00:00time the scottish cup finals gone to extra time most recently in 2022 rangers beat hearts
00:10before today only two had gone to an extra 30 minutes since 2006
00:17so just like last season's semi-final meeting between them it is extra time
00:22and what sort of drama will be served up now Aberdeen giving themselves a chance
00:33but Celtic will be as relentless as ever
00:39in their pursuit of more history
00:44here they come with Bernardo and Yang oh and that could have gone anywhere it's Milne again though
00:51excellent afternoon yeah he's got down the line of the cross and the number of occasions
00:56and defended the situation really well but you look at you know Jensen he's put so much
01:02into the game he was stretching off just before the the final whistle there the speed you know
01:07the willingness and freshness of yang and going running behind there's gonna be a big problem
01:11for Aberdeen as the game wears on Bernardo with a corner and scales with a header
01:22a Celtic player winning the
01:26cross ball making the first contact oh yeah that's a difficult one for scales
01:31i think to go and get a decent contact on almost change the direction of the ball
01:38he was almost back at Aberdeen on a full-time basis
01:41Brendan Rodgers gave him his opportunity amidst an injury to Mike Navrotsky early last season
01:47and the rest is history
01:53and he's had to work hard to get back in the team because Austin trusty displaced him
02:00he's back in there beside Carter Vickers towards the tail end of this season
02:10Dante Bovara
02:11one back by Taylor
02:20can't quite get on to it here's Milne
02:23Dabag
02:26Morris Dabag wants it back it's just behind him Jensen challenged well by Bernardo
02:34Celtic looking to catch Aberdeen on the hot pier and Forrest has been tripped by Ante Palaversa
02:43and one of the most booked players in Scotland picks up another
02:47you can see it coming a mile away as well and i don't know if he needs to make the challenge
02:51i mean sometimes you can get in these situations where you think it's a good foul
02:57i don't know if Aberdeen had enough cover there's absolutely no doubt it's a yellow card
03:01well Jack Milne's having to come off now as i said he's arguably been Aberdeen's best player on the day
03:08first ever start for them in a scottish cup tie first start since december but the
03:18local boys done well today very good yeah really good afternoon he's put a real shift in not easy
03:24he's put a real shift in not easy not an easy first half to get through
03:29defended his areas really well i think his communication working across the
03:33back line is that defensive unit putting his body in the line he's left everything out there
03:41christopher's on the difficulty is when you make that type of change again in the back line when
03:46you've had that consistency can the players that go in there and like say tobers got up to speed
03:51really quickly in this game a lot of the time extra time can be a bit of a damn squib
04:02see it goes the league cup finals extra time period was bang average
04:11this season there's a school of thought that perhaps extra time will be a thing in the past
04:18and not too distant future matches going to penalties straight after 90 minutes when you
04:25consider the number of games that these guys are having to play these days be it domestically
04:30and continental competition internationally you see the club world cup taking place this summer
04:39it's just relentless of course replays were abolished a couple of seasons ago
04:44oh problem for james forest here this would be a blow for celtic
04:50it certainly doesn't look great over on that far side the grimace in his face tweaked to the
04:55hamstring and forest having to come off johnny kenny got his first celtic goal
05:06in the recent league meeting between these two he's going to come on
05:14forest will be hoping his teammates can help him to his 27th major honour
05:25gonna burst back onto the scene late on last season as well didn't he
05:29it's been the same this time yeah i think it was pivotal last year to an upturn and
05:33fall for celtic really coming coming to the fort showing just everyone just how good the player
05:38he is and i think this season as well when he's been called upon he's been outstanding
05:43and showing for me that he still has loads to offer
05:46and what a chance now for kenny coming on to be the hero
05:51and the irishman from sligo
05:55a brilliant season the shamrock rovers
06:01and what is of course a summer calendar the league of ireland
06:04he scored five in this season's conference league
06:13and off the mark for celtic now as well so yang's gone to the right maida to the left
06:18kenny through the middle loose ball by scales bouncing off his former teammate morris
06:25um
06:32taylor
06:35by totters
06:38the bag helps it on its way carter vickers is in the road
06:45and served it back in their stride and next time it's a nice little flick that one mccowan
06:53and the effort is comfortably saved by meetup from luke mccowan who slaps his hands in frustration
07:01yes it's up well the opportunity presents itself to mccowan these are the types of ones that either
