00:00Previously on The Rookie.
00:01Hey, counselor. Harrison Novak.
00:03They're all wrapped the same. They must be yours.
00:05These aren't mine.
00:06Thanks for coming right over.
00:07Yeah, of course.
00:08It seems clear that we have a second serial killer at large.
00:13You are?
00:14Her husband.
00:15Oscar and Jason just escaped from prison.
00:17Who's out there?
00:18Show me your hands.
00:19Oh my God, don't shoot me.
00:21I got a call from Detroit PD.
00:23They pulled pranks from a liquor store robbery last night.
00:25Jason Wallace.
00:26Who are you?
00:27I'm the man hunting your ex-husband.
00:30Malvado.
00:31If you hear of Jason's whereabouts, let me know.
00:39What's that?
00:41A secret note from my secret lover.
00:43Where do you find the energy?
00:44You barely have the strength for one lover.
00:46I know, I've been meaning to talk to you about putting some more effort in.
00:49That's fair.
00:50You workin' today?
00:51Yep, and I see you're going in early.
00:53Yeah, I'm gonna talk to that detective in Detroit,
00:55see if they have any updates on Jason.
00:58Do you really believe my psychotic ex-husband is on the run?
01:01Well, it seems like it.
01:03You can't be too careful.
01:05I'm just happy to get some normalcy back in our lives.
01:08Where normalcy means, you know, double serial killers.
01:11Well, on the bright side, at least one of them is already in custody.
01:13Always the optimist.
01:15It's my secret lover's favorite thing about me.
01:17Oh, see, that's what separates us.
01:18I could never pick only one favorite thing.
01:23Have a great day.
01:24You too.
01:27Ugh.
01:58Oh, uh, Mrs. Richards?
02:00That's right.
02:01Hi, I'm Lucy Chen.
02:03Um, I was hoping to talk to you about your former student, Seth Ridley.
02:05I'm his training officer at the LAPD.
02:07Is he in trouble?
02:08No, not at all.
02:09I was just looking to get some clarity on some things,
02:11and I thought the school guidance counselor would be the best person to ask.
02:14All right, then.
02:16No, no.
02:17You better come in.
02:20What about you?
02:22I'm sorry, what?
02:23She asked if she could talk to you.
02:25I'm sorry, what?
02:26She asked if you were feeling any more secure in a job.
02:29Oh, totally, totally.
02:31I'm not, totally not.
02:33Would you actually be able to put in a good word for me with your roommate?
02:38That would owe you big time.
02:41Hey.
02:42You think we'll be in a shift by 8 tonight?
02:46Uh, I mean, there's a serial killer on the loose.
02:49I wouldn't expect the clock out on time.
02:51There's got to be some kind of work-life balance eventually, though, right?
02:54She's a rookie.
02:56I haven't been on a date in three months.
02:58Why? What's at 8 p.m.?
03:00She's got long-distance love with the missus.
03:02Oh.
03:03We ain't married, all right?
03:04Just exclusives since high school.
03:06Camilla's still in Texas looking for the right time to move out.
03:09And live in your car.
03:10I'll find a place before then.
03:12She's my angel.
03:13Got with me when I was gonna make football money
03:15and stayed with me when I got hurt and lost it all.
03:17She sacrificed a hell of a lot for me.
03:19Oh, you must miss her so much.
03:21Yeah, yeah, I do.
03:25All right.
03:48Bad news.
03:49Remy Dardens had come to his injuries this morning.
03:52So, you're the only living witness.
03:54Which means we have jack squat.
03:55Because the only description I can give of our serial killer is white male,
03:59unknown age, somewhere near 6 feet,
04:01and somewhere around 175 pounds.
04:04But it's better than nothing.
04:06Not by much.
04:07Hey.
04:08Brought you some fresh clothes in case you want to change after
04:11and the appropriate shoes to match.
04:13Always so thoughtful.
04:15Well-trained.
04:19Are you okay?
04:21My heart hurts.
04:24So much pain before they died.
04:26I know in my mind such evil exists,
04:28but it always shocks my soul to see it.
04:31Good morning.
04:32Oh, morning.
04:35How you feeling?
04:36Fine. Day off helped.
04:37I wish I could say I found something helpful in your absence,
04:40but I did not.
04:41No DNA?
04:42The opposite. Too much.
