese criminals are fully
18:43responsible for these crimes and calling all nations to strengthen their actions to put pressure on the
18:48war criminals and child murderers in Gaza and also on the governments that support the crimes.
19:06The Russian Defense Ministry said the Ukrainian government has taken a series of provocative
19:14measures to disrupt peace negotiations resumed on May 16th. Defense authorities reported that since
19:20May 20th, Kiev forces multiplied the number of drone and missile attacks on civilian and military
19:24facilities in Russian territory. In response, the Russian armed forces carried out a series of air,
19:30sea and land precision strikes against military facilities and enterprises of the Ukrainian military
19:35industrial complex. According to the Defense Ministry, Ukraine's actions aim at undermining
19:40efforts to end the conflict peacefully and are supported by some EU countries.
19:51And Iran and China consolidate a strategic alliance with the creation of a land trade corridor that
19:56promises to reshape Eurasian trade. The rail route drastically shortens transportation times between
20:03China and Iran from the 30-40 days required by the traditional sea route to just 15 days by land.
20:09This competitive advantage is of particular relevance as global supply chains seek more efficient alternatives
20:16that are less vulnerable to geopolitical disruptions. This project sidesteps U.S. maritime control
20:21through strategic points such as the Straits of Malacca.
20:40An archaeologist in northwest China, Xinjiang, Ugyu Autonomous Region have discovered a site of rock
20:46paintings dating back around 2,500 years. Two sites with 30 paintings have been discovered on the steep
20:53northern cliffs of the Sairam Lake, a high altitude alpine lake in Xinjiang's Xinjiang Mountains.
21:00The painting depicts animals, figures and hunting scenes. The most representative one is a picture of
21:06hunting with a bow drone. Juan Yue, an archaeology expert who conducted the on-site investigation
21:14state that the painting shows the production and living scenes of about 2,500 years ago. The images of
21:21animal socials Ibex and Aracali in the rock paintings also indicate that the Sairam Lake area was once a fertile pasture.