07:09catch flush and the keeper's got no chance or you choke it as he does and it's
07:14into the body of the goalkeeper certainly a chance all the same jeffrey schloop is going to be on for
07:21celtic shortly it might be greg taylor he's about to come off a wait and see
07:30it's papi gay looks for the bag that is bernardo who's going to be coming off by all accounts
07:36and i'm thinking is he's he's crowded out get a throw and get a corner get a foul
07:41and but for him to do that i think you need to at least look like you're trying to cross the ball
07:47and he's just trying to be clever there and giving the ball straight back to celtic
07:53and he's got a chance to get a shot
07:55and he's got a chance to get a shot he's got a chance to get a shot he's got a chance to get a
08:00and he's just trying to be clever there and giving the ball straight back to celtic
08:09dante pulvera's ball there's not finding a teammate he was
08:13a big part in dante pulvera's move to aberdeen was bobby clark who kept goal in the 1970 final
08:19when aberdeen beat celtic 3-1 they were big underdogs that day
08:23it's one of the big shocks in scottish cup final history
08:31aberdeen were to end up lifting the silverware today the down is just as if not any bigger
08:40surprise as a long way to go for that to happen celtic on the ball here
08:47it's another overhead cross by yang and kind of thinking breathe throughout a side just
08:54loose balls couple of them just going to get the nerves going with the confidence and the
08:59consistency has come away from celtic certainly since aberdeen get the equalizer i think the
09:05fluency i think the changes up top they've had to reshape the front three on a couple of occasions
09:10now because of the changes when you lose the focal point of adamida maida then goes centrally
09:15then they change the james forest changes it again maida's back out wide but i'm looking at
09:19brendan rogers and the frustration for him is coming from yang just now not holding his width
09:24in that right hand side what james forest was doing so well isolating players he's coming in
09:28the pitch and then ultimately it's that end product another instance of you don't have
09:32james forest on the ball you don't know what you're going to get from celtic and that's
09:36kind of how it feels just now
09:46and some trying to break through the clouds above but more like scottish cup final day
09:54just what the players need is a bit more heat and sun after the after the efforts of putting
09:59this game just to drain and zap you a little bit more than you already feel
10:04and greg taylor moving into that midfield position now he plays half the game there
10:07anyway so he'll be quite comfortable yeah i think it just shows you you know how important
10:11greg taylor is to say that you're making a change take bernardoff put him into that
10:16midfield area because you know that he's so comfortable playing in there
10:19uh
10:28look in his face suggests he's not that far away and he picks up space as well really really good
10:35play speaking of the end product and he's got time to shape this up goes for precision rather than
10:42power he's one of seven celtic players in double figures we've got three and 20 or more
11:01so
11:22that is a concern for aberdeen because they put so much into it
11:26and and you know they've made the changes but there's so many players jensen's another one
11:31who's been stretching off and you know trying to loosen his legs off because they put so much and
11:36that would be the concern we know how supremely fit celtic are and we spoke about it throughout
11:41the game how how hard it is to not have the ball you not really have that first half in particular
11:46you've not got the ball you're shuffling across you're you're trying to close distances you're
11:50trying to double up and you know do two or three jobs at once and it is really tiring
11:54so this is now the big test of character and and you know even physicality for aberdeen can they
12:00see it out can they find that a little probably have to do the fourth one by now with how much
12:05they've put into the game but that little bit extra adrenaline that energy to keep going
12:13final few minutes of the first period
12:15um
12:38when you look at the fitness levels across the pitch and as we're looking at Aberdeen
12:42players tired and as are some of the Celtics as Greg Taylor to have seamlessly transitioned
12:47from a fullback position he's on it here he's got his team a corner
12:55i'm sure you would understand that james playing in a fullback position at points in your career
13:00up and down the pitch relentlessly and an extra time you're actually gonna play in a
13:03center midfield not an easy thing to go and do incredible playing center midfield's hard enough
13:09but having to go in there and take the ball pass and move still
13:12make the same type of runs and get down the same yeah incredible for Greg Taylor
13:18this is where the Celtic goal came from in the first half of normal time
13:22McEwen with it and Varra gets it away
13:29Gregor decides to chop back infield
