00:00Rob Matthew was a guitarist and songwriter in the new wave of British heavy metal band
00:05Atomcraft during the 1980s. They released their debut album, Future Warriors, on Neat Records
00:12in 1985. That same year, they toured Europe supporting Exodus and Venom, with Rob being
00:20only 16 years old at the time. Like other members of Atomcraft, Rob used a stage name,
00:26opting to drop his surname, Redhead, and use his middle name, Matthew, as his surname.
00:33He also dropped the letter T from Matthew, creating the stage name Rob Matthew, which could be
00:40confusing. However, what was undeniable was Rob's exceptional guitar playing and songwriting for
00:48such a young age. He spent the remainder of his teenage years with Atomcraft, recording albums
00:55and touring Europe, engaging in all the activities typical of a recording and touring heavy metal
01:01band in the 1980s. Rob left the band in 1989 to pursue education, attending art college
01:09and then university. Nevertheless, he has remained a musician and songwriter throughout his life,
01:16amassing a large portfolio of bands and music projects, which he continues to work on to this day.
