00:00Hi, first of all, how are you feeling that this is a golden opportunity and you have expected this or how are you feeling when you said that you are going to participate in this Miss World event?
00:11So for me, it was an incredible experience and I never even thought I'd have the opportunity to be here.
00:15I was actually in Spain fishing when I got the message to come to India and I was beyond thrilled.
00:21This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm so grateful to be here.
00:24Actually, this is not an expected one. It's a sudden one as someone else was there here before.
00:31So what the first thing came into your brain?
00:34I just couldn't believe it. I didn't think it was true.
00:36I actually had my headphones in and the text came through on my headphones.
00:40And as I said, I was fishing at the time and I'm jumping for joy.
00:43And my partner was saying, have you caught a fish? Have you caught a fish?
00:46I said, no, it's so much better than a fish. I said, I'm going to Miss World.
00:49So yesterday you participated in this fashion finale. How was that?
00:54And what was the costumes and you wore that Indian tradition wear also?
00:58Yes, so my finale dress was Indian inspired by a designer called Trudy Smith.
01:03At the second I knew I was coming to India, I thought I'd definitely have to take a bit of your fashion and my fashion and merge them together.
01:09So there is a small conspiracy going on as Miss England was back and you came here.
01:14So are you feeling a bit uncomfortable because of that?
01:17No, not in the slightest. From my experiences so far, I've had a really positive time here.
01:23Everybody has been lovely. I've felt nothing but safe and comfort.
01:26So yeah, as far as that, that's as far as I'm going to go.
01:30So as you mentioned that you came in call suddenly.
01:33So what is the beauty of Purpose? Because everyone is carrying a one beauty with Purpose project.
01:38What is your project?
01:40So for Miss England, when I competed, I raised a lot of money for charity called Balls to Cancer.
01:44And I raised £7,000 in just a couple of weeks.
01:47So for this, I did a lot of charity work and fundraising.
01:50So I'm here to raise awareness about Balls to Cancer, which is men's testicular cancer.
01:55If we are prepared for any event, that's fine.
01:58But it is not a prepared one.
02:00You came here very suddenly.
02:02Are you nervous? Are you worrying about?
02:04No, I'm okay. I'm not too nervous.
02:06I'm just enjoying every single day and taking it as it comes.
02:09But there are some events already done.
02:12The sports finale and some events were already completed.
02:15The finale will be in week time.
02:18So how are you preparing for the finale?
02:20So I've got a great team back at home that are helping me.
02:22I know I've missed out on a couple of rounds,
02:24but I'm just here to enjoy each day and take each challenge head on.
02:28So how was this welcoming thing from Telangana and the government?
02:33Oh, the welcoming from Telangana and the government has been incredible.
02:36Everybody's been so loving.
02:37There's hugs everywhere.
02:38There's celebrations.
02:39I've loved every minute.
02:41Have you visited any places in Telangana?
02:44You visited anything?
02:45Are you shocked for something?
02:47No, not just yet.
02:48As I've only just arrived, I spent a few days,
02:50kind of get my head around being jet lagged.
02:52But I have loved the views from the hotel and the people.
02:55Hi, I'm very happy to meet you.
02:58How are you feeling on today?
02:59It's very lovely to meet you as well.
03:01Today I'm having an absolutely amazing day.
03:03Every single day here is absolutely lovely.
03:05So you're a wedding planner by profession, right?
03:08Yes.
03:08So how have you started this wedding planning business?
03:12So the way it works is I work with a hotel group.
03:16And so the brides and things, they come to the hotel.
03:19And then we are responsible for helping them plan their wedding
03:22and make sure everything goes smoothly.
03:24We run the weddings on the day.
03:25So it's a very exciting job, but it's a lot of responsibility.
03:28Here in India, we have so many rituals in the weddings.
03:31So we have at least a weekday long programs.
03:35So how are the weddings there in Scotland?
