Kochi (Kerala), May 25 2025 (ANI): Indian Coast Guard received a Distress Alert regarding Liberia-flagged container vessel. ICG is actively coordinating rescue operations. ICG continues to closely monitor the situation to ensure the safety of the crew and to prevent any environmental damages. All 24 crew members ex Liberian-flagged container Vessel MSC ELSA 3 rescued safely, 21 by Indian Coast Guard & 03 by Indian Navy Ship Sujata after vessel sank off. Vessel was carrying 640 containers, including 13 containing hazardous cargo and 12 with calcium carbide. ICG has activated comprehensive Pollution Response preparedness and working in close coordination with State administration to address all possible scenarios.
