00:00Mr. President, one other topic I want to mention before I get to the main subject today is the war in Ukraine.
00:07For the last four months, President Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to bring an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine,
00:15and we here in the Senate commend him for those efforts.
00:19Now the ball is in Putin's court.
00:21It's time for him to come to the table in good faith and make a serious proposal for an immediate ceasefire
00:27that can lead to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
00:32I hope he realizes it's time to do so.
00:35If not, the Senate stands ready to act.
00:39Thanks to the dogged work of Senator Graham, we have bipartisan legislation co-sponsored by 80 of my colleagues
00:48to impose additional economic sanctions and tariffs on Russia.
00:53If Russia is not willing to engage in serious diplomacy,
00:58the Senate will work with the Trump administration to consider additional sanctions
01:03to force Putin to start negotiating.
