00:00The death toll from severe flooding in southeastern Australia has risen to four after three consecutive
00:07days of relentless rain. Police confirmed on Friday that the body of a man was discovered
00:13inside a car submerged in floodwaters near Coffs Harbour. Meanwhile, the search continues for
00:19another person who has been missing since the torrential downpour began earlier this week.
00:24Emergency services say approximately 50,000 people remained cut off, with entire towns
00:30isolated, homes destroyed, and livestock swept away by the rising waters. Residents returning
00:36to their homes have been urged to remain vigilant, as floodwaters may conceal serious hazards,
00:41including venomous snakes displaced by the floods. Prime Minister Antony Albanese cancelled
00:47a planned visit to Tari, one of the hardest-hit towns due to impossible roads.
00:53And we're here to basically say very clearly and explicitly, you are not alone. The federal
01:00government, state government, local government, as well as the whole of the people of New
01:05South Wales and indeed the people of Australia are with you at this time. This is a dangerous
01:10circumstance and even when the rain stops falling from the sky, sometimes the waters keep rising
01:17for a period of time. And that is the case in the Mid-North Coast at this point in time.
01:23Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, as authorities monitor the situation across affected regions.
