00:08The 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee isn't just another contest. It marks 100 years of spelling excellence and academic celebration.

00:18Hosted just outside Washington, D.C., the competition takes place in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

00:25Over 240 of America's top young spellers have gathered to compete.

00:30Blanche is 14, from Boulder, Colorado. This is her second bee, but her first time competing live on the national stage.

00:39She earned her spot by spelling diatreme, a volcanic pipe formed by explosions. Talk about explosive talent.

00:4812-year-old Vedant Hales from Aurora, Colorado. Spelling is in his blood, his older brother was runner-up in 2022.

00:56I'm pretty nervous because it's a big event, Vedant told reporters. But he's ready for the challenge.

01:05From regional champ to national stage, Bindi loves reading and spelling new words.

01:11This bee reminds people that learning is fun, she says.

01:15Luke collects foreign currencies and plays the trumpet.

01:18His word prep? Root origins from Latin, Greek, and French.