03:37So they're more traditional kind of Western style,
03:40but we also do post Asian weddings and things.
03:44So I get the chance to see them with the drums and everything.
03:48Like it's so exciting to see it all.
03:50But the weddings that we tend to plan are more traditionally like white weddings
03:57with the white dresses and the white flowers and the white decorations everywhere.
04:01So it's very beautiful.
04:02But I do think the Asian weddings are, they tend to be a bit more exciting
04:08just because they've got so much color and vibrancy.
04:11It's so beautiful to see.
04:13The brides, their makeup is always stunning.
04:15So, yeah.
04:16So what kind of dresses you really love to wear?
04:20I love to wear kind of ball gown style dresses.
04:25I feel like I'm very tall, so it makes my legs look a little bit longer
04:29when I'm wearing the ball gown style dresses.
04:34But any dresses I love, to be fair.
04:37The comfortable clothing?
04:39It doesn't have to be comfortable.
04:41It doesn't have to be comfortable as long as it looks nice.
04:43It's a girl thing.
04:44Yeah, beauty is pain.
04:46So every girl really wants to be beautiful in their outfits.
04:50But every girl on their wedding day is beautiful.
04:53So you are in Dubai for three years, I think.
04:56I was, yeah.
04:57Yes, yes.
04:58So how was the experience there?
05:00How many friends do you have?
05:01Indian friends there?
05:02Yeah, so interestingly, the largest population in the UAE
05:06is made up of the lovely Indian people.
05:09So I have a lot of Indian friends there.
05:11A lot of my co-workers were from India.
05:14One of my previous managers, he was from India as well.
05:17I've got a lot of lovely connections.
05:19In particular, I've got one friend, Ramsha.
05:22She worked in the media section or the marketing section
05:27of the company that I worked at when I was in Dubai.
05:30But yeah, I have so many friends there.
05:32But being in Dubai prepared me for coming here
05:35because of the temperature.
05:37It's very hot here, but it was also very hot there.
05:39So I was able to acclimatise there
05:41and it's not been too bad of a jump over here for it
05:43because Scotland is very cold.
05:46So are you feeling uncomfortable here with the weather?
05:49No, not at all.
05:50The sun is a little bit intense.
05:52So I make sure I've got my sun cream on.
05:55But apart from that, no, it's absolutely stunning here.
05:57We had lightning the other night, which was really exciting.
06:00You have beautiful curls with your hair.
06:02They're so beautiful, like wavy.
06:04So how are you managing your hair?
06:07So I use a lot of kind of color while products
06:10that are kind of, they tame the frizz
06:13because the humidity is a little bit difficult
06:15for my type of hair.
06:16But in general, it's not been too difficult.
06:19The weather is quite, despite it being hot,
06:21it's quite easy to adjust to.
06:23So I'm not really finding it hard at all.
06:25My hair kind of tends to hold a curl.
06:27So I'm quite lucky that way.
06:28So Ms. Cortland, so every girl who are representing
06:32their own countries in this world
06:34are carrying great purposes.
06:36Yeah.
06:36So what is your purpose?
06:37So my purpose is centered around a condition
06:41called multiple sclerosis.
06:43So multiple sclerosis is a condition
06:46that affects your brain and your spinal cord.
06:49And essentially, your immune system starts attacking
06:52the coating of your spinal cord,
06:54which affects many different parts of your movement.
06:56And it can affect your thinking.
06:59It can give you fatigue.
07:01It's quite an intense condition to have.
07:06My cousin was diagnosed with it when she was my age.
07:09So it is degenerative.
07:10So over time, it does get worse.
07:12And witnessing that in my cousin has made it very clear
07:15that it's something that I want to advocate for
07:17because at this moment in time,
07:19there's not a lot of treatment options.
07:21So I am very passionate about kind of raising awareness
07:24awareness and spreading information about the condition
07:28because currently there's 3 million people in the world
07:31that are living with the condition.