04:44I found trace evidence of literally hundreds of people
04:46contaminating both the murder lab
04:48and the bodies of our serial killer's 10 victims.
04:50How is that possible?
04:52I muddied the scene with a DNA buffet.
04:54He literally collected medical waste,
04:56sharps, latex gloves, discarded bandages,
04:58and he used them to corrupt everything that he touched.
05:01That's kind of brilliant.
05:03In a pure evil way.
05:05I mean, even if we can pull his DNA from a victim and match it,
05:08any defense attorney with a pulse will be able to prove reasonable doubt.
05:11I'm afraid I have more troubling news.
05:13The autopsies revealed that all but one of the victims
05:16were infected with a variety of blood-borne illnesses
05:18before he strangled them to death.
05:21Yeah. He was literally using them like a science experiment.
05:24But before you panic, we found the needle he used on you and tested it.
05:28I wouldn't say it was clean,
05:30but there was nothing communicable within.
05:32We'll get you regular testing for the next six months.
05:34But if they didn't find anything in the needle, you should be okay.
05:37Okay.
05:38But on the good news front,
05:40most of the medical waste was generic,
05:42found in every hospital and doctor's office around the state,
05:44except for these four syringes, which are trial design.
05:47Only used at St. Stephen Hospital.
05:49You could have led with that.
05:50He's an actor. He likes the drama.
05:52Former actor. And I like setting realistic expectations.
05:54All right, so just to be clear,
05:56we're looking for a white male of indeterminate age, height, weight,
05:59with some form of connection to Westview Psychiatric Institution
06:03and St. Stephen Hospital,
06:05places that employ and treat thousands of people a year.
06:08Talk about setting expectations.
06:10And here I was, feeling hopeful.
06:12Sorry.
06:19You know, I've been, uh, really studying my roof book.
06:22I've been burning the midnight oil.
06:24Miles and I are gonna go to the range later on.
06:27Do some extra shooting.
06:29I visited your high school this morning, Ridley.
06:33Oh, that's cool. Why?
06:36Because I wanted some clarity about your high school experience.
06:41And?
06:44Why don't you tell me, Ridley?
06:46What exactly did I discover?
06:48You found out that I was telling the truth
06:50about my friend who OD'd
06:52and that she was not my girlfriend.
06:55And I did go on a date with her
06:57a couple months before Rory Hatcher's party.
06:59I did give her CPR.
07:01But Rory Hatcher's dad actually saved her.
07:09I'm sorry.
07:11And?
07:15And you discovered that I lied to you and Miles
07:19about the girl who died in a car accident.
07:21And she was not my girlfriend, either.
07:23I was actually a freshman when she was a senior.
07:26And I've never met the girl.
07:32Do you want to know why I lied?
07:34I can figure that out for myself.
07:36What if I told you that I was ashamed of what I did?
07:40And that I have struggled in the past
07:42using these half-truths to get me out of trouble?
07:45I just... I've sworn to myself
07:47that I wasn't going to be this guy anymore
07:49when I joined the LAPD.
07:51But then I threw up in a crime scene on day one.
07:54And I panicked.
07:56And I should have owned up to my failures.
07:58But I just...
08:00I should have suffered the consequences.
08:03What are the consequences?
08:06I don't... I don't know yet.
08:08We have an on-site incinerator in the basement.
08:10It's where all of our medical waste is disposed.
08:12Who has access to it?
08:14Custodial staff, plus we have a dedicated incineration team.
08:17Everyone's passed background checks,
08:19but a few months ago,
08:21our security staff found a patient, Ryan Dearborn,
08:23wandering around the basement with a medical bag.
08:26At the time, he was in the hospital
08:28with a medical bag in his hand.
08:31At the time, he claimed he was lost.
08:33Couldn't explain the bag.
08:35Back in Texas, we call that clue
08:37sweeter than stolen honey.
08:39I like him.
08:41No comment.
08:43Are you seeing anyone?
08:45Because I have a niece who has had it up to here with L.A. guys.
08:47If she's anywhere near as lovely as you,
08:49I'm sure she'll have her pick of men.
08:51Unfortunately, I am taking.
08:53It's long distance. He'll be single soon enough.
08:55What do you have against long-distance relationships?
08:57They aren't relationships.
08:59They aren't the way you weave your lives together.
09:01That's a relationship.
