00:00If you're a mother, sister, or friend, then you need to know about obstetric fistula,
00:04an injury that can change lives forever. Obstetric fistula occurs during childbirth
00:09when prolonged labor creates a hole between the birth canal and bladder or rectum. This leads to
00:14constant uncontrollable leakage of urine or feces. In Pakistan, about 5,000 women live with
00:20this condition in silence due to social stigma and lack of awareness. But here's the good news.
00:25It's preventable and treatable. With timely maternity care, skilled birth attendance,
00:30and access to emergency obstetric services, we can stop fistula before it starts.
00:35And for those already affected, surgical repair and social reintegration offer a second chance at life.
00:41On this international day-to-end obstetric fistula, let's break the silence.
00:46Invest in quality maternal health care, raise awareness, and support women and girls to
00:51reclaim their lives. Together, we can make a difference.