07:3317,000 of those are in Scotland,
07:35which is one of the highest rates in the world.
07:37So it's very important to me.
07:39And I hope I can share more with everyone about the condition
07:43because it is very important to me.
07:45My Beauty with the Purpose video has been published on YouTube,
07:48which kind of goes into more detail about it
07:50if anyone is interested in watching it.
07:52But yeah, it is incredibly, incredibly important to me.
07:56Yeah, I know about this condition
08:00because most of the times I read the news pieces about health issues.
08:04So that's why I came to know about this situation.
08:06Yeah, well, that's really important to me
08:08that you know about that as well.
08:09It makes me very proud that the awareness has been spread.
08:13But the pain you know much
08:15because it's a close family member you.
08:17Yeah, and my cousin, she was raised as my big sister.
08:20So we're very, very close.
08:23So it was very hard.
08:24She was diagnosed at the age that I am today.
08:27So it's very close to home with me.
08:29But yeah, I'm very grateful that I have this platform
08:32to kind of raise awareness towards it.
08:34Hi, Miss Italy. How are you?
08:36Hello, everyone.
08:37I'm Chiara from Italy.
08:39And I feel super good, super excited to be here.
08:43So thank you.
08:45So you are a ballet dancer?
08:46Yeah, I am.
08:47Can you please share something about the ballet dance?
08:50Because we came to know about ballet
08:52when we watch Hollywood movies.
08:53Yeah, I have been dancing for 30 years
08:57and I'm graduated at Teatro La Scala in Milan.
09:00So I am a professional dancer.
09:03Is there any dancer in your family who encourage you?
09:06How have you got interested into learning ballet?
09:10Eh, what's, so, I don't know.
09:14I don't know.
09:14Hmm, what's the reason why I started?
09:18And from the first day, it's my passion.
09:24It's something of inside me.
09:26Do you remember when you gave the first performance
09:30or any song you gave the first performance?
09:33Yeah, I remember my first performance in the private school of ballet.
09:39It was strange.
09:41I was so excited, but of course, without technical, just emotions.
09:47But it really was one of my best memories.
09:52Okay.
09:53Are you a movie bug?
09:54But you watch more movies?
09:56Yeah, I watch, yeah.
09:58Any Indian movies?
09:59No, not yet.
10:02Is this the first time you are visiting India?
10:04Yeah, it's my first time here.
10:06And it's a special place.
10:10It's different from Italy, but I feel so close to my country and also to my heart.
10:16I feel at home here because the people are special, they're welcome, it's incredible.
10:24They really take care of us.
10:26Italy is famous for landscapes, beaches, and culturally also rich.
10:33So can you please share something about your country?
10:37Yeah, my country, like yours, is rich in culture, in history.
10:43We are famous for art and, of course, for good foods.
10:47Which food do you love from Italy?
10:52I think pasta and pizza.
10:54I am super Italian.
10:55So, but I love to try also new foods, for example, here.
11:01It's a little bit spicy, but I will try to do my best for try all.
11:09Any cultural festivals that you celebrate there, can you please share something about those cultural festivals?
11:16About the source?
11:17Cultural festivals, celebrations there.
11:21Yeah, in India.
11:22No, no, Italy.
11:24Ah, sorry, in Italy.
11:25Yeah, we are famous also for our culture of the celebration.
11:30Little and also the big.
11:35So, we are proud of our traditions.
11:39So, finally, what is your beauty with purpose project?
11:44Can you please share, elaborate about it?
11:46Yeah, my beauty with purpose project, one step at a time, was born from the desire to bring hope and smiles, to give something more.
11:56And, of course, in Italy.
11:57And, I created some artistic special activities for children with various disabilities, such as ceramics, painting, and, of course, ballet, of course, dance.
12:16And, that's improved their coordination, their balance, stimulating the brains, and this is beautiful for me.
12:24I am really proud of all this project.
12:28Thank you so much and all the best.
12:29Thank you so much.
