अमेरिका में ट्रंप प्रशासन ने हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी में अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्रों के पढ़ने का प्रावधान रद्द कर दिया है। प्रशासन ने कहा है कि मौजूदा अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्रों को दूसरी जगह जाना होगा या देश छोड़ना होगा. हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी में हजारों अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्र पढ़ते हैं। यूनिवर्सिटी का आईवी लीग स्कूल के साथ विवाद चल रहा हैै.यूनिवर्सिटी के स्टूडेंट एंड विजिटर एक्सचेंज प्रोग्राम या एसईवीपी सर्टिफिकेशन को रद्द कर दिया गया है. इस फैसले का असर हजारों अंतरराष्ट्रीय छात्रों पर पड़ेगा। इनमें करीब 800 छात्र भारतीय भी हैं। उन्हें या तो दूसरी यूनिवर्सिटीज में जाना पड़ेगा या अमेरिका छोड़ना होगा.यूएई से हार्वर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी के पूर्व छात्र और शिक्षाविद डॉ. शब्बीर हसन ने कहा कि, उन्हें लगता है कि ये पूरी तरह हॉलीवुड स्टाइल में झटका है. उन्हें नहीं पता कि जो छात्र अभी हार्वर्ड में पढ़ रहे हैं, उनपर क्या असर पड़ा पड़ेगा. उन्होंने कहा, "मुझे लगता है कि उन्हें मजबूती से इस फैसले का सामना करना पड़ेगा, क्योंकि बहुत सी चीजें हो रही हैं."इस फैसले से मौजूदा छात्रों को अकादमिक और वैधानिक संकट का सामना करना पड़ रहा है. अगर वे दूसरे एसईवीपी प्रामाणित संस्थानों में नहीं जाते हैं तो उनका वीजा रद्द हो सकता है और वे अमेरिका में नहीं रह सकते. भारतीय छात्रों में इस फैसले से शैक्षणिक उहापोह है. वे दिमागी तौर पर परेशान हैं. अभी कई छात्र हार्वर्ड के प्रतिष्ठित कानून, चिकित्सा, व्यवसाय और इंजीनियरिंग विभागों में पढ़ रहे हैं. जो दूसरी जगह दाखिला नहीं ले पाते, उनके एफ-1 या अकादमिक छात्र वीजा के रद्द होने का जोखिम है। ऐसे में वे संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में नहीं रह पाएंगे. हार्वर्ड वैधानिक और संस्थागत जवाब देने की तैयारी कर रहा है। इस कदम पर दुनिया भर के अकादमिक समुदाय की नजर है. जल्द ही सैकड़ों भारतीय छात्रों और अकादमिक शख्सियत के लिए तय हो जाएगा कि प्रतिष्ठित अमेरिकी संस्थान से जुड़ने का उनका सपना बना रहेगा या खत्म हो जाएगा।
