On Thursday, Speaker Emirata Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) spoke on the House floor in opposition to the One Big Beautiful Bill, which ultimately passed the House early that morning.

00:23Mr. Speaker, Reverend Martin Luther King said, of all the forms of inequality and
00:30injustice in health is the most shocking and the most inhuman because it also often results
00:37in physical death.
00:39He went on to talk about access to health care as a right.
00:45But this builds in inequality and inhumanity exactly what Republicans have in store for
00:52the American people.
00:54I was five hours at the Rules Committee.
00:56I know some of you were longer.
00:58And it was stiff competition as to what was the worst provision they came up with.
01:03But let's just talk about work requirements for a moment.
01:09You said with great pride, oh, if they have a seven-year-old child, they have to go to work.
01:16A seven-year-old child is a little child.
01:20I just recall for you a conversation I had with some moms.
01:26One of them said, if I have a work requirement to have Medicaid, this is what it means to me.
01:35If my child is sick, I can't go to work because I can't afford childcare.
01:43I can't go to work.
01:44If I miss work, I'll miss pay.
01:48And I can't afford to miss the pay.
01:51And if I miss going to work, I can be fired.
01:54So what he'll have to do is put my child on the school bus sick because the child is sick and I have to go to work to have Medicaid.
02:06Then, of course, as we mentioned about the silencers is just beyond comprehension in terms of safety for our children.
02:15Because of Republicans' tax bill scam, millions of American families, seniors and veterans, vulnerable children and all the rest,
02:24and people with disabilities will lose their healthcare.
02:27Rural hospitals will be closed, millions of jobs will be destroyed across America, and all of this to give another massive test cut to the richest people in America.
02:36It is a Republican, Robin Hood in reverse, one of the largest transfers of wealth from working families to the rich in our country.
02:44I urge a no vote on the rule and on the bill.