09:03Chatting on Zoom is a friendship at best.
09:05Thank you for the intel.
09:07He and Rachel broke up when she moved to New York.
09:09Ah, I see.
09:11Don't listen to him.
09:13Relationships come in all forms.
09:15Let's go, boo.
09:17Nice to meet you.
09:19Hi.
09:21Ryan Dearborn has been a repeat patient
09:23at Westview Psychiatric since he was a teenager.
09:25His most recent stint was 16 months ago.
09:28Schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder,
09:30drug addiction.
09:32Has he ever crossed paths with Harrison Novak?
09:34He did.
09:36At least he could have.
09:38There is a two-month overlap during their teenage years.
09:40Okay.
09:42So, what do you think?
09:44Oh.
09:46I think it looks like a cautionary tale
09:48for how society fails those with mental health issues.
09:50I mean,
09:52what do you think about how we should approach it?
09:54Oh, right.
09:56Well, we don't have probable cause to enter,
09:58so...
10:00first step is to try to get the suspect
10:02into the open.
10:04We could simply knock on the door,
10:06but due to his history of violence,
10:08it might be better to avoid surprises.
10:10Good. So?
10:12We call him.
10:14Perfect. Do it.
10:22Hi.
10:25Hi.
10:27Mr. Dearborn?
10:29This is Officer Selena Juarez with LAPD.
10:31We're outside.
10:33We're hoping we could speak with you
10:35if you wouldn't mind.
10:37Okay.
10:39Well, that was disturbing.
10:417-Adam-15 requesting additional units
10:43and an RA to my location.
10:45Go cover the rear.
10:55Okay.
11:15In position.
11:17No sign of suspect.
11:19Copy that.
11:21I'm at the front door making entry.
11:25Police. Mr. Dearborn?
11:27I'm coming inside.
11:31Stand where I can see you
11:33with your hands open and visible.
11:39Sir?
11:41I'm gonna need you to step out.
11:43Do it now.
11:55Inside's clear.
11:57Copy that.
11:59Maybe he wasn't in there when we called.
12:01Negative.
12:03This soup is still steaming.
12:05Must have jumped into the woods
12:07the second we pulled up.
12:15I can't...
12:17I can't...
12:19Ellen, I'm hearing a voice
12:21from underneath the mobile home.
12:23I got a hatch
12:25in the floor.
12:27I'm gonna open it now.
12:37Hey.
12:39Do you have a second?
12:41Yeah, sure.
12:43I'll be right back.
12:46Hey.
12:48Do you have a second?
12:50Sure.
12:52Uh-oh.
12:54Yeah.
12:56Okay, so I have confirmed
12:58that Seth lied to me
13:00on two separate occasions
13:02about past tragedies.
13:04Not great.
13:06That's it? Not great?
13:08I mean, a third of the department
13:10routinely lies about their personal life.
13:12Do you honestly think Smitty qualified
13:14There's a difference between lying on the job
13:16and lying about the job.
13:18Has he ever lied about a call or on paperwork?
13:20Not that I know of.
13:22Okay.
13:24Look, the city spent a quarter million training Ridley.
13:26The department's currently understaffed
13:28due to a major corruption scandal,
13:30and he was recently lauded as a hero
13:32for saving a hostage's life.
13:34Gray's not gonna cut him just because he brags.
13:36Wait, I can't believe Tim,
13:38I-bounce-boots-for-breakfast-Bradford
13:40is suggesting letting unethical behavior slide.
13:43It's what we call a T.O. problem.
13:45Wow. Okay, thank you.
13:47Mm-hmm.
13:49Hi.
13:51Hey. Hi.
13:53Listen, I really love this job.
13:55I have never lied about that.
13:57I just, I get panicked sometimes
13:59and I get stressed.
14:01Ridley, being a cop is stressful 24-7.
14:03Being cross-examined
14:05is just as stressful.
14:07What are you gonna do when you're on the stand?
14:09Tell the truth or say whatever makes you look good?
14:11I'm gonna tell the truth, okay?
14:13It's 100%.
14:15This has been an important wake-up call for me.
14:17I promise you,
14:19I'm gonna fly right from here on out.
14:21He said the needles were for his medicine
14:23and that just a quick rinse
14:25and they were, quote,
14:27good as new.
14:29That might be the most disgusting thing
14:31I've ever heard.