13:32and he goes to McEwen
13:47Aberdeen have played much of this match with the game being played in front of them
13:53so
13:57regardless of the outcome to lean might wish he had gone with this
14:01setup sooner won just five of their last 27 league games
14:14i think that certainly the shape and the discipline within that has been excellent
14:19from Aberdeen but you had to do something different because of the way that the season
14:24ended and because it was so soon after playing Celtic at home and losing very comfortably
14:29there had to be a change you couldn't expect to come into this game play the same way and expect
14:33a different outcome it's the Celtic B team as well essentially that started that one apart from
14:38the captain yeah but still still i know there's still quality there that just shows you how much
14:43quality there is in the Celtic side but you know that for me the point was he couldn't come in and
14:48try and be that open and expect to get a different result in a cup final hamden against Celtic
14:55brendan rogers his record there speaks for itself never lost at hamden and in the scottish cup never
15:00lost the scottish cup just i think that the change had to happen but i was more interested in how they
15:07approached the game within that shape as opposed to just let's change shape for the sake of it
15:12johnny kennedy did brilliantly there head eye wide two minutes added on at the end of the first
15:16period of extra time so it will come again here
15:36scales and schloop
15:39that glorious chance right at the end of normal time
15:59skills attempted cross by morris
16:09so
16:28just does everything right gets his body across nullifies the threat he's another one that's
16:33a real big shift in this afternoon he's been excellent in the back line he's arguably looked
16:38like the pick of the signings if you like particularly in the winter when i know kevin
16:43nisbet on loan from millwall has been getting back amongst the goals but canoestar has looked like
16:49the the best of the winter signings if potentially to lean signings all told yeah very good and i
16:56think when you look at the change and the tweak to the system this afternoon i know you're up
17:01but it looks to have benefited aberdeen as well when you look at how they've been able to change
17:05in the second half certainly in the extra time that was the questions that we asked
17:10at half time would they be able to change did they have the personnel to allow it
17:16half time and extra time and it's as it was after 90 minutes carter vickers involved in the
17:25celtic goal but it was a donnington og you see the effort he put into the match the way he's
17:31limping there after coming off shayden morris fizzed the ball in from the right side and
17:38casper schmeichel made a meal of it and it was him put through his own goal and that one coming
17:46minutes from the end of the 90 so half time and extra time aberdeen won celtic won and when you
17:57look at the match stats as they stand right now celtics possession has never dropped really
18:04from the opening 10 minutes when at that point it was around about 80 sitting at 81.1
18:11uh shots on goal 17 for celtic three for aberdeen just three of those 17 have hit the target
18:19for celtic they hit the post as well through arna engels dies in my dad was through one on one one
18:25with meet of you made an excellent save but there's only been four saves in the match meet
18:29of's made three schmeichel's made one that was a comfortable save from leighton clarkson's free kick
18:33where is this tie sitting right now do you think because that was a a pretty mundane 17 minutes
18:42as it was is aberdeen's best chance penalties here i think it's looking increasingly likely
18:50that it is because you know throughout the game we've spoken about how disciplined they've been
18:55how much they've put into it the levels are starting to drop now for aberdeen and the threat
19:00is starting to drop so i think for for aberdeen they have to continue to be resolute defensively
19:06for a straight celtic and try and see it through you might get a free kick and you might get the
19:10set play but most likely it's going to be penalties celtic you know they'll continue to throw they'll
19:16continue to get the ball wide and try and stretch aberdeen and look at the two goals it's been you
19:22know from shorter from chances that aren't even shots and target and they've managed to find the
19:27back of the net so it could actually come down to another mistake that decides this cup final
19:35it will be aberdeen to get the second period of extra time underway 35 years ago
19:43they beat celtic on penalties to lift the scottish cup brian ervin was a hero
19:49brian ervin's 60th birthday today happy birthday brian if you're watching i'm sure you are
19:57who's going to be the hero out there and will it come
20:01and what remains of extra time or is it going all the way we shall find out now
20:10is alexander jensen for aberdeen
20:12um
20:33against anyone in the country and actually i'd quite like to see 100 meters between those two
