A Conservative MP has slammed the government’s decision to sign over the Chagos Islands to Mauritius as the "worst deal on earth". Shadow policing minister Matt Vickers said the deal is a "disaster for Britain" which will cost the taxpayer £101m per year.

00:09Either way, it's a hell of a lot of money that the British taxpayers are paying on land that we're handing over.

00:17We're handing over territory and taking out a lease and paying millions and millions of pounds in return for it.
00:23That's a huge sum of money.
00:24It'll make a huge difference to the British taxpayers, to those pensioners who've lost their winter fuel allowance,
00:28those businesses who have been taxed to death for employing people.
00:31This is a disaster for Britain.