14:33So what do you think?
14:35Is this the guy you fought in the basement?
14:37I don't know. He feels wrong.
14:40This guy is literally buzzing with energy.
14:42The killer we're after was calm,
14:44fastidious, careful,
14:46and dangerously smart.
14:48I can't imagine this guy making a peanut butter sandwich
14:50without cutting off something important.
14:52Maybe that's what he wants us to think,
14:54laying the groundwork for an insanity plea.
14:56If so, he deserves an Oscar.
14:58So, do you want to talk to him or lay back?
15:00Lay back.
15:02Okay.
15:04Mr. Dearborn.
15:06Hi.
15:08Mr. Makers.
15:10With the FBI, this is Detective Lopez.
15:12I take it you've been apprised of your rights.
15:14Is that correct?
15:16I didn't do anything. I never do anything.
15:18Can you tell us where you were two nights ago?
15:22Down below.
15:24Underneath.
15:26Are you talking about a basement?
15:28It's my happy place.
15:30I don't want to go to my happy place.
15:38Hey.
15:42Nice to be home.
15:44So nice.
15:46Especially now that the threat of my crazy ex-husband
15:48is gone.
15:50At least for the moment.
15:52You'll get through this. We're all here for you.
15:54Whatever you guys need.
15:58Uh, sorry.
16:00You have to get this.
16:02Of course. Talk to you later.
16:04Yeah.
16:08Hello?
16:10Tell me about Detroit.
16:12I shouldn't be talking to you.
16:14Then why did you text when I saw this call?
16:16Tell me about Detroit.
16:18Jason's fingerprints were pulled
16:20from a liquor store he robbed.
16:22Same thing outside Provo, Utah, two days before.
16:24Seems a little sloppy for our boy.
16:26You think it's a fakeout?
16:28I don't know. Maybe not.
16:30People do have a tendency to run for the hills
16:32when they hear that I'm looking for them.
16:34I have my feelers out.
16:37So I was going through Antoinette's initial autopsy reports.
16:39All of the victims were cross-contaminated
16:41with dirty needles before they were killed.
16:43Except one.
16:45His very first victim, Grant Megalis.
16:47First kills are often unique.
16:49The thrill of raw violence before a serial killer
16:51hones their style.
16:53Right. And they can also be the most personal.
16:55So I went back into Grant's missing person file.
16:57One of the people the detectives interviewed
16:59was his former employer, Liam Glasser.
17:01Now, Glasser was never a suspect,
17:03but he runs a vending machine supply company
17:05in several cities all across Los Angeles,
17:07including Westview Psychiatric.
17:09Any connection to St. Stephen?
17:11Not that I could find.
17:13You should definitely put eyes on Glasser.
17:15See if you recognize him from the other night.
17:17Yeah, but I don't want him to know
17:19that he might be a suspect.
17:21I have an idea.
17:23Glad you could come on such short notice.
17:25You kidding me?
17:27I get my first born to service all the LAPD machines.
17:29You really got that kind of pull with the city?
17:31Oh, yeah. I'm the man.
17:34These all look like pretty standard fare.
17:36I was hoping for more of the, uh, exotics.
17:38Well, this is just a small sampling
17:40of what we carry.
17:42Is there something specific you had in mind?
17:44There's a New Zealand nut bar
17:46that I could only find at the zoo.
17:48The Kiwi Crispy.
17:50I have that.
17:52No way.
17:54Oh, yeah. It's not on the chart,
17:56but I could land it in slot 22 first thing in the morning
17:58if that seals the deal.
18:00Smitty Gray's looking for you.
18:02It's never an interruption
18:04when a woman is as pretty as you.
18:06Oh, wow. Smooth talker.
18:08Guilty as charged.
18:10But don't let me stop important police business
18:12from happening. I got work to do, too.
18:14I'm gonna go talk to Gray, and I will circle back.
18:16It was nice meeting you.
18:18You, too.
18:24Actually, you might be able
18:26to help me out with something.
18:28Happy to.
18:31I guess this is just a ploy
18:33to hit on me,
18:35because I am a happily married man.
18:37Who tells random women they're pretty?
18:39Well, a man can look.
18:41So what can I do for you?
18:43Nyla Harper, detective.
18:45It's nice to meet you, Nyla Harper, detective.