20:38yeah maybe we can ask them to do it straight after this game they'd love that but slope does
20:43brilliant actually to read it and get the tackle line i think that's the best outcome
20:48from slope because morris is away from him times it brilliantly but this is a huge opportunity now
20:56we've got a couple of corners from that far side they had a couple of corners from that far side
21:02time the end of the 90 didn't make anything of it palaversa this time gay knocks you back and
21:09it's last over by pulvera couldn't keep it down it's well worked from aberdeen the deep delivery
21:23the contact from gay keeps it alive i think he's got to do better
21:27he's got to get it on target he just lashes at it he doesn't need to go for as much power as he does
21:38that's a huge huge opportunity
21:43yeah i mean the question is will they get another one as good as that well maybe not it just comes
21:47from obviously a hopeful ball you just see he's leaning back probably but it's easy sitting from
21:54here and obviously you know the tiredness comes into it and and they also the pressure of the
21:59occasion but you're looking for that to drop just a little bit more and you don't need to get as
22:04much power on it but it's easy when you're sitting up here i mean i'm tired watching them to be fair
22:10you made it look easy out there on that very pitch you've got the experience you can say that
22:16not anymore i couldn't do it i was out of breath walking up those stairs earlier
22:19i know your knees couldn't take it nowadays
22:29there's a let off for celtic for sure
22:35mcgowan by taylor it's mcgregor it's blocked and then off the bar from sloop
22:43oh kept alive by yang what a hit it was from jeffrey sloop how relaxed he is on the strike
22:57chances at both ends
23:01i mean i suppose naturally tiredness will open the game up
23:05which is a good thing for us and those watching certainly the neutrals anyway
23:10okay johnston mcgowan blocked by canoestar drops to gay
23:18tops it around yang who recovers well and wins the free kick
23:29celtic fans don't like patty gay very much i don't think brendan rogers does either
23:33given the injury to real hitati in that recent league game and hitati missed this one
23:44yang
23:49defended by jack mckenzie
23:54it's brilliant initially there by carter vickers
23:56so mcgregor's desperately trying to keep it going but that's going aberdeen's way
24:03it's rare you see brendan rogers quite as animated as he's been recently he knows he's
24:07feeling a bit hot under the collar here this trebles under duress all of a sudden yeah well
24:13these team are under pressure i think they felt certainly when celtic get the opening goal in the
24:18game you know the game goes one of two ways normally celtic ramp it up they build in those
24:23layers just looking at that chance again talking about pressure and moments how cool is he stepping
24:29i know it doesn't go in that's a bar but that's not an easy chance it makes it look so easy and
24:33so comfortable cigar in mouth it's almost like he's like i may as well have a shot here
24:41trying to get behind carter vickers sleep clears
24:45trying to put the aberdeen support into a frenzy 10 minutes of football left to be played here
24:5210 minutes away from a penalty shootout
24:59so
25:15celtic fans irate because they were away in a an attack of their own there no wonder
25:21right there that's brilliant to keep that alive there and don robertson he did delay but
25:26and it did look like he was potentially going to run out of the park but
25:29you've waited long you know long enough already just let let's see how it plays out
25:43scales yang was in behind canoes to get the head on to it
25:49johnston mo and kenny just couldn't make clean contact
25:57and any goal now could win the cup i mean this is high pressure high stakes at hamden well it is
26:04the time just to get the ball in the box don't really ask your opposition to defend it's a decent
26:10ball into a good area kenny's still got an awful lot to do right enough
26:15to get the forehead on it i think if he had got up a bit earlier and be able to hang just
26:28ever so slightly as he got up and control it a bit more he just waits too late is it too much to do
26:33it
26:39we're tired bodies out there
26:51cameron carter vickers or johnston
26:55so consistent performer celtic defender mckenzie
27:17scales and sloop both went for the same ball now it's jensen papi gay straight at schmeichel
27:25is that it is that the chance he just hits it into the ground papi gay comfortable for schmeichel
27:36there's a balance to be found and we're looking at the chances that aberdeen have had
27:42provara be a bit more composed wait a little bit longer you want a different side from
27:48papi get a bit more conviction go and really put your foot through it look to work schmeichel
27:54when you take your shot at the king you cannot afford to miss
27:58aberdeen have had two glorious chances in the second period of extra time here
28:03how costly will it prove to be that they took neither
28:13it all stems from scales and sloops misunderstanding so they got away with one there
28:17mcgregor
28:25yang johnston
