Fundraisers for a children's charity are nearing the end of a four-wheel-driving tour from Queensland through the red centre, after making donations to help remote schools.

00:00A convoy of 46 vehicles traversing the central Australian outback through Alice Springs,
00:09Ross River, Uluru, Kings Canyon and Palm Valley.
00:13Well she's done 3,000 k's to get here. We call it the armchair on wheels.
00:19But it wasn't just about sightseeing. They've been raising funds for months.
00:24I think at the moment officially we're just under eight and a half grand.
00:29And that's just the latest tally.
00:31Since 2009 my team has raised $650,000.
00:35The payoff is knowing the money is put to good use.
00:38Like at Acacia Hills School in Alice Springs.
00:41It's received $10,000 to replace the padding under this accessible swing.
00:46What are we going to play with?
00:48With the swing.
00:49That's right.
00:50It's a favourite with students.
00:52Because it's awesome.
00:54And replacing the padding will make it safer and learning more fun.
00:59Students love it. So students who don't like the idea of doing schoolwork at school,