18:47I'm Liam Glasser,
18:49lord of the vending machines.
18:51That is actually what I wanted
18:53to talk to you about.
18:55Okay, so I have this case.
18:57It is a serial murder investigation,
18:59and there are connections to Westview Psychiatric.
19:01Get out of here.
19:03I service Westview.
19:05You're kidding.
19:07No.
19:09That's a small world. For how long?
19:11I mean, like, forever.
19:13It's my dad's company.
19:15I started working with him in high school.
19:17I took it over when he passed,
19:19so more than 20 years.
19:21How often are you there?
19:23I average three or four visits a month.
19:25I mean, the food is terrible there,
19:28Okay, I hate to impose,
19:30but there are elements of this case
19:32that date back to over a decade ago,
19:34and talking to someone
19:36with institutional knowledge
19:38would be extremely helpful.
19:40The staff has been stonewalling me
19:42trying to cover their ass.
19:44You know how that is.
19:46Oh, yeah, it's human nature.
19:48Exactly. Can you help me?
19:50Well, as much as I would love
19:52to spend the day talking to you,
19:54I got a schedule to keep.
19:56I promise it won't take that long.
20:00I'd owe you.
20:02Hmm.
20:04Sure. I can spare a few minutes.
20:06Great.
20:08I will go grab my file and my notebook.
20:18I think Glasser is my guy.
20:20He's the second killer.
20:22Well, that's a surprise,
20:25but the third killer you're boring
20:27is Kerm, I confess it.
20:29What?
20:31I couldn't stop.
20:33I needed them to hurt the way I hurt,
20:35the way I hurt,
20:37so I jabbed them.
20:39I jabbed them, and I killed them.
20:41Who was the third victim?
20:47Third kill?
20:51M-M-Michael Michael?
20:53He helped me find that place
20:55right between the toes.
20:57The most painful bone.
20:59Lots of nerves.
21:01But anywhere you poke, poke, poke too often,
21:03they get used to it.
21:05And I always had a lot of needles to poke.
21:07I stole them from the hospital.
21:09But this morning,
21:11you told Officer Nolan
21:13that you used those needles in your house for medicine.
21:15Yes.
21:17For me and for them.
21:19Tell us about Remy.
21:22Got away.
21:24Bye-bye.
21:26How did he get away?
21:30What happened the other night
21:32when he got away?
21:34Nothing.
21:36Everything.
21:38Danger.
21:40Please.
21:42I just wanted to stop.
21:44I need someone to stop him.
21:46Please.
21:48I need to be punished.
21:50I did such bad things.
21:52Such bad things.
21:59So, did he get anything wrong?
22:01Missing detail?
22:03No, it was a slam-dunk confession
22:05from a guy who was clearly in the throes of mental illness.
22:07I mean, sure, he gave us details,
22:09but he also left a lot of holes.
22:11Those are details only the killer could know.
22:13Or someone helping him.
22:15Listen, I know that my gut is not admissible,
22:17but I am telling you, Glasser is the guy from the basement.
22:20He recognized me in the break room.
22:22He couldn't stop staring at my wounds.
22:24He's still in there with Smitty,
22:26waiting to talk to me.
22:28At least just put eyes on him.
22:30Check my math.
22:34Of course, the last thing I want to do
22:36is charge the wrong guy
22:38or leave an accomplice out there.
22:42Let's go.
22:44I swear she'll be right back.
22:46I'm sorry. I got a route to run.
22:48I am so sorry. Thank you for waiting.
22:50I really gotta go.
22:52Just talk to me for two minutes.
22:54That's it, I promise.
22:56Your stuff will be safe here.
23:14So, um, do you have any interactions
23:17with the patients at Westview?
23:19Uh, I don't really stop to chat.
23:21I mean, not that there's anything wrong
23:23with being mentally ill.
23:25I can't help it, but, uh,
23:27I'm not really looking to socialize.
23:29So is that a no?
23:31Yes, that is a no.
23:33So you have never talked
23:35to someone named Ryan Dearborn?
23:37Uh, like I said,
23:39I do my business and I get out.
23:41Okay.
23:43Is that the serial killer
23:45you mentioned, Dearborn?
23:47I can't really comment on that.
23:49Sure?
23:51Yeah. Sure.
23:53You can almost feel him trying to be casual.