28:31mcgregor for scales you can have a go here no he resists the temptation
28:36sloop's ball he's heather by the impressive canoe star
28:40and this is nerve-shredding heart-pounding nail-biting drama at the national stadium
28:53johnston's cross is overhead but maida's going to get on to it here
29:02scales trying to work it side to side in the hope they can drag aberdeen out of position
29:10and find that little pocket of space
29:21just over five minutes left
29:26carter vickers here's johnston
29:30yang
29:36so
29:39sloop
29:42way by canoe star and they are howling for a penalty here celtic
29:46luke mccowan still claiming there's a great challenge by mckenzie meantime
29:54they're gonna check this one there is a possible penalty check going on here
30:01for the challenge by canoe start on mccowan see what these two think of it
30:09i think it's mckenzie isn't it mccowan backs into the area mckenzie's in
30:14there's two hands on the back i think what impact does that have on what mccowan
30:20no penalty by the way no penalty yeah i'm not surprised to be honest
30:25just decision confirmed
30:31celtic come again carter vickers johnston
30:38mccowan for yang
30:51and again
30:57frustration from the celtic supporters that ball went back the way
31:03taylor straight to morris he just gets it away the bad chases carter vickers is there
31:13close the back door
31:16we are ticking ever closer to a shootout
31:38taylor
31:42so often you've come up with something right at the death as they did in this final last season
32:00and
32:16well i thought he was going to try and outrun cameron carter vickers there but it's a pure
32:20touch yeah he still tried to outrun but absolutely no chance the chance before johnny kenny just
32:26too far beyond that near post as the ball comes in just stay in the middle
32:29and then make your run off the cross when it comes in
32:35i'm sweet to meet her
32:40well i mean when it comes to penalties at that point you just never know i know when a manager
32:45wins a penalty shootout it's it's no accident because they practice them in a specific way
32:50when you lose a penalty shootout the manager says it's a lottery but you are getting to what is a
32:56practical lottery in that respect because if this goes to penalties celtics treble could go
33:01in the back of a good penalty saved by a brilliant save from a goalkeeper and the thing is when a
33:07penalty shootout you can plan for it and you can prepare for it but the reality is more often than
33:12not the initial five players that you first you know ideally would want to step up and hit penalties
33:17some of them might not be on the pitch by this stage of the game substitutions influence that
33:21injuries tiredness fatigue whatever it might be so i think best case scenario you want players
33:26to step up more confident and when you look out at both sides you say i think it's both sides
33:32best chance you've been on and lifting the trophy this afternoon as penalties because
33:35celtic have not shown enough quality here they come though as i say
33:42lovely drama greg taylor's popped up everywhere he's found yang as well but the quality is
33:50lacking that will be a goal kick and we're into the final minute of extra time
33:56that probably sums up the quality or lack of you know when yang gets into this position
34:02you look at my at the top of your screen this has to be flashed low across goal
34:08i know there's a defender in front of him i don't know how you can get it wrong james i honestly don't
34:14because he's not under that much pressure he needs to take another step compose himself and
34:19flash it across where the bodies are where there's defenders looking to make those last-ditch tackles
34:38tobers facing his own goal is to be careful here
34:42he told clears there will be at least one minute added on at the end of
34:46extra time there was that bar check for a possible penalty so that's where that's come from
34:53it's just the one solitary minute
34:58one minute of football left
35:04and then it's anyone's
35:05is
35:22scales again now carter vicars gets it to mccowan
35:30is this the chance for celtic johnston
35:33hangs it up to my dad he's done well to get it back across meat off claims though
35:38and this scottish cup final is going to penalties
35:44you can't see him as soon as meat off catch catches this ball jensen is off he's looking
35:48for the counter he's going to try and get a winner
35:53the 2025 scottish cup final will be decided by penalties
35:58as it was between these two in 1990 when aberdeen last lifted the scottish cup
36:06is history going to repeat itself or can celtic win a second major cup competition
36:14on penalties this season having done so against rangers in the final of the league cup
36:19sloop hit the bar pulvera and game is big opportunities for the dons up the other end
36:25but it's those own goals from donington and schmeichel that has taken this scottish cup
36:31final all the way it finishes here at hamden after extra time aberdeen won celtic won
36:44it's fairly nail-biting stuff here at hamden park and not many people i don't think rachel
