00:00Ruben Amarim is expected to remain as Manchester United head coach
00:04despite a disappointing end to a dismal first season in charge of the club.
00:09Manchester United, of course, lost in the Europa League final against Tottenham
00:12on Wednesday night to condemn them to a trophy-less campaign
00:16and no European football next season.
00:19It really is a damning indictment of just how poor United have been this season
00:23now that they will finish, well, as low as 17th potentially in the Premier League.
00:27They will not be, like we said, in any European competition next season
00:31and it is going to be a really tough summer now for Manchester United.
00:35Champions League qualification would have been worth around £100 million
00:38in extra additional revenue through TV deals and matchday income, all that like.
00:43It means United not only have that £100 million disparity now from a financial point of view
00:49but it also means it's going to be harder to attract certain players to move to Old Trafford as well.
00:54But like we said, Ruben Amarim is still expected to remain as United head coach.
01:00Sir Jim Ratcliffe is targeting, well, a top six finish in the Premier League next season.
01:05That competition will be the sole focus.
01:08United will have played 60 games in all competitions this season
01:11by the time they face Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend.
01:14They might play as few as 40 competitive matches next season
01:18with F38 in the Premier League and at least one in the Carabao and the FA Cup.
01:23In terms of the summer, well, just about everyone is potentially up for sale at Old Trafford.
01:29You know, this is the harsh reality of a team who have underperformed.
01:32It's very hard to make a case for anyone to remain at the club after how poor this campaign has been.
01:39Of course, there are a few players who United would like to keep at the club,
01:42the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Leni Yoro, Amad Diallo,
01:46these sort of players with high potential and high quality.
01:48But the truth of the matter is that everyone does have their price
01:52and more so than ever due to what happened this season.
01:55It's going to be very fascinating to see just who and how United can recruit
01:59given that they've got these limited resources in both reputation and revenue for the summer ahead.
02:06You'd still expect the deal from Mateusz Kuna to be completed relatively soon.
02:09He was not going to decide on a move to Old Trafford dependent on European football.
02:14But the likes of Lian de Lapp, Victor Jokeres even, Brian Mbwemo,
02:18you know, they could all be persuaded to go elsewhere given that United can't offer them
02:22the opportunity to play in a top competition in what will be a season leading up to the World Cup.
02:28You know, players want to not only be playing regularly next season,
02:31they want to be doing so at the highest level to try and get a chance to represent their national team.
02:35So it really is a blow for United. It really is difficult, very hard to find any silver linings right now.
02:41But the truth for United is that they know they can't go sacking another head coach.
02:46There's been very little evidence to suggest that Ruben Amarim has maybe been the man
02:52to turn these things around right now, particularly when their league form has been so bad
02:57and that will be their only competition they're in next season.
03:02It really is difficult to turn around a 17th-paced finish, potentially the 16th course at the moment,
03:07ahead of playing Villa this weekend, and then to go try finishing the top six next season.
03:11That is the challenge, though.
03:13Ruben Amarim knows it's going to be a tough, long summer as Manchester United head coach,
03:16but he's not had a pre-season yet. He's not had a full season in charge of the club.
03:20He's expected to get one, although things can quickly change.
03:23But yeah, as things stand, following the Europa League campaign,
03:26Ruben Amarim is set to remain as United head coach.
03:28It remains to be seen, though, just how many of his players will still be at the club to join him.