23:55If he is the guy,
23:57he's rocking a world-class ego.
23:59It'll make him overconfident.
24:04Well, if there's nothing else,
24:06I really gotta go.
24:08Where were you on Tuesday night?
24:10Why?
24:13I'm sorry.
24:15I meant to ask, um,
24:17were you at Westview two nights ago?
24:19Something happened.
24:21Well, I don't work nights.
24:23I have a family.
24:25Oh, kids?
24:27Yeah, two.
24:29What about you?
24:33What happened at Westview?
24:37There was an attack.
24:39Our suspect almost killed a cop.
24:41No kidding.
24:43Wow.
24:45Like I said, I wasn't there.
24:47Where were you?
24:49Movies, maybe.
24:51I'd have to check.
24:53No, I really gotta go.
24:55Good luck with your case.
24:57Of course.
24:59We will be in touch
25:01if any follow-up is necessary.
25:03Looking forward to it.
25:05Okay.
25:08I hope you catch the guy.
25:10I mean, you must feel such a weight
25:12being the only person
25:14who can bring his poor victim's closure.
25:18Does it keep you up at night?
25:22It would keep me up at night.
25:26I sleep just fine.
25:28Do you?
25:32Like a baby.
25:34Like a baby.
25:48Good job.
25:50So how's my math?
25:52Solid.
25:54He's definitely giving off some creepy vibes.
25:56He's very interested in the case.
25:58I agree. Wine's involved somehow,
26:00but glass is the dominant personality.
26:03No, no.
26:05They'll see Ryan stealing the syringes
26:07and Ryan confessing to serial murder.
26:09Glasser's just a hard-working family man
26:11who's barely tied to the case.
26:13Ryan's guilt feels genuine.
26:15I think he honestly believes
26:17he committed the murders.
26:19What if Glasser convinced him?
26:21You know, spent years feeding him details
26:23until he internalized them?
26:25Well, we know Glasser thinks long-term
26:27from the cross-contamination
26:29of the kills he's been doing.
26:31What do we do?
26:33Good news is, he knows we're close.
26:35He won't risk another abduction anytime soon.
26:37Yeah, but we need to be ready when he does.
26:39I need every detail about his work life.
26:41His clients, Root.
26:43There has to be some connection
26:45between him and the other victims.
26:47And let's pull apart his family.
26:49I need a deep dive on his wife, kids,
26:51third cousins, everyone.
26:53I'm so sorry to interrupt.
26:55Nolan, the 3rd PD's on the phone looking for you.
26:57Excuse me.
27:01Yeah?
27:03Jason was never in Detroit.
27:05He paid some meth head
27:07to leave his fingerprints at crime scenes.
27:09Detroit PD just arrested the guy.
27:11Jason is still in L.A.
27:17John Nolan.
27:31Shit.
27:53Shit.
27:55What are you doing, man?
27:57Get off!
28:01Ugh!
28:17Oh, yeah!
28:19That'll get the juices blowing, huh?
28:21Hey, babe.
28:23Oh, you don't look so good back there.
28:25Oh, damn it.
28:27Oh, I forgot to dump your phone.
28:30I'm moving south on La Cienega.
28:327-15, Bailey's partner just called 911.
28:34Jason took her.
28:36Selena.
28:38I know, I'm fudging it.
28:40Stupid, stupid!
28:42All right, all right, all right.
28:44So just pull over
28:46or wait for the switch car.
28:48Pull over and let me the hell out!
28:50Shut up!
28:52Nobody's asking you.
28:54I am way past taking orders from you, Jason.
28:56You don't scare me anymore.
28:58I said shut up!
29:18Do you have her?
29:20Yeah. One minute out. Get ready.
29:22I'm so ready, baby. Get here.
29:24Another life you're ruining.
29:27You've ruined a life. Mine.
29:29Oh, boo-hoo.
29:31Jason, you're not the hero of the story.
29:33You're not even the villain.
29:35You're Sideshow Bob,
29:37stepping on an infinite number of brakes.
29:41Look, I really not provoke me right now.
29:43Why?
29:45You gonna make it hurt more?
29:47You're such a big man,
29:49torturing a woman a third of your size.
29:51Shut up!
29:57Whoa!
30:21Oh, my God.
30:23They stopped.
30:25Two blocks up around the corner.
30:33Oh, my God.
30:35Baby, are you okay?