36:50before this game apart from maybe aberdeen fans and you're one of them would have thought this
36:54would be the outcome that would be going into penalty kicks with the form that i've been
36:58approached this final in the four straight defeats the conceding the 12 goals and with
37:02this season that celtic have had not many would have predicted this but here we are yes you're
37:07right and i was asked to make a prediction before the game and i didn't see pens there's no way you
37:11did there is evidence but i said that largely so that i would be welcome back to aberdeen because
37:17my mom and dad still live there so i didn't i didn't probably fully believe that i thought we
37:21would be here but in fairness it was a it was a huge over 120 minutes and huge performance from
37:27so many players jensen specifically i couldn't believe him at the end he still was annoyed that
37:31he didn't get the ball played in the 120th minute but amazing to be here the players were dead in
37:35their feet there scott out in that patch and aberdeen just wanted to camp in but in that extra
37:40time they actually had two very very good chances the one over the bar and then the one with papa
37:45gay he should do better with yeah the thing is you can see the tempo of the game it's starting
37:50to get hotter here though as well i'm regretting this vest i've got on under my shirt
37:56to be fair but the thing is they had pace when they brought shading on in the counter-attack
38:00yeah i thought papa done really well when he came on physicality winning balls even second balls
38:05but and it was just a to be fair they brought a lot more quality on a lot more that that pace as
38:11well pace scares everybody it does sean have you been in a penalty shootout before i have
38:17successfully did you step up and take one uh good and bad uh so it's uh it's a nervous moment
38:24i can only imagine what it's like in a cup final it's uh you have to trust your technique and uh
38:29do not change your mind it's uh this is a tough moment it is but you know we've talked about
38:35people have talked about practicing penalties haven't they managers and players and i'm pretty
38:39sure all clubs do it leading in to a final but when you're stepping up and for these celtic
38:44players to win a treble for these aberdeen players to win a scottish cup for the first time
38:48in 35 years the practice thing goes out the window it's all about what's upstairs at that
38:54moment in time and how cool and as sean says believe in what you're doing with your technique
39:01yeah there is value in practicing but you're absolutely right it doesn't replicate what
39:05it'll feel like you simply can't replicate this you cannot replicate this it's impossible
39:09you can and you know you've got the next question mark is do you jog to the do you jog to the spot
39:14do you walk do you how do you stay calm you ultimately you don't really just i always say
39:19make sure you hit it hard right okay well i think we should hand back to liam uh to describe the
39:25penalties he's certainly better than it that's it than us uh good luck liam well the penalty
39:34shootouts have only decided three previous scottish cup finals one of those was 1990
39:39the penalties were taken at the aberdeen end that day oh six marks gretna 2020
39:47celtic hearts and it looks as though they're going to be taken at the celtic end
39:54aberdeen's scottish cup penalty shootout record is played six
39:58won three lost three including against celtic in last season semis celtics penalty shootout
40:06record in this competition is one two lost two they won that final against hearts to seal a
40:14quadruple treble on penalties and not only will they be taken at the celtic end it will be the
40:24celtic captain to take first
40:35a big deep breath from callum mcgregor
40:40he is looking to join bobby lennox on 25 major honors as a celtic player against dimitar mitov
40:49it is mcgregor and mita saves and it is advantage aberdeen
41:02the skipper fails huge huge as you say callum mcgregor the captain stepping up leading by
41:10example it's not his best effort mitov guesses the right way
41:15it's a tremendous start for aberdeen he's never lost a cup final callum mcgregor
41:24and it's his opposite number graham sherry is up first for aberdeen and he gives them the lead
41:32he does it's a brilliant penalty from sherry
41:38aberdeen looking to lift their first trophies since 2014 which they won on penalties as well
41:43and yimmy dillene little glance at his skipper it's top class from graham shenny to follow up
41:51the pressure in the first penalty every penalty there's immense pressure the first one especially
41:57after a miss you've got to follow up at the back of the net it's exactly what graham shenny does
42:04it's johnny kenny he's only recently forced himself into the reckoning
42:10for his first goal for the club against aberdeen 10 days ago
42:15that's cool it's one one meet off went the wrong way
42:22on a piece as you say kill choose pressure every every penalty is pressure but i think
42:27when the first one's missed and you're stepping up sends me off the wrong way