30:37Do I look okay?
30:39Don't yell at me. I'm freaking out here.
30:41Come on. We gotta go.
30:43Is she dead?
30:45I don't know.
30:47You gotta make sure.
30:49Otherwise, you'll never rest easy
30:51and you'll never be all mine.
30:54Wait. We won't make it to your car.
30:56Come on. We gotta go.
30:58Where are you going?
31:12There she is.
31:18I'm here. I'm here.
31:20How bad are you hurt?
31:22I don't know, but he's hurt worse.
31:26He just ran off down the alley with a woman.
31:28Um, blonde,
31:30pink sweatshirt.
31:32Control suspect Jason Weiler
31:34is on foot heading west towards the 101.
31:36He is armed and dangerous.
31:38Second suspect, blonde, female, pink sweatshirt.
31:40Mobilize backup airship and a supervisor
31:42to set up a search grid.
31:50Come on.
32:06You're gonna be all right.
32:08I know this is on the way.
32:10How'd you know to find me?
32:12Detroit PD called.
32:14Jason paid someone to plant his fingerprints.
32:16I know.
32:19Oh, it's Jason's phone.
32:21He left that before he ran off.
32:23Over here.
32:25Quick. Easy. Nice and easy.
32:27Multiple contusions.
32:29Possible concussion.
32:31Slight whiplash and some injury to my ribs.
32:33It's either fractured or sprained.
32:35I'm not sure.
32:37How's Bailey?
32:39Bailey is pissed.
32:41Can we go to the hospital with her?
32:43Of course.
32:45This is Jason's phone.
32:47Hey, I-I need a name and trace
32:49on this phone number right now.
32:51I have all the units in the area locked down the grid.
32:53We're not gonna let Jason get away again.
32:55All right, it's registered to Drew Davis.
32:57Uh, 28, female.
32:59Lives in La Cunada.
33:03I know her.
33:05No, she pretended she was drunk.
33:07She broke into the yard.
33:09She said she was looking for her friend's house.
33:11She must have been trying to test out
33:13your security system for Jason.
33:16I'm in. It's a few blocks from here,
33:18headed west on 6th.
33:20Control, suspects heading west on 6th Street
33:22toward Anderson. Code 3.
33:24Go.
33:26You sure?
33:28Go. Catch him.
33:40Oh, my God.
33:42What are we gonna do?
33:44We-We gotta get a car.
33:46Whoa, can't we just hide?
33:48No, no, no, they're gonna have this whole place locked down.
33:50Oh, no.
33:52They found us.
33:54What?
33:56They're attacking us.
33:58Well, if they know who I am, why would they know who I am?
34:00You said that I was gone.
34:02It doesn't matter. Come here.
34:04Okay, look, hey, you gotta go stop that car.
34:06I'm gonna come out with a gun, and we're gonna jack it.
34:08Go. Go!
34:11Night.
34:29Our phone's at the end of the block.
34:31Oh, no, look.
34:33I see it.
34:357-9-15, we have eyes on one suspect.
34:37Gunshot. Possibly deceased.
34:39No sign of Jason yet.
34:41Did Jason shoot her?
34:43I don't know. Let's move.
35:05I got eyes on Jason's south side of the street.
35:13Jason, show me your hands.
35:19I give up.
35:21Step out.
35:23I can't.
35:25Malvado, he's all over me.
35:27He killed Drew. You gotta protect me.
35:29Step out and show me your hands.
35:32Damn it, he's got a rifle!
35:407-9-15, shots fired.
35:42Suspect is down.
35:44We have a sniper.
35:46600 block of Anderson.
35:48Precise location unknown.
36:02Milo Harbor, detective.
36:06Now, I told you I'm a happily married man.
36:08Yes, you did.
36:10That was a lie.
36:12Just like everything else you have told me was a lie.
36:14See, I know you used to be the smartest guy in the room,
36:16and, honestly, you have mostly been right.
36:18You have played this thing perfectly so far.
36:22Well, I have, uh...
36:24I have, uh...
36:26I have, uh...
36:28I have...
36:30Well, I have no idea what you're talking about.
36:32Oh, you don't have to pretend.
36:34I'm not wearing a wire.
36:36I'm not here to trick you into confessing
36:38or threaten you that Ryan Dearborn
36:40has flipped on you.