42:33well you remember how close self they were to losing that penalty shootout to hearts
42:38and that final hearts were a kick or two of the ball away from winning that scottish cut
42:43dante pulvera next up
42:52he scores another terrific spot kick two one
42:58really good penalty goes for the stutter run shows a lot of composure i always think any
43:05player that's got the confidence to do that knows exactly what he's doing sends the keeper the wrong
43:11way
43:20he's a huge influence when he came into the game luke mccowan for celtic
43:28and that's another brilliant penalty and mccowan sends meat off the wrong way meat
43:33off's an excellent shot stopper when it comes to penalties we remember that safer
43:38on the final day of the league season last season at fir park and that's a brilliant spot kick again
43:44that is i mean it's important that you you make your mind up you stick to it
43:49mccowan just slotting that into the side net and i suspect
43:53even meat of it full stretch is difficult one for him to stop
44:00the semi-final hero
44:01yes he does and aberdeen are two penalty kicks away from winning the scottish cup that's the
44:07reality right now wow big penalty from the bag real quality so good very similar to graham shinnies
44:21from the back real quality so good very similar to graham shinnies
44:30that's what it means to jimmy to lean
44:36well celtics man of the season getting to the point you can ill afford to miss
44:4433 times he scored for celtic this campaign he's been the player of the campaign
44:49and he gets it through meet up just just he shoots out still alive
44:58just as enough for dives in my that goes for power
45:04meet off guesses that he's hitting it straight he'll be disappointed i know there's
45:09a decent amount of power at it disappointed there meet off
45:13two successful penalty conversions away
45:29from the cup
45:32palaversa against schmeichel
45:34so that's another terrific cool penalty and aberdeen are now one penalty away
45:44from ending this long wait for the trophy
45:49when i spoke earlier on liam about being prepared for a penalty shootout
45:54steven was speaking about it downstairs as well and it certainly looks so far
45:58like aberdeen have been all over this possibility the penalties have been out of this world
46:06and alistair johnston simply must score to keep celtics treble dream alive
46:14is
46:31it is quite sensational
46:3535 years of pain and misery in this competition
46:41and they have overcome the impossible by doing the unthinkable here
46:56given no chance aberdeen are scottish cup winners for the first time since 1990
47:05a stunning triumph that no one outside the granite city saw coming
47:14and perhaps even a triumph some of them didn't see coming themselves
47:21they've had their fair share of embarrassment in this tournament along the way
47:27but they can forget all about that yemi tellin has brought silverware to pitodrie in his first
47:33season against all the odds imaginable against all probability against all expectation
47:42aberdeen have made the impossible possible
47:46and the most surreal of seasons the club's arguably ever had ends with a silver lining
47:53ends with a silver lining and it ends with one of the most glorious moments in a generation for them
48:01perhaps even two generations celtics treble dream has come crashing down around them
48:12as aberdeen win the cup on penalties meet up with two saves as the hero
48:19replicating teo snelders all those years ago a first ever cup final defeat for callum mcgregor
48:28who failed with his penalty as johnston did
48:35and to be honest james mcfadden hardly anyone saw this coming as the celtic fans
48:41then absolutely i don't think many people give aberdeen any hope of winning this cup today
48:49but when it comes to a cup final you just never know and it is a time for heroes
48:55meet over your picture there is a hero this afternoon there was a monumental effort from
49:00aberdeen as a as a club as a team as a squad to get over the line and look at the scenes in this
49:08place such a long time coming for aberdeen and what a season they've had so up and down
49:15you couldn't write the end of this season for aberdeen winning the scottish cup
49:20absolutely incredible coming here with no hope no hope from anyone you have to build that belief in
49:28yourself and they've absolutely done that without doubt and they've got their hands on the trophy
49:34after such a long time it really is unbelievable stuff when you look at the scenes you look at the
49:41fans in the stadium the players on the pitch the likes of graham shinny they almost don't know how
49:47to react and that's the beauty of football that's what makes it so incredible on an afternoon like
49:54this to put so much into a game of football when it only looked at halftime like there would be
49:59one team that would go on and lift the trophy this afternoon to have a game plan to have changes
50:05to show the level of resilience that aberdeen has shown not just this afternoon but throughout the
50:10entire season incredible stuff so aberdeen our scottish cup winners 2025 let's get pitch side
50:19the big don ciro dimitar meetups with jonathan