36:42Like I said,
36:44you're smarter than that.
36:46But I also know
36:48that you can't help what you are.
36:50You'll be disciplined for a while,
36:52but then
36:54you won't be able to stop yourself,
36:56and you will take
36:59another victim.
37:01And we will be there.
37:03We?
37:05My friends
37:07on patrol who will make driving by
37:09your home and work part of every shift.
37:11And my other friends,
37:13my undercover friends,
37:15who will always be out there.
37:17Only you won't know who
37:19and you won't know when.
37:21See, you've gotten away with everything
37:23because you moved in the shadows,
37:25but now you are in the spotlight.
37:27And you will stay there
37:29until I find a way to hang these murders
37:31around your neck
37:33and lock you away forever.
37:35I'm back.
37:37I believe I only asked for a drink.
37:39Yes, I have that
37:41right here.
37:43Don't open it right away.
37:45I dropped it.
37:47Mm-hmm.
37:49And, uh,
37:51you know,
37:53I don't know if you know this,
37:55but, uh,
37:57I've been in a lot of trouble
37:59lately,
38:01and, uh,
38:03don't open it right away.
38:05I dropped it.
38:07Mm-hmm.
38:09And the rest of all this?
38:11Oh, this isn't from me.
38:13No, I definitely did not impulse
38:15buy half the gift shop.
38:17Ah, must have been my secret lover.
38:19Yeah, and if you ask me,
38:21that guy is really needy.
38:23Or maybe he's just worried
38:25because I'm completely in love with you.
38:27To be honest,
38:29I've never been more scared in my life.
38:31He's been a part of my life for so long.
38:33Even when he was in prison,
38:35there was always this part of me
38:37that was worried.
38:39What he was planning,
38:41when would he strike,
38:43and now I...
38:45And now you don't have to worry anymore.
38:51Now, is there anything else you want?
38:53I just want to go home.
38:55I will
38:57go see if I can help Luna
38:59with that paperwork.
39:01Okay.
39:11Hey, I guess you missed your 8 o'clock Zoom date.
39:13Yeah, it's all right.
39:15Camilla gets it.
39:17When is she moving out?
39:19I don't know.
39:21It's kind of hard to picture it here, you know?
39:23The life we were planning together was very Texas.
39:25Mm, 5,000-square-foot house
39:27to pay for rent.
39:29Exactly. Marriage, three kids, the whole thing.
39:31And now?
39:33I don't know. I've changed a lot
39:35since I've been here, you know?
39:37Speak of the devil.
39:39Hey, I'm gonna take this here
39:41so I don't lose her in the elevator.
39:43Oh, yeah, no worries. I'll see you tomorrow.
39:45Yes, see you tomorrow.
39:47Hey, beautiful, you're up late.
39:49Yeah, I know, but it's the only flight
39:51that I could get.
39:53Flight? Wait, what?
39:55My brother!
39:57What are you doing?
39:59Oh, baby, I couldn't wait. I quit my job.
40:01I'm moving to Los Angeles.
40:03Come here!
40:05As my eyes can see...
40:07So I've been thinking about the Seth situation.
40:09It's been a long day.
40:11I know this is my problem. I'm the T.O.,
40:13so I made a decision. He can't stay.
40:15The stakes are way too high,
40:17and the only way to fix this is to cut him from the program.
40:19Okay.
40:21Let's talk to Greg.
40:23Kate, you're not gonna talk me out of it?
40:25No.
40:27It's your call.
40:29As my eyes can see...
40:31Just know this whole station is gonna be behind you
40:33every step of the way. Thank you, sir.
40:35What's going on?
40:37It's your news to share.
40:41I finally got my lab results,
40:43and my cancer is back, but we caught it early,
40:45and the doctor says that I should still be able to work,
40:47and I just...
40:49I wanted to let you know
40:51that I am ready, I am willing, and able
40:53to complete my training
40:55if you will still have me.
40:59Yeah, of course.
41:03I am gonna sleep for a week.
41:05Yes, you always say that,
41:07and then you always pick up three new hobbies with your time off.
41:09This is different.
41:11Mm-hmm.
41:13Oh, uh, I left my jacket.
41:15I'll grab it. Hang on.
41:21There we go.
41:29Did you find it?
41:31Yeah.
41:41Oh, Bailey.
41:45What did you do?
